MISTAKES
1. when discussing Mortal Kombat, when mentioning the 10 year graphical leap, I meant to put in footage showing the contrast between the eras of gaming, and totally forgot... woops...
2. When discussing Final Fantasy VI and reviving General Leo, I, at one point, accidentally say Emperor Leo, then to back to calling him General Leo.
3. I apologize for referring to Ridley as female TWICE in this video. honestly, two apologies was probably necessary anyway. I must have accidentally typed up those parts about Ridley in such a time span that I forgot I did, same goes for the recording process. I think enough time passed from the first time I apologized while recording that I simply forgot I already had!
(I was once again sick while recording some of the audio for this one. The recording process was over the course of a month, so changes in my voice are probably quite noticeable! Also, my microphone picked up a lot of mouse clicking throughout the recording, so, hopefully it's not too distracting. I did my best to edit them out as much as I can. Oh, and my cat of course meows at least once in this video, so, watch out for that!) - Zábava
As a mobile user, can I just say how amazing it is that this 8 hour video has virtually no ads?
What a legend
I make sure my videos only have ads at either the beginning or the end, NEVER in the middle! Though I now have CZcams premium, I know what it's like listening to a video while gaming, only for an ad to start playing, and having to skip it while in the middle of gameplay. There's a very specific moment from about 10 years ago or so, long before I was a CZcamsr, I was playing Destiny and in the middle of a raid, listening to a video, and I swear, ads kept popping up every couple minutes, and I couldn't skip them because I was in the middle of something, and I remember thinking to myself, "if I ever make CZcams videos, I'll never have ads in the middle, this is really annoying" lol.
@@NEScRETRO I really appreciate that. I've been listening to a lot of long form content as of late, and I get how hard that is to make. But having to skip an ad every 20 minuets can get old.
I was an hour into this before i realized I never had to skip once. You've done a great job with the video, it flows nicely and I'm never feeling bored, and I'm in hour 4. Just felt like I had to appreciate the well timed ad breaks.
Thank you for your work!
For real
@@NEScRETROMan, you have all of my respect for this.
Guys, it’s true: you can unlock Waluigi in Super Mario 64 but only in the XBox 360 version.
Can confirm, you can also unlock Daisy on the PS2 version
The Sega cd exclusive is way better you get to play as baby yoshi
I know you're kidding here, but I remember a story of Mario 64 being on the Xbox Marketplace for a very short time along with Mario Kart 64
If you use a pc emulator you can play as Yoshi's dad, Yobby
You're all lame as hell
I love how you used TAS footage while talking about how your grandma was good at SMB3. I'm imagining your grandma as a mario prodigy who just casually plays frame perfect mario.

Bro get a life
I'm not exaggerating when I say I've been putting all of your videos on repeat when it comes to work or sleep almost every day since the first Mario 64 Iceberg video. Your voice is very easy to listen to, and your videos are so great and straight to the point. The kind of creator that can make you sit down for hours and hear all about something, even if you've either never heard of nor have been interested in the thing before. It's a reminder that no matter how corporate CZcams is, or more big names being revealed to be scummy, there will always be videos like these.
This is the good side of CZcams that can never die out -- just good, genuine, passionate people having a nice long talk sharing their favorite things.
That really means a lot to hear, thank you so much! I'm always worried my voice is super nasaly and hard to listen to lol. Not to mention I was sick during a portion of recording this video lol. I do my best to research points that I don't know, and that ends up making this videos take forever to make!
@@NEScRETROI really do notice the research that went into this! Especially hearing all the channels and videos you recommend, that I know from experience would take a long enough amount of time to watch
Straight to the point? This video is 7 hours long! 😂
@@NEScRETRO It's not the best voice but not the worst either, it's listenable. To many youtubers who do this kind of stuff won't record a sample and see how it actually sounds like coming from a speaker before they decide to become youtubers. Voice is even more important than presentation in this kind of content.
@@aboliokhazana7022 I just got a new microphone and recording setup, so hopefully I can make everything sound even better! I suppose it also comes down to my own voice as well, and script writing, so, I'll try to improve there as well!
i grew up playing club penguin. i started in 2009 when i was 8 years old. i hadn't played the game in years, but revisiting in 2017 when i was 16 to finally tip the iceberg was a memory i will never forget.

