    I really like the photo biker series! I sold my motorcycle in spring of '21; my age and health makes it unlikely that I will ride again. So, I live vicariously through these videos. The sample course segment, that I ordered from your site, should arrive soon. I'm not sure which course would be most appropriate, but I'm trying to figure that out.

If you can do all these without having to think about it, The 7 Building Blocks Of Photography will give you the ability to think like a photographer, combine the technical and creative aspects of photography effortlessly and easily. 7 Block does not touch on any camera controls or settings. ... • @grumpyrocker

    Great video as always Mike. On the subject of camera features I think many modern features are useful. There are so many different kinds of photographers. So there may be one or two features on your camera you don't need. But I do. And someone else with the same camera might use features that are there for them, but not us. That's what makes some modern cameras so good - they can be used for so many different things. I don't agree with those who say "I don't use this feature so they should remove it" as though that body was made just for them. Such features, the universality, keeps the price down for us all. We benefit from features we may not use. And of we want to try something new in future, we don't need a new camera.

    • @MikeBrowne
      @MikeBrowne  Před 2 lety +2

      I agree @Grumpyrocker that there are many useful features. Auto focus modes, histograms, live view, adjustable ISO and many more. I don't suggest ones I don't like or use should be removed, I'm saying we don't need them. Need is different to them being kinda handy. But some are pointless. Adjustable dynamic range for example. Why would anyone want to make their camera less efficient? And when it gives me the option of 200% dynamic range I know I'm being lied to. 100% is 100%. You can't fit 200% into a 100% glass... ... MIKE🙏😊

    • @grumpyrocker
      @grumpyrocker Před 2 lety

      @@MikeBrowne I find those dynamic range settings on Fuji cameras handy. They protect the highlights and bring up the shadows. No point when shooting RAW, but great for JPG in tricky conditions. I think they are mislabelled really - in effect they are subtle HDR. I tend to leave it set to auto as it'll just use 200 when it needs to.

    I been going about on a 250cc scooter Yamaha xmax lately I might buy another bigger bike one day but the 90mpg with the cost of fuel lately helps keep the scooter as good option as I get 80 mph if needed, I getting some lighter camera gear as the full frame d850 and pro lenses I use is too heavy I just getting a small mirrorless to take on my travels. Good video as always Mike.

    As much as I enjoy your series Mike, I do wonder though, how do you shoot a picture?
    Is it really possible to shoot with a camera. Maybe we should focus yes, on making a picture. It is too much shooting these days. All the best to you all from me.

    • @MikeBrowne
      @MikeBrowne  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you @Ivar Dahl-Larsen. "How do you shoot a picture?" 1st step is to be aware of the suroundings and what is happening, then to decide how you want it to look, move yourself into the right position and choose focal length and camera settings that will give you that look then press the shutter. Photography is not about shooting hundreds of frames, it's about choosing what you want and thinking the shot through... MIKE🙏😊

    • @ivardahl-larsen
      @ivardahl-larsen Před 2 lety

      @@MikeBrowne Thank you for the answer Mike, but as a photographer actually been longer at it than you, it is not how to photograph I wonder about, but the word to shoot. How can you shoot anything with a camera Mike? Let us please come away from the word shoot. There is too much shooting as it is, I'm afraid. I appreciate your teaching of people less knowledgeable than I am but stop shooting please. All the best.

    As you where about 200m from where I live in Lyndhurst it was quite weird to see you outside the Crown, a bit like a News item, anyway, have you thought of or tried anti glare screen protectors on your camera screen, I have them now on my phone and iPad and was hoping they would have been here for Easter, to use on my cameras, however if they are as good as they are on my other tech then I think it’s going to be a game changer.

      Hey David... Long standing connection with Lyndhurst. My grandparents had a B&B just past the Fire Station and my Grandmother's ashes are under the Yew tree at Boltons bench! Can't wait for the Photo-Biker workshop to begin there.. I'll look into them. For me it's less about glare than balance. The bright sky makes pupils contract so the LCD appears darker than it is, almost black in this case. .... MIKE🙏😊
