Are you thinking about moving to Atlanta for your acting career?
Yeah I literally just moved here, been here a month now. Your video is super encouraging to me, and you are preaching the truth about L.A. I just moved from L.A. after living there for 6 years. Rent is higher and you can forget about buying a house unless you are already a millionare. Great video!!!
@@dollfaice3259 Welcome to ATL!
@@ActingCareerCenter Thank You so much!!!
Hello! Excuse me I have a question, if I want to move in Atlanta for my acting career , what is the best schools to learn acting?
@@masterofight1319 My favorite acting studio in Atlanta is Drama Inc.
www.dramainc.net
I was having this same conversation with a major studio producer. He mentioned that If I was serious and wanted to break into the industry that I needed to seriously look at Atlanta as that’s where the work is now.
Absolutely agree.
Did you end up going?
@@numberonepun4126 no i’ve been dabbling in short films for the moment
Hey Kurt! Big fan. Loved this video, and as a fellow actor in ATL, I can confirm that this information is 100% spot on!
You are a gem.
I can honestly say this video is the best video coming across acting that I’ve seen in a while. I was dead set on moving to LA to pursue my dream, but looks like ATL is the best stop to go to right now.
I truly believe ATL Is the best place to start an acting career. You can always move to LA later, but it's just easier to get the ball rolling in ATL than in LA.
@@ActingCareerCenter Atlanta or Chicago for people just starting? I do like that Chicago is a bigger city but ultimately my main goal is getting the ball rolling. Especially in film stuff
Plus ATL is cheaper to live in! Have you seen the homeless population in LA!
Living in California is extremely expensive!
@@Soccercrazyigboman he has said to start in what ever state or city u are in but if u want to grow more and more than the places like the big 3 atlanta la and ny
@@Soccercrazyigboman answer me something, buying a Netflix membership is worth it? I want to take my acting career seriously but what do you think?
I never comment. I never like. I rarely subscribe. But, you definitely deserve all three. Thank you.
Thanks so much for this video. I moved from L.A. to Atlanta in 2016 and didn't get back into Acting until 2019 and I can say that I've been busy with Auditions, Acting Classes, Booked 2 Jobs and got a Agent.
That is awesome!
@ThepoetShug Avery Yes! Are you in the Atlanta Area?

Thank God I live in Atlanta
I love this. I love the idea of being a professional actor. Just engulfing myself into a skill that is so enjoyable and proud... just wow. I would love to be just happy
Follow those dreams!
I am so thankful I came across your channel! Your videos are just FULL of useful information EVERY-TIME!!
So glad you're back!
Seriously - thank you for making this video. I found your channel a few days ago after getting serious about moving to a different state in the next year or so to pursue acting. I was nearly dead set on LA, but was also very hesitant about making that big of a move. This video helped a ton - as have many of your other videos. I had no idea the industry was as big as it is in Atlanta, and the possibilities have me very excited. The idea of having a welcoming community who wants everyone to thrive in the industry also sounds fantastic - as does the (much lower than LA) cost of living. Thank you again, these videos really do mean a lot and have taught me a ton.
I live in Riverdale Georgia, I'm an animator, I worked on "Rick and Morty", and "The Awesomes", but I'd like to break into acting, and I have taken some impov classes in the city. This video was encouraging.
What a blessing! Thank you sir for the education and inspiration. As a fellow actor and living a hour from Atlanta, I know I’m in the right place. I’ve subscribed to your You Tube Channel and am looking forward to continuing my growth as a successful working actor through the sound advice you offer on your channel. Thank you again!
Thank you so much for this, I'm a Seattle actress and my parents are moving to Georgia next year. It's nice to know I'll be able to continue my career over there!
Man, don't worry! It's certainly, not a bias opinion. Can we get a part II of this video with details for those who are ready to move?
maybe tips on newcomers?
Great idea. I'll try to make a video like that soon!

Hey Kurt! Been following your channel for quite some time now.