This video is pretty long so I'll update the timestamps as I go along. Should take me a few more days to finish :)
You absolutely do not need to do this unless you really want to! I appreciate it very much, but that's an insane amount of time that this sort of project will take!
@@NEScRETRO Nah it's all right, i like making timestamps, and I'm watching the video anyway so it's not like I'm wasting time or anything :)
This is the first channel i've seen where the creator actively interacts with the fanbase. I really appreciate everything you do, keep it up!
@FossaKingAve I do my best to acknowledge every comment, and reply if I have anything to add/say. A lot of people think it's a bot doing it, but nope, I just check in every now and then when I'm awake lol.
@@FossaKingAve I was thinking the same thing. Great videos + creator that cares about the fanbase? Great combination lol
The best and most in-depth iceberg channel uploading a seven hour iceberg??? No way. Insane amount of work and effort, thank you so much man!!
One thing that I really like about your videos is the usage of PC-98 Touhou music. Not only are they really underrated and having other people hear them is a great idea, their chiptune nature also fits perfectly with most of the NES/SNES era games that's in these types of videos. The video itself is cool, the music choice is brilliant, what can I say this is just a great video.
I absolutely love the PC-98 era of touhou games! The music in those 5 games is amazing, and there were dozens of tracks that I just as easily could have used, it's all THAT good!
NEScRETRO videos are like books. You don't really sit down and read/watch them in one sitting, but whenever you have time.
Yeah, I treat these kinds of videos like audiobooks. I keep it open in the background of whatever I'm doing and just listen to it over the course of a day or two.
then theres me
I watch videos at 4x speed so I watch multiple huge videos per day.
Finally, a video to listen to at work.

BIGGEST ICEBERG DROP OF THE CENTURY! I was just rewatching the CZcams iceberg! I can just tell this one is gonna be even better (because it's longer of course). Thanks for the awesome content!
The Ultimate Creepypasta Iceberg by Dylan is even longer, which is I think 17 hours? I don't remember, so I'm pretty sure it's also the longest ever. If Sweguin's CZcams Iceberg series gets finished, I bet it would be *EVEN LONGER* than that.
The conspiracy iceberg has 9 hours on wendigoon
These are the best icebergs though cause they have
*more on that later*
I’ve been rewatching your other icebergs a lot lately, so excited to watch through this!!
I didn't expect to see you here. I can't wait for your 200k subscriber special were you are going to make a ranking of all 2d mario levels.
Yoooo Odyssey Central’s here!? I love your content! Thanks for being a great dude!
he made a nearly 8 hour long and didn’t put a single ad
What a legend
The youtuber who makes (by far) the BEST icebergs just dropped a BOMB! Can't wait to watch it!!
I miss the era of gaming before the internet, where rumors, speculations and urban legends used to exist and were very popular, so much discussion about whether something actually exists or not etc...
It was truly a magical and mysterious time for gaming!
46:30 CUTE KITTY MEOW :3
i love all the immense work you put into these videos. Usually for icebergs if I hear a topic I already know about, I skip it. I haven't skipped a single topic, despite knowing about many topics, because you always add new info I've never heard before! Quality youtuber.

