    It’s crazy that so many professional actors literally fell into being one. I personally have trained for a huge portion of my life here in London to become an actor and will hopefully next year be going to one of the best acting schools in the world where I will have to put in 55 hour weeks for 4 years to develop my craft to the point where I can call myself an “actor” and even then I probably will spend my whole life never even appearing in a film as big as the ones this guy stars in. Funny how life works huh.

      SO TRUE! The video starts with him saying, " I went to the RIGHT bar and met the RIGHT guy". It's all about RIGHT place, RIGHT time, RIGHT opportunity. It's important for all 3 to add up and so many actors never get that chance. Keep pushing on and make sure your life is full outside of acting. Praying that one day all 3 add up for you!

    • @jrusovich
      @jrusovich Před 2 lety +3

      Right place, right time, right look, right attitude...lots of luck, especially after you fall. Most people don't get back up after that. The vast majority of highly successful actors that I have known over the years did not spend much time in the trenches. They had something special about them that was obvious to everyone. Matthew is one of them. He's extraordinarily talented, compelling personally, easy-going and the kind of person who connects with people in a way that's always memorable. School doesn't teach those things. Having said all of this, most people aren't all Internet billionaires, either. And many attended Stanford.

  • @charleshurstreinvention3959

    I really wish they would talk about the nepotism and many things out of the control of the artist in terms of "making it." Some of you out there (including this writer and vlogger) have the artist aspiration. You have been told by the very few who made it to believe in yourself and never give up. Well the simply fact is the arts are very different than any other profession. Because usually--someone else has to let you in. Now what I would tell you if you are 18 or 40 and feel that your destiny is in the arts? I would not tell you to just stay the "safe route" and give up on your dreams. I would tell you to pursue the artist aspiration smartly. Get another trade that you at least like. So the agents of industry never have you by the throat. You have to go to work anyway so you might as well have the job that pays well. I never went through the starving artist phase. I went through a starving student phase. So when I finally did pursue the artist endeavor I did it with a job I also like that contracts for 100K a year and four month vacations in Europe. That's how you go through being a starving artist. You don't starve at all. Hope this helps someone---Charles

    Yesterday I saw Matthew starring in a super lame car commercial that extolled the virtues of wanton materialism.
    Maybe Matt can give a talk on "How to Sell Out and Cash in Big Time" next week...

    I made friends or at least acquaintances with a very intelligent filmmaker who has directed some of my very favorite (Dafoe, Hoffman) actors of all time and eternity mf. I needed to check myself in my approach BUT I also called him out for ignoring the Weinstein company he worked for. So - old news I guess but that cult out there is for cowards. Would love to act. But it's full of losers. Sir Matthew M is one of my favorite actors. How do you know when it's just about money?