Me living in a third world country with dreams of coming to America and breaking into the industry one day, I had no actual knowledge of how I would go about doing that. But thanks to you, I feel like I now know at least the basics of what I will have to encounter and will have to get done if I ever move to the States one day. Again, I'd just like to say thank you! You're doing an awesome job on educating people about this business. May you prosper more.
This channel is incredible. I’ve been binge watching for the last two days and I’ve learned so much! Thank you 🙏
I have recently discovered your channel & love your videos! Your advice always hits the mark. I've been an actor for decades & recently moved to Atlanta from LA & was pleased to hear what you had to say about the acting opportunities here. I had been under the impression that, although many projects are shot here, that they were still cast in LA, so I feel encouraged. Keep up the good work!
Fantastic! Thanks for watching and welcome to Atlanta!
Thank you for the video, I love your work!
Great info, thanks! Glad you're back to dropping these gems. As a small market(Houston by way of Akron) actor with big market dreams, I am inspired by your success. Keep 'em coming!
Thanks for watching! Always cool to meet other actors from Northeast Ohio!
This video literally blew my mind. Very helpful, thank you.
I cannot stop watching these videos. Thank you so much.
I knew you looked familiar! You were on Insatiable! My mom and I just watched that and loved it.
Anyway, thank you for this. I decided to start acting when I graduated high school a couple years ago and I was dead set on LA. I packed up all of my things two weeks ago and set out l, but my the time I got there something in my gut was telling me it wasn't right. I came back home discouraged after only being there for a day. Since then my mom has been researching Atlanta and sending me lots of videos on it like this one. I really feel like it is the best place for me. I'm so excited. This is the most informative video I've seen. I feel so sure about this decision now.
Fantastic info! Thank you so much for this video. Ohio isn’t doing too badly here for acting work lately but ATL really seems to be where it’s at for emerging talent looking to make it a solid career. Working on getting out there myself ASAP. You rock! Thanks again!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much! I love your videos. I am a new fellow actor and have been contemplating moving back South after I retire. I started acting at 59 yrs old and have been pretty active in the Seattle area and have a manager and representative by two agencies. This video has given me hope. Please keep making the videos. Thanks!
I'm planning on moving to Atlanta next spring! Thank you so much for the info!
Amazing Video. Thanks for all the info. Like you I knew nothing about the film industry in Atlanta and have been doing my research about it. You video is very informative and sheds a lot of light on what it's like to live there. Thanks again :)
Holy Crapola!!!! The increase in your auditions is Absofreakinlutely Amazing!!! WTG!!!!! Break a Leg!✌🏼💕🎬😎
Crazy right! Atlanta has treated me very well!
Kurt, thank you soooo much. I honestly didn't know where to go to grow an acting career, I was one of those guy's who wanted to move to LA. But this video helped me so much.

This is so helpful and informative. Thanks so much!
That's it, I'm moving to Atlanta! Thank you Kurt for sharing your experience and for making this video:) It's been so helpful! I'm excited to move to Atlanta at the end of this month!!
Did you move to pursue acting? How’s it going?
Hey! I’m working on deciding the best choice for my acting career in the near future. I’ve been doing a lot of research and I really appreciate your videos. I had no idea how big Atlanta was in the film industry. Your channel has been very informative!
Kurt! You are the MAN!!! Dude.. I was already considering moving to ATL but now I KNOW I'm loving to ATL!!! Much appreciated, my dude.
Happy to help! Hope you love Atlanta as much as I do!
This is why I moved here! So much opportunity and a great place to network. Thank you for this video. Good luck to everyone.
when he said he got 76 auditions the first year moving to ATL, my mouth went wide open, I was so shocked
I just started getting into acting and your videos are just so positive and helpful
Thank you❤️
Lived back in Atlanta 2016/2017. Had to move back to Virginia but thinking about going coming back to Atlanta. SAG-E and in IATSE 487
Thank you so much for this, I was doubting about moving to Atlanta for acting cause of the lack of acting gigs. Now, I know where to go in case I do need to get out of Chicago to do bigger stuff.