I think the Chilliad thing was a teaser for single player GTA V DLC's that scrapped. Latest Rockstar leaks showed that they planned at least 3 DLC with Alien, zombie and secret agent themes
I really wish they did single player DLC, it really would have been amazing, or at least implement the new dlc vehicles into single player without needing to mod... unless they did do that and I was just oblivious lol
I knew at least 80% of the entries on here. So much nostalgia and things I had forgotten. Growing up with the 90s/early 2000s internet was so amazing, I miss it.
Wow... Just wow. The fact that I've got 7.5 hours to watch another amazing iceberg video right after Christmas is probably the best gift I could possibly receive. Thank you for your wonderful videos and I can't wait for more awesome icebergs and for your channel to gain more subscribers!
I only saw like, one person mention about polybius but Ahoy did a great video a few years back debunking polybius. If anyone has an hour or so to spare, it’s an absolutely fantastic video about the legend.
Watching through this video again for like the third time...? Just wanted to say that the way you incorporate personal tidbits like how Sonic 2 was the first game you ever played makes these videos infinitely times better. It just gives that sense of personality and someone is talking to you about this stuff, rather than just going through a list of facts. You're one of my favorite youtubers, so glad I found your channel
Sonic 2 was the first game i ever played!!! Thats crazy
Welcome back, man!! You’re one of my favorite content creators and it’s always a joy to see you upload a new video! I love the longer videos. Hope you’ve been well!
The hot coffee thing was a genius marketing ploy. I have no doubt it wasn’t done on purpose. But after that happened people made damn sure to snatch up gta games at launch very quickly. Such gold.
This video needs more views the way you make everything so relatable makes it seem like im talking to a friend and doesnt seem like an ai written script
The reality of AI creating CZcams videos is just about the norm now, and I feel it takes a lot of personality out of the videos. Obviously, that goes without saying, but it's just becoming more widespread now, and this is really just the beginning. Soon, they'll probably be able to even edit the videos themselves.
@@NEScRETRO that's why I appreciate the video so much I have watched the same video made by others but ur personality made it better
an iceberg truly large enough to take out an unsinkable ship. thank you for this tremendous post-holiday gift!
The biggest mystery is how you're able to make videos this good. This was an awesome watch man. Definitely putting this on if I have a long drive
7 and a half hours!!!!! Oh this is gonna be special. Excited to watch this
This is the content I subscribe to and support nowadays. We have gazillion youtubers who just care about hitting that 10+minute mark on their video, sometimes talking straight nonsense to do so. This channel, and similar ones, produce art and the quality and passion put into it are palpable. Bravo and congratulations on another masterpiece!
7 hours!? 1000% worth the wait. You have no idea how many times im gonna watch this thing.
No joke, I've probably listened to this video beginning to end like 15 times now. It is such cozy sleeping material, and times like now when I'm sick it's borderline therapeutic.
Dude the gameplay of Sonic 3 bonus orb level getting the third emerald was maybe the craziest shit I've ever seen???
so, that gameplay is a TAS (Tool-Assisted Speedrun) meaning that all inputs are programmed into the game beforehand to create a theoretical "perfect" playthrough, so I'm not sure if it's actually possible for a human to do that, but it definitely is fun to watch!
@@NEScRETRO oh I didn't realize it was tool assisted that makes sense lol.
10 year old me in 2011 watching videos about herobrine genuinely terrified
This is the first video of yours I've watched, and this was a beyond amazing watch! The personal tangents made this video a very comfortable experience, it was very nice!
Some people think they're a waste of time, but I think it's nice to add a personal touch whenever you can, it makes the videos feel much less "wikipedia dump" lol
@@NEScRETRO yesss, true!! that's a very cool way of putting it. im surprised some folks are not a fan of them because it was probably one of my favorite aspects of the iceberg
and specially on such a diverse and subjective topic like vg myths, the small tangents adds sooooo much
A thought about the L is real 2401 plaque that I don't think I have seen anyone mention before (but maybe they have). Looking closely at the texture, what is supposedly a 2 looks a lot more like the Japanese "コ". Furthermore the "401" looks like it might be "イン", although I am a lot less confident on that part. Put that together and you have コイン which is Japanese for "coin", which could make at least some sense in the context of Mario. I have no idea what the rest of the plaque would say in that case, but to me the "コ" looks really convincing. Also, I don't know why people usually assume the text would be in English when it is a Japanese game. I hope some day the original texture is found so we can finally know for sure.
Oh god. I'm so relieved to hear that I'm not the only one thinking about it. I totally agree with コ, and as far as I'm concerned "L is" looks a lot like 上は. In context of a sentence, that might mean something about the top. However, if we're talking about 2401, Japanese grammar expects a verb at the end of a sentence. コイン being there seems very weird.
I might try looking into the mystery again with this approach. I don't know Japanese, but i invested enough of time in Japanese culture to recognise at least the simplest kanji and kana
The thing I love about NEScRETRO content is that I'll check uploads and be like, "Man, been a while, maybe they're done with CZcams" and then 3 days later drop a 7 hour video
CZcams must know how much of a sucker I am for longform content to fall asleep to. The effort that must have gone into this is ASTOUNDING. Thank you for the food!!
Thank you!!! I really hope you enjoy it!
Watching the video brought back a memory of a myth about the Pokemon Ditto. Something about that Ditto was made from an ink spill, something on the lines of that. Awesome video I loved it!
been having a rough couple of weeks and tonight awful, but i see you uploaded again so i can at least listen to something comfy. always glad to see your posts in my sub feed
I remember your OOT video from last year at this time, and I was planing on rewatching it, but now I can throw this in with it. 8 hours is crazy.
I bet you haven’t heard of this one, my friend told me about a secret stage in Mario 64, he told me about Gusty Gold Mine, an underground stage with light shining in through the walls, he told me that the boss of the course was Wario who you fought on a pile of gold after falls in a hole, you were supposed to dodge his chard and then throw a chunk of rock that fell down and ground pound him three times
This was genuinely the best iceberg video I have ever watch. It took at least a week to finish it and I enjoyed every second of it!
GODS GIFT TO THE WORLD: THE 7 HOUR LONG NESCRETRO VIDEO
I had a cursed Pokémon ruby version. No matter how strog and well prepared my team was, no one in my class was able to beat glacia on with my cartridge. Nothing could beat her. Even a full level 100 team of Pokémons wasn't able to defeat her last Pokémon. It was bizarre.
Been watching this on and off as a doze off to sleep at night now that i have wireless headphones, not only a topic i ADORE but a very nice and soothing narrator voice. Deff earned a sub lmao
Thank you so much! I always feel that my voice is kinda nasally, so I appreciate hearing that others enjoy it! It's very motivating!
I just watched a guy talk about random video game things for 7 and a half hours and loved every second of it.

