      The best way to build confidence is to do things you're not sure you can do. The best way to get over shyness is to become an actor - just do it. Feel the fear and do it anyway. Soon enough you'll be the one answering peoples questions about how to overcome shyness. I guarantee it. You can't even answer that question unless you've BEEN the shy one who overcame it.
      Don't make excuses, take a class. The difference between winners and losers is that winners will find a solution to every problem and losers will find a problem with every solution. If you REALLY want something, you'll find a way. If you don't really want it - you'll find an excuse.
      Kurt just gave you the solution - don't be a loser.
      Take a class.
      BTW, Playhouse West in Los Angeles only costs $225 per month.
      PW is one of the best schools in Los Angeles (started by Jeff Goldblum)
      If you can't afford THAT - you're just making excuses.
      A job at McDonalds pays $3,482 per month.
      Stop making excuses.

      Talent is what you need to succeed in this business - not luck. That's why actors never say "Good luck" to each other - it implies that the only way you're going to succeed is because you got lucky. Instead, we say "break a leg". And that phrase goes back to the days of Vaudeville (early 20th century). You can Google that phrase in order to learn more about it's origins, but in the mean time - break a leg! Hope you get cast!

    Hello, my Name is Zachary, I've been recently intrigued and very interested in the screen acting industry, (I've watched a good deal of your videos!).That's so crazy that you used to live in the Cleveland area! I myself live in the greater Cleveland area and was skeptical about how many opportunity's there would be around here. I've been homeschooled my whole life and I'm currently finishing up the 10th Grade. Although portrayed to be extremely easy, my homeschool curriculum was much more intense then most, and my school days typically last about the same if not longer then the normal 8-4 public school curriculum. With my new ignited interest in acting I was hoping to get into acting classes this summer, is there any specific place you recommend in the Cleveland area? Thanks, love the videos!

    • @ActingCareerCenter
      @ActingCareerCenter  Před 3 lety

      An actor demo reel is an edited video collection of an actor's best performances (typically between 30 seconds and 3 minutes long). It's similar to an artist's portfolio. If you were a sketch artist, you would have a folder with some examples of your best work to show to people. An actor's demo reel is a collection of an actor's best work to show to people. Talent agents, managers, casting directors, and potential employers view demo reels when searching for new acting talent.

      It may be low, but not impossible. I'm starting to see a lot of Asian actors get quite a bit of exposure these days so keep trying. Besides, did you watch the Oscars last Sunday? An Asian female director won for her film.

      Asians are actually over-represented in acting. So statistically it's actually easier for you if you're asian. Embrace the privelege :)

    Thank you so much Kurt! I really appreciate everything that you're sharing here. I've been brainstorming in creating my own short films, how would I put these in my resume, if I'm doing them by myself? I was thinking about posting them in CZcams, would this be considered credit that I can add to imdb?

    • @ActingCareerCenter
      @ActingCareerCenter  Před 3 lety +2

      Yes, you can (and should) add it to IMDb when you create your own short films. The other actors you cast will appreciate it as well!

    Hi, when you book a movie or tv show, can you practice your sides with a friend from school or coworker from work for example, without getting in trouble for sharing the plot of spoilers? Or do you only get them when you get to set. Thank you! Love your videos🥰

    • @ActingCareerCenter
      @ActingCareerCenter  Před 2 lety +4

      You can practice them with someone you trust. Someone who will not go and post spoilers all over the internet :)

  • @pipcior3093
    @pipcior3093 Před rokem

    I'm sorry if I sound dumb, but does roleplay count as acting experience? I mean, you are also acting out a role and so on... or am I dumb?
    I also have another question: Do you have a video where it shows how an audition takes place? I only read from a website, that you go in a room and you show what you got there.
    But I don't know if you get a script what you have to do there or if there are any things in the room to work with and so on an this is something that im kind of "scared" of...
    Btw. today I started watching your videos and I already know so much about being an actor and it's just amazing. You really helped me to get to know what you must/should do in this or this situation, which is great!

    Can you make a video on child/ teen actor advice

    • @liquidbraino
      @liquidbraino Před 2 lety +1

      Same as for anyone else - take acting classes; get headshots; sign up on casting sites. One major difference though is that producers have to pay more to hire child actors so they will try to hire people that are over 18 which look under 18 (it's $600 extra they have to pay to the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement because otherwise - they are breaking child labor laws). If you've done no acting at all though - don't try to be an actor, try to be a student. Take classes first and maybe if you can get into the RIGHT school you might get discovered while performing in a play for that school - but that depends on your location. You're probably not going to find a great school if you live in Guerra TX but if you're in Dallas (or Los Angeles CA) you'll have better luck. If you don't live in the US - I don't know what to tell you, I've been in Los Angeles my whole life.

    What's a demo reel? Is that the video showing your clips at the start of your video? Is it just to showcase different roles you have done?
