    Sir Jimmy is what in Italy we call : una bestia rara: a rare beast. Usually, great virtuosos start very young with a great discipline, but they leave it once they reach the success. There is on you tube an interview to Rampal, who confess he didn't practice anymore. Jimmy, as a old man, he still have the passion and the discipline necessary to develop the flute playing in every aspect. He's an example for every serious musician.

      @marco6703 Před 8 lety +2

      I don't talk shit about Rampal. I just wrote down what he said about himself.

      Robert Giles I used to think about whos better, blah blah. eventually I grew up from such childish thoughts, to know its preference.

    • @gcg8187
      @gcg8187 Před 7 lety +1

      Robert Giles well, yes and no. when you go out to eat, u go for what you prefer. some like barbeque, some like pizza, and some enjoy pasta. neither one is better, same goes for flutists.
      and to say pahud is better than buriakov, or vice versa is a childish mentality. I dont mean to accuse u, im simply telling my opinion on that behavior as it is.

    • @marco6703
      @marco6703 Před 7 lety +3

      Guys....it's not about who is better. we are flutists, and doesn't really matter which level. The only point is the progress with the instrument. And the only one who insists on practicing is Jimmy. You may agreed or not. But it is only what happens...

    I started on a Selmer Bundy flute when I was 11 almost 12 (I got that flute on my 12th birthday) but I agree that mechanically those flutes are not good at all. The first major flute piece that I learned was Arthur Honegger's Danse de la Chèvre. I was 15 when I started working on it and I was 16 when I performed it. I'm 23 and I'm relearning the Nielsen Concerto. :)

    • @andrewlaverghetta715
      @andrewlaverghetta715 Před 6 lety +2

      My first flute was also a Selmer, but I don't remember seeing the Bundy name with it at all. This was in 1994 or 95 and I was 11 I think. I still have that flute somewhere, but my niece used it for school and in marching band, so it does require some service. Otherwise, it'd serve very well and I see nothing wrong with my particular model. I remember playing the Faure Fantaisie at some point in high school. Senior year was Chaminade Concertino and some other things like Mozart Concerto in G.

      I remember that flute. If you could play that hunk of metal you probably could play anything after

    @Lisnageeragh Před 5 lety

    Love the two four bit...things have not changed much! Young flute players are attempting pieces that are far too difficult.

  • @jcortese3300
    @jcortese3300 Před rokem

    Okay, if even James Galway uses cheat fingerings from conical bores to play high on his top hand, I'm not going to feel bad about doing the same thing when I have to go from Cnat to D!
