Valencia is the city of Joaquin Sorolla y Bastida (born 1863), the master painter of light and luminescence-- equal to or greater than Rubens himself. Valencia has always been known for its unique and mystical form of sunlight.
For me, one of the most significant, transcendental experiences of my life was in the spring of 1971, entering into the outskirts of Valencia by train in the middle of orange blossom season. Between the light and the fragrance of the orange blossoms, it was like the Divine had just opened the gates of Heaven.
Even though I was from a beautiful coastal town in California, Laguna Beach, the experience entering Valencia contributed greatly to who I am today. Such amazing memories in Spain as a young student of classical guitar!
Poetic!!
Thanks for the tip. I used to live decades in Santa Barbara, CA, but now as an artist looking for a place in Europe with great light...! @antardayal
@@antardayal298 From one great place, meaning Santa Barbara, to another like Valencia, Spain. That sounds very good to me. Spain and France are great places for artists. My best friend from infancy, Pat Tobin, used to spend summers in Bandol, France. He would do Plein Air painting the entire time. The coastline from Greece to southern Spain and Portugal is worth investigating, if possible.
Please check in Internet who was the architec "Guastavino" and what buildings and technics he designed in NYC.
The water in Spain is 100% drinkable, although it may have a chlorine taste depending on the region due to the characteristics of the land, but you can safely drink tap water in Spain.
I drink wine. In vino veritas.
All these shootings, robberies and car jackings here in America, I need to come check out Spain🙏
I'll be heading to Valencia this summer to study Spanish. I am excited. Your videos are really informative and just love them! Really giving me the information I need before heading to Valencia!
Thank you 😊 what are you going to study?
@@ANTOANETTA You're welcome! Studying Spanish language.
@@aBieBi1 great, where u from?
I think you recorded the narration part at Avinguda del Regne de Valencia? I walked there too two weeks ago during my first visit to Valencia. Beautiful boulevard, as is Gran Via del Marques del Turia. Shame that Goya Gallery was closed on that precise day I visited there. Valencia is a charming city indeed: full of sunshine, history, beautiful old architecture, good food, relaxed people, excellent public transport, stunning beaches (Playa Malvarrosa), etc. I definitely will travel there again! Greetings from Finland!
Just got back from Spain. We visited four cities and Valencia was everyone’s (6 of us) favorite! I’m really enjoying your wonderful videos and sharing with my gang!
Where do you see the roads with less noise ?
I love that you used Dallas as the comparison photo! Dallas is in the second worst heat island in the country, and is predicted to soon become the fifth hottest city in the country after Phoenix. The pollution is terrible due to this and the car density. I am working with a non-profit to add more tree canopy throughout the entire region.
Perfecto! Muchas gracias!
@@joan9248 pfffffffffffffffffffffffffff ahí le has dado!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣
I loved this video. This with the railroad trucks loos really cool
Thanks! Yes it’s crazy how they will do that. It will definitely take time and €€€€
Wow Antoanetta! I am impressed by your Spanish! You did great buying radishes haha! Thank you for the video!
Tap water is drinkable, although the high concentration of minerals in the water doesn't taste good. As always a good videoclip.
Bye the way, you're making headway with your Spanish. Talking to locals is the best way to pick up words, etc.
Wow those fresh veggies look great!!
I can’t wait for Turia Gardens to extend to the beach! Good info
Me toooo
Amazing video. You are the best ambassador of Valencia!
Greatings!
Haha thanks 😊
Love the video and the city👍🏼
Thanks it is very nice city to live in
It's a beautiful park hope next year will be able to walk in one luke it in Malaga good job👍👍👍

Marvelous video! I’ll be there next March. Greetings from Puerto Rico.
Absolutely fabulous video- beautiful videography and great editing. I love your videos. Thank you!
Fantastic channel, I just discovered you. I moved to Valencia last year and totally love it here, too. Thank you for making these videos.
Buenas vibras ✨ 💜 ☮️
Very interesting I hope some day visit Valencia 😊
Nice
Wow ❤❤❤
Buen video.
I'm in!
Gracias Antoanetta! Great info and lots of factual comments as usual. I'm loving Valencia... hoping I'll be able to visit sometime in the near future. ❤
Love your videos ! Though, shocking about valencia being the greenest.. I always see on the weather app that the air there is not as good.
But it's amazing that they are making this change !!
Cada vez hablas mejor, felicidades.
Aww gracias 🙏🏻