Hey man I just found your channel about a week ago and have been watching some of your videos and I want to thank you for all the information. Your very inspirational and one of the reasons I want to move to Atlanta and start my acting Career. P.S. keep it up man
Kurt Thank you so much for this information ! Definitely helps ! 💯🙏
Thanks for the video! Great stuff. I think the community here is the best!
Couldn't agree more!
As I approach retirement from the military, this is great to hear! I think I’ll add Atlanta to the top of my list.
I knew Atlanta was the place to move to after seeing that Georgia Peach at the end of so many end credits of movies & shows... I have family living in Augusta, GA. I from and live in North Carolina.
I have been acting in feature films, TV shows and commercials here in Oklahoma City for several years. I have gone as far as I can go here. Your video has told me what I already know is I need to move to Atlanta to push the acting career further. Thank You for your videos. They are very helpful and inspiring
Hello Charles, would you want to chat with me about my daughter that’s a high school senior that wants to act right after high school but also go to college? We don’t have an opinion either way because we don’t know enough about the business but I’m thinking what you’re referring to in OKC may be a good starting point then she can decide what she wants to do. Thanks!
Very interesting love listening to you I’m learning already
Thank you for your insight! I'm an actor preparing to relocate from St. Louis, but I'm not 100% sure where to go yet. This video helped put some things in perspective for me. Definitely will give Atlanta some serious thought.
This video answers a lot of questions. Thanks!
❤ 😍 this video planning on mo ing there in March.
This was wonderful! Thank you! Grew up in CA and am really not interested in returning. But living outside of Seattle right now has proven to have very little film/tv opportunities. I’ve got lots of theatre experience as a actor/singer/dancer but am ready to branch out! I’ve been researching alternatives to LA and NY and Atlanta seems like the perfect place for some one like me!
Thanks for watching! Yes, Atlanta is a great (maybe the best) place to start an acting career in film and tv!
Hey I love all your videos. Just getting into acting and these videos have been helping a ton. Hopefully I get to see you on set one day
Thank you for giving us the best advice from your recommendation between Atlanta, California, and New York because I've always wanted to go to California to pursue my dream for acting but at the same time, I didn't want to go cause how dangerous it can be, how expensive the living can be, and how hard the auditions may be. Thank you, you have made me changed my mind completely in order for myself to try out auditions at Atlanta instead.
thank you so much for this video, it made me think more to move to Atlanta than LA, for better opportunities thank you so much :)
I got my self taping stuff ready and I'm going to start soon🎉
I just moved to Atlanta to pursue my passion of acting! Thank you for this video, I appreciate your channel 😊
Can u tell specific location nearby to stay in for audition.
how is it going so far?!
I really like your video, I’ve always wanted to be an actor since I was a very young child and I got caught up with other work in my life but I’ve always always want to be an actor and now I am starting to pursue this dream your videos are amazing and very inspiring and very informative so thank you so much! He’s making amazing videos I will always watch them!
This video is fantastic, Kurt!! Thank you for putting out so much great material here. I've worked as an headshot photographer for actors in LA for the past 7 years. I moved to Atlanta to open my main studio last year and I can say that this information is spot on! If you're looking to break into acting, Atlanta is the place to be right now. It's not nearly as saturated as LA and you'll have great opportunities to sign with quality agents and start booking roles. I've had several actor friends move here and their careers have taken off! Anyways, thanks for all the helpful info and keep up the great work!
Oh, I also have to comment that you're totally correct about supportive and welcoming the film/acting community is in Atlanta! Very different from my personal experience in LA. Atlanta might not be for everybody but it's been a perfect fit for me!
Thanks for sharing, Joe! Yeah, I know so many people that moved here from LA or NYC and say it's the best decision they ever made.