Dude, your dedication to these projects is unbelievable. You’re my new background narrator; I go back to your iceberg videos again and again when I’m cleaning, cooking, or whatever, and it always feels like I’ve got a friend just taking about cook Internet stuff. I never get tired of them, and this one is going to be another solid repeat listen. Keep up the excellent work, and take all the time you need between uploads. I can’t imagine the time these must take, but they’re always a treat.
Holy shit, that was as comprehensive as an iceberg on the topic can get
This is the longest video I've ever seen in one sitting and I really enjoyed it! I was thinking of some other ones that didn't make it on the iceberg such as entity 303, Wizard101 ghost girl, cuthulu boss fight in terraria, sad Satan, sly 5, ssb4 gematsu leak, silent hill ambulance ending, wario abberition, Minecraft sky dimension, I'm sure I know of more but those are the ones I can think of on the top of my head. It would be interesting to see another video later on explaining video game urban legends that did not make the iceberg, I'd be interested in more
That would be amazing! I'll look into it!
You're my hero. I'm going on a very long trip, and here you are, uploading yet another huge video, an hour before my train departs. This video will certainly keep me entertained, thank you a lot
I was thinking uploading this video during this time of year would be perfect for those traveling, so I'm happy to hear you'll be using this video exactly for that!
One more thing, assuming that's Marisa in your pfp, there is a BUNCH of touhou music in this video lol
@@NEScRETRO you're absolutely correct, it is, in fact, none other than Marisa Kirisame. Gotta keep my ears peeled lol.

Unironically the most hype I've felt this entire year
5:31:10 The RETURN of MEOW!! Seriously , man , i love these long form console icebergs - 7.5 hours of editing like this is a seriously good job 👍
You’ve just made me realise that no GTA games have kids in them, which is something that totally makes sense but I never noticed before.
You should like, a fan Q&A or something like that! Love the icebergs, keep it up!
I've definitely considered it, I'm just not sure how I'd go about it! I really suck at speaking live, so I'd probably just do a community post where anyone can ask a question in the comments, I compile the questions and simply do a video answering them all. That would most likely be best
New nescreto video? Marios madness V2? Christmas? Best end of year ever
i found this video half awake and i put it on to fall asleep to, when i woke up to it still playing with one dead airpod i realized how long it was 😭😭😭 thank you for this long ass video 🙏🙏 getting my video gam trivia up in my sleep lmao
Haven’t had time to check out the video until now, time too fall asleep mid video and rewind back to where I left off
Youve no idea how happy i get when you upload
Something about the Michael Jackson composing Sonic 3's music that confirms it is that Yuji Naka made a tweet on his official account nonchalantly saying something in the lines of "Why did the team working on Sonic Origins didn't use the music composed by Michael Jackson on their new release?" In reference to the music in Sonic 3 changing for that release of the game, and implying the original was made by Michael
Vibing out to the entire thing for my whole shift at work lesgoooo
Watching this for a whole week
As an iceberg deepdive lover, I have to say this is one of the best ones, if not the best I have ever watched!!
That blue spheres gameplay is equally frustrating and impressive to watch
Same, it gives me crazy anxiety!
I don't know how or why I ended up on this video, but I spent the last four days watching it while playing. Godspeed, rando CZcamsr.
Here I am at the exact midpoint of the video. This has been a morning well spent, honestly.
I've been a big fan of your videos since I first discovered your SM64 one when the iceberg trend was at its peak, but honestly now it feels like you really own the format. No other channel comes close to the quality, energy and passion in your videos and your style really makes you stand out from the pack. Keep up the amazing content! I look forward to watching your future uploads :)
I can't wait to watch through all of this and enjoy it thoroughly. Icebergs are a lot less popular than they used to be but I'm glad you're still doing them NEScRETRO, I still adore the vibes of your Iceberg videos and this niche little genre of online video. Keep up the good work! 😊

