I think you kinda underexaggerated the biggest problem of sonic 06: The game wasn't finished. No literally, it wasn't finished. Sega rushed it out the door and refused to delay it and eventually realized it couldn't run on the wii, so they took half the staff of 06 and moved them to a different game. Like there are major mechanics that just weren't programmed in, letting you do things like just fly over levels. Not only was it a bad game, it's quite possibly the most famous bad/unfinished game and it almost killed the sonic franchise. He became an industry laughingstock and still is to this day.

It's this one button mentality, while every other platformer, even at that time, used more than just one button to do stuff like attacking, jumping etc., which also results in less simplistic/boring level design due to the expanded moveset (a.k.a you can do more tricks with the character you're playing with while using said tricks and whatelse not). 3D Sonic is just too simplified in terms of control scheme and it's probably the main reason it struggled throughout the decades.

See, if The Quiet Man wanted to make people who can hear feel the same frustration as the deaf, they should've just had everyone using sign language, and then the second playthrough have the subtitles. It'd give anyone who knew sign language the ability to tell the story right away, inclusive to the deaf and those who are considerate to the deaf, and an exclusion to those who take hearing and speaking for granted, inverting the status quo,. The levels have to do with the rarity and lack of exposure of the games rather than popular concensus. I actually think some of the games of the lower tiers aren't as bad as those at the very top.
I played Superman64 as a kid back in the day, rented it from the local video store for the weekend. Those where the worst $5 bucks I've ever spent, I gave up the same night I rented it, and felt so horribly cheated. When even a fucking kid can say your game is garbage, _it is absolute garbage._ I'm so glad I didn't gave up on that store, because just the next weekend, they were selling some of them, and I bought what ranks as one of my top 5 vidya I ever had, _Mischief Makers._ And to think the guy running the joint sold it for just 10 bucks to me because "he didn't get it", kek.

I'm surprised no one mentions the game Journey of the Light, an indie game that came out on Steam back in 2015. It was a puzzle game where you play as a floating ball of light and you must light lamps scattered around eight large levels to beat the game. The issue is, there weren't eight levels, but just one. Players who bought the game couldn't get past the first level and when the game was datamined, players discovered the game consisted entirely of the first level.
When players accused the game's developer, Lord Kres, of scamming consumers, he explained that the game consisting of only one level was the result of a glitch caused by releasing a bug fix patch, and that the glitch didn't occur after he playtested the game with the patch installed. He had built up a small following as an up-and-coming indie developer after he showcased early builds of a game called Voxelized, which came out after Journey of the Light, funnily enough.

2 it actually got a "sequel" (though i forget the name) which was just the same game, but using cars and bikes instead of trucks, and that was slightly more playable
3 as implied by the first 2 fun facts, the game was originally going to be...well a full game with way more tracks, as well as the ability to ride cars and bikes

This is an interesting iceberg overall, but I feel it misses A LOT of games considered the worst of all time. For the fun of it, here's a list of all the worst games of all time that come to mind for me:
    - Plumber's Don't Wear Ties (3DO): A "FMV" game that only has FMV video at the beginning. Criticized for a severe lack of gameplay, lack of usage of the 3DO hardware, and a bad/annoying story.
    - Takeshi's Challenge (Famicom): A game made by famous Japanese jack of all trades Takeshi Kitano, it's a Famicom game where the protagonist... Honestly, I still don't understand the story, but you divorce your wife and find treasure at the end. It's insanely cryptic and frustrating by design, to the point where Takeshi himself taunts you at the end to just "chill, it's just a video game" or something along those lines.
    - Crazy Frog Racer (PS2): I don't know why this one's considered one of the worst games of all time tbh
    - Custer's Revenge (Atari 2600): An extremely offensive game where the objective is to... Procreate with a naked Indian woman. Need I say more?
    - Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric: (Wii U) A shallow tie-in game to the Sonic Boom cartoon, infamous in part for being extremely broken upon launch to the point where Knuckles had an infinite jump glitch to skip... So much of the game.
    - Desert Bus (Sega CD). A game where you drive a bus in the desert and it's a very realistic bus too. It takes eight hours to get a point, and you can't just hold the gas button down, because the bus goes to the right/left & can get stuck in the sand. However, the game was designed to be a criticism of people complaining about video game violence by magicians Penn & Teller
    - Day One: Garry's Incident (Steam): I don't remember the particulars of why this was awful, but it was very much awful. The late TotalBiscuit's review of the game also got copyright striked and taken on CZcams for a bit/awhile.
    - Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (NES): An adaptation of the book (which has nothing to do with the book), which is seen as extremely frustrating; made infamous by AVGN for reviewing it twice. Although, it's impressive artistically.
    - Friday the 13th (NES): A frustrating adaptation of the movie(s) with a horrible starting weapon, repetitive music & gameplay, horrible navigation, and more.
    - Bad Rats (Steam): A puzzle game that is both offensive and bad. I can name why in just one flaw: the puzzle physics are inconsistent, meaning a method can be done multiple times and have a different result almost every time. How do you even...?
    - The Town with No Name (Amiga CD32): A point-and-click game with graphics that look as though they were made in MS Paint, repetitive gameplay, and is just very... Bizarre, in both good and bad ways.
And there's a lot more: DARK for multiple systems, the Big Rigs sequel, Hong Kong 97', Shaq Fu, Drake of the 99 Dragons, Hotel Mario for the CD-I, Wally Bear and the No-Gang for the NES, Crazy Bus, etc..

Have aways been a PES person during the FIFA era, could actually dribble in PES instead of constantly losing the ball to opponents 5 miles away somehow, and scoring or defending goals is fair compared to the coin toss that is FIFA, where you point the joystick is where the ball or goalie goes. Wondered what happened to it. Since PS4 launch couldn't find it anywhere anymore...

I actually saw Anubis II in the stores when I was younger, and it lived rent free in my head since the idea sounded cool, but I heard nobody talk about it. I never considered I'd ever hear of it in this context.

The actual plot of The Quiet Man is *wild.* There's so much bizarre shit about ancient Gods, chosen one prophecies, and identical twins that you have literally no chance of figuring it out without subtitles. If the intention was to have you try and follow along based on body language, they wrote the story in a way that goes against that in every way possible. I suggest you look it up, cause it's so much crazier than you could possibly imagine
Aquaman: Battle for Atlantis and Superman: The Man of Steel belong together in a double feature listing because just like the CDI platformers, they are the same game. Somehow the staff transferring from Atari to TDK managed to bring over the entire source code and landed *another* contract with DC Comics, and what they made was a reskin of a game that was terrible to begin with. How these bandits got away with such a scam in broad daylight is beyond me. They were responsible for Dark Tomorrow too, but that game is at least different from the other two

It's not really unfair to compare Busby 3d to better platformers released at the same time, since the game is intended to be a mascot platformer series to compete directly against them.

Its actually interesting that most of these bad games received mixed reviews, and decades later received terrible reviews.
Reminds me Albuns like Nevermind and other bands that at the time, received mix reviews, but decades later received 5/5.
Its usually the initial reaction that matters(with exceptions, of course)...

Superman 64 got me in trouble for cure sing for the first time. I remember it came out around the start of a summer break when I was around 9 or 10 and being bummed out because I didn’t have an N64, but all my friends did. It was a big deal for em. I didn’t get a chance to play it till around a month later after hearing a few friends talk about how awesome it was. When we finally got to play it together it was the first time I ever used a naughty word. I told everyone that “the game is crap” and I got tattled on.