Thank you Kurt. This is timely advice. One of my acting buddies just moved there and I'm seriously considering following suit. (I actually lived and worked there as a federal gov't employee in 1980! Aging myself I know, which is even more reason for me to get moving sooner than later.) And Kurt, haha, I got you beat..earlier this year at the young age of 67, I took my 1st acting class. 😅 My inspiration comes from a former roommate and friend who didn't get into acting till he was 60 years old, starred in many major motion pictures and even ended up teaching acting in LA.
George Randall was his name..he passed away in 2019 at 95.
Omg!!! Today I decided to find out how to because a actor.. watching your videos made my shiver.. I’m in FL right now I’ve been thinking about moving to ATL & now I I have a better reason too
I did too moved from Florida to the area in 2017 an it is mind boggling to find out how much films here in Georgia. It was great to have you as a guest in Actors Circle, I have been following you for a while and I am addicted to your channel
Thanks for watching! Fingers crossed that production here in Atlanta starts back up soon!
Thanks for the great video, Kurt! I just subscribed. I've been a working actor in Atlanta since 2009, represented since 2015. I've seen our industry grow so much over the last decade. I love working in Atlanta! I have a wonderful agent who is actually accessible and submits me for great auditions frequently (of course COVID-19 put a temporary hold on things). The cost of living is definitely less than LA; allowing our family to rent a 3 bedroom house for under $1000 per month. The best thing about being in Atlanta is the uniquely amazing and supportive community of artists we have here. ♥️
100% to all of this!
What part of the city did you move to? And are the rental rates still that low?!
This video opened my mind a lot. Thank you💯🙏🏾
Glad it was helpful!
Great value in this video. Thanks !
I am 38 and about to start acting classes in Atlanta. I have lived in Georgia all my life and always thought i needed to move to New York or LA to be an actor and so i never persude it. There are always movies and shows being filmed near where i live. A lot of Marvel Movies too! Thanks for all your informative videos Kurt! Your story is very inspiring and motivates me to be an actor. I hope your career continues to grow man.
When you spoke about being a former software engineer that spoke to me. I've been getting interested in development for its financial benefits but my heart as always been with acting and creating artistic work. LOVE you sharing your personal experience so happy I still had the notifications on from your channel circa 3 year ago. Hehehe
Haha thanks for watching even though I've been gone for so long!
Great video, I live in LA and just got into SAG and am thinking of trying a smaller market. I was in Chicago before and seemed to get more work there than LA. I am considering moving to a smaller market and was curious about New Orleans, because I like the vibe, but of course know there are far many more opportunities in ATL. Thanks for the tips!
Thanks for this great intro video!
I’ve been thinking of going to Atlanta to pursue an acting career and this video helped inspire me to continue with this. I’m also a fellow Clevelander!
I know at least 6 or 7 other actors down here from Cleveland!
Cannot believe what I just saw, you replied to all the comments. Wow, you are such an amazing guy. I live in UK, but Atlanta will be my goal. Thank you.
haha, I'm trying to but as my channel grows, it's getting harder to keep up.
Great to see a new video from you! How is the commercial industry over there? Also I would love to see a video on what neighborhoods are best in Atlanta if pursuing acting. Congrats on your success!
Thanks for the idea!
There's a good amount of commercial work in Georgia and the Southeast in general but it is heavily non-union work, in my experience. I used to audition for commercials every week when I was non-union but since I joined SAG-AFTRA, I'm probably going in about once a month. That's just my experience though, other actors could be going in quite a bit more.
I'm just a teenager in England but thank you so much for this video it has really helped me make decisions for the future.
Glad you found the information helpful!
Hey hey! Good seeing you. I also moved in 2016 :)
Hi Ana!
This s crazy..all this time I've been wanting to move to Cali because I don't want to miss an opportunity!