Doug Ratman may also be on this list because of the Game Theory episode surrounding the companion cube.
Also, NieR Automata is the second game in the NieR series to my knowledge. Its just that NieR is an offshoot of Drakengard, similar to Persona and SMT.
Love your icebergs I have a long car ride ahead of me so I know what I’m watching during it lol
Hey NEScRETRO, first of all, great video, I really enjoyed watching it and I hope to see similar content in the future, keep them up!
I wanted to comment two things about the Danganronpa series section at 5:43:10 the Danganronpa game you mention is Danganronpa V3, and I would've better to refer it by that name because Danganronpa 3 is another piece of media in the series, an anime to be exact and a direct third part to the other games, while V3 is more like a separated story.
Also I didn't appreciate the gameplay and the late game gameplay you showed because it spoiled me some of the game! I'm still playing the game at the moment and a spoiler warning would've been preferable, as Danganronpa is a mistery game and showing some of the killings spoils more of the finding out part of the game, thank you very much in advance for reading my thoughts and I hope you are good!
I'm really sorry about the spoiler, I usually give games a 5 year window to feel the need to add a spoiler warning, but maybe I should bump it to 10. There are so many games out there that I still haven't played many from the ps3 era lol
Great video. Really digging all that Touhou music choice.
Listened to this while studying for my mock exams, and it was such great company! I might know more about Pokémon myths now than I do about logarithmic functions, but this was such a brilliantly narrated video I don’t mind at all (even if the exam is in about four hours lmao). I loved all the anecdotes. Keep it up, this was awesome!!
So happy the new video is finally here! I'd definitely say you're my favorite content creator so I always look forward to these.
49:20 your understanding is actually correct, though you didn't mention that arbitrary code execution was used specifically to make those inputs be read by the game as code

Don't think anyone will see this but has anyone else heard about fighting 03 in Kirby's Return to Dream Land? This is one I remember so well from rumors, but I haven't seen anyone else who remembers it.
4:46 *Neo Green Hill Zone* is actually the early name for *Aquatic Ruin Zone* so it is not a cut level itself, but there were actually more *Sonic The Hedgehog 2* levels that did not made the cut like *Rock World Zone* , *Ocean Wind Zone* , *Blue Ocean Zone* , *Madness Mountain Zone* , *Tropical Plant Zone* , *Olympus Zone* , *Emerald Isle Zone* , and *Sand Shower Zone/Winter Zone* which idk if there were meant to be 2 desert levels planned with *Dust Hill Zone* or that Dust Hill is just an early name for *Mystic Cave Zone*
I still haven't finished the video since I just have to take breaks every now and then, but I love these videos and I hope you'll never stop them.
Awesome video my guy!
I love this dude's videos cause it'll be like 5 minutes of info then 2 minutes of his own lore per fact on the iceberg 😭
The inclusion of older touhou tracks in your videos is always a delight
i could never make a video as long as this... amazing work!
Bro this is gonna go so hard during my 8 hour shift 😭 thanks 👌
One cool thing is that the quest you mentioned from Bloodborne is referenced in Honkai Star Rail.
A girl speaks you through a window wondering where her sister is and mentioning she's always with a bell. This spawns the area's Warp Trotter [which looks like a pig] and, when you defeat it, it drops the bell. You can bring the bell back to the girl and she realizes her sister must be dead, so she starts crying. If you try to talk to her again, it's implied she's now dead and left a music box there.
You can then go back to when you fought the Warp Trotter and find the sister, who is looking for the girl who "ran away". You can give her the music box, which confirms she truly was dead and lets her spirit go free to join her sister in the afterlife.
Oh that's a REALLY cool reference!!!
Alright.....the binge begins 😂
Fr though. I'm so glad you're still posting. Even with the updates, I was getting worried about you. I can't wait to dive into this beast and see what you've bestowed upon us.

There are so much interesting topics here, a lot that I've never even heard of. Thank you for making a really informative 7 hour iceberg video! Always looking for more of these. Great work!
YESSSS! ITS BEEN TOO LONG! MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
I have been using your videos as sleep aid for literally years. And like when I first discovered you I am playing Persona 5 while watching your videos. You are creating core memories. Thank you friend.