Hello dears,
I totally agree about LA…crazy expensive city …. Just headshots are from 650-1200…
When I graduated from CalArts I couldn’t imagine how expensive it will be to continue my career in LA… So, I wanna give a chance Atlanta :) cannot wait to come and start working and growing. Thank you so so much for the videos.

You commented this 3 months before I took my first class - I'm also in software/data science and now trying acting! I'd love to hear if you picked this up!
@@ActingCareerCenteryeah as a south african I'm definitely going to consider Atlanta now I was gonna go to Europe and Mexico after becoming a big star in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town especially through local Netflix and Showmax shows like Blood and Water, Adulting etc use that to hopefully force LA Agents to give me a chance as well get me into those blockbusters but now I'm still gonna try for Europe to get my name out there but it seems through Atlanta the process will be much shorter so I'm definitely targeting Atlanta
Half of my family lives in Atlanta. I'm expanding right where I am, so it's cool.

Hey Kurt! Came across this a little late but your videos are super helpful and informative. I really appreciate how thorough you are and you’ve really been an inspiration. For someone not familiar with Atlanta, what cities/towns would you recommend looking at? Hopefully with a decent cost of living, but also within a good community and a reasonable commute?
I lived in L.A. he’s exactly right.. I worked 2 jobs and didn’t have time for auditions. And I was getting them under John Casablanca and Central casting

Great video. New subscriber!
I've been considering ATL for a while. I've been acting in NYC for 5 years and I've been auditioning about 8-12 times a week for a variety of production types. My only concern about ATL is the lack of demand of local actors of color in lead roles(outside of Tyler Perry Prd) in comparison to NYC.
Of course this is an outside perspective and I could be totally wrong about this.
That being said many of my dream shows/role types are in ATL. 🤔. Also cost of living is way less than NYC.
Thank you for sharing your audition numbers. That's really inspiring.
Thank you for this video! Can you do a video on what neighborhoods are the best to move in Atlanta? Again, thank you!
I will work on it!
Great video Kurt - very insightful. Have been planning to move to L.A from Sydney within the next 3 years but I'm now thinking Atlanta may be the way to go.

Glad it was helpful! Like I said, there's no perfect destination for any actor to move to. Bud I do think everyone should give Atlanta a hard look before making a decision. If you do end up in Atlanta, hope to see you on set some day!
It would be great if you made a video for those moving to or considering Atlanta with more specific information as to the areas of Atlanta, where are most casting offices located, and about actor communities in Atlanta, etc.

4:00 So delighted to came across your channel. I'm subscribing, because I want to learn more. Also, can you recommend a good acting school? Thank you!
Great information. The abundance of work, supportive community and affordability are strong points. I'm a native born L.A./Santa Monica actor/stand up, and the "community" there does NOT have the vibe that ATL has. Over the years I've witnessed an influx of people who come to L.A. to become overnight stars, without doing the work. This has resulted in a lot of bitter waiters and waitresses, who've yet to be "discovered." I honestly love L.A., my hometown, yet it's unpleasant to experience these unrealistic personalities, who behave in a cutthroat manner. They often go back to where they came from. Collaboration with others to support the film story is where I get some of my greatest satisfaction as an actor.
I’ve moved back and forth to Hollywood from Dallas and Austin. I was already in my 40s in 2003 the first time I moved to Los Angeles but back then there was 24/7 extra work along with classes and auditions etc I had lower expectations being older and have acted some in Texas too but of course have to juggle other jobs etc. Might make a trip to Atlanta All the homeless in CA is so sad and the priciness is upsetting though but the scenery and beach and acting events are interesting though.
Hi Kurt,
Thank you for this program and the others you've posted. They're informative, genuine and honest. I'm an actor as well...in a different market, but greatly appreciate the integrity of your perspective.
I look forward to seeing more of your offerings and maybe work w you in future. Blessings and much continued success and prosperity in your endeavors. What kind of photography do you shoot?
Glad you are finding the videos helpful! I primarily shoot actor headshots.