I am curious if the amount of pesticides to maintain the garden will outweigh the benefits of it? I have been using water filtration since 1986 since I am allergic to chlorine. I am glad to see I can buy a good system that will work in Valencia and Spain. My husband and I enjoy your videos and find them very helpful. I am glad to see Valencia is making an effort to go green. The sad thing is plastics are not being recycled enough at this time. China used to buy a lot of them but quit doing so about three years ago. I was surprised the organic kiosk was using a plastic bag. When I was in Malaga four years ago we had to use canvas grocery bags. Here in Denver, Colorado we voted recently to charge .10 per plastic bag when shopping anywhere. Most people are now using cloth or thick plastic reusable bags. I hope Valencia does the same.
Thank you for watching my videos 😊 I am noticing here many people are recycling and not just plastic. They have containers for regular trash, plastic, paper, organic disposal and for glass. In regards to the grocery bags people here use their own wheeled bags or reusable and in some cases paid plastic or paper bags.
Orange trees in the city are not for human consumption so they do not apply pesticides. Water is 100% drinkible from the tap. Chlorine level is not over 0.5 ppm as the law requires. Tastes really bad, but it is drinkable.
Know the area well, Gran Via is a bit noisy, but nice. ✌
Very interesting! Do you know more about this burying of the train tracks? So, these are old train tracks that are no longer needed? How can there be so many tracks that are no longer needed? I guess they built newer tracks for more modern trains?
Wow what a forward thinking city! I want to go there! How is the air quality in Valencia?
Hey Antoanetta, I hope you're doing well. I was wondering if you could please provide me more information about the water filtration system you recently installed at your apartment.
I will get that to you asap

Can you just please post the link to the system? I found a store in Campanar that sells them them but I am interested to see the one you purchase. Otherwise I’ll just go purchase it.

I go to Valencia for the Feria de Fallas. More exactly, I go there for the fiesta brava. As for drinking, I am never without a well-filled bota de vino. Yo soy Sevillano.
thx for all the info .. can you do a video about food shopping rent transportation restaurant prices etc would help people like me who might move from US to Valencia,,
Antoanetta: "consciousness" is not the same as "conscience"...
It can be drinkable but the minerals overwork your kidneys. If you look at what’s happening with all faucets and pipes….same in your body.
@@ANTOANETTA it’s not the minerals but the heavy metals in it
You have to explore more, outside the city, if all this amazes you, the real magic is found in the towns (I do not despise the cities, but not everything is there)
Thanks to your videos I’ll be visiting next month. What is the name of the area you were walking through at 0:40 ?
Thanks. It’s between Gran Via and Russafa 😊 very pretty.
Thank you ❤️
Greetings; When are you going to La Albufera? Thank you.
Hi, I live in Valencia and would love the water filter information
Please contact me on my Instagram or info in my about section 😊 thanks
How do you compare this with Varna?
Varna is pretty nice.
Is it stil mandatory to wear masks on public transport in Valencia? I am coming now in June to the best city.
Just coming from there. Busy, dirty town, too many cars and people with broken streets run down buildings and not maintained facades. Graffity everywhere. It feels oppressing. Yes the Turia park is there but every big city has a park. I think you are impressed by there as you have not travelled sufficiently in Europe... They also expect Western EU prices for the above mentoned. Its nice to visit for a weekend but thats it🤷♀️
How hard or easy is it to relocate from the US to Spain?
Greek island ikaria has the longest living people 100 years old
It’s a blue zone
Help me get my visa. I LOVVVVE Spain but the Visa thing is killing me!
Awww i wish I can. Depends on your situation I am sure there is a way!
Yeah. It is not easy if you don't hold a European passport
i am going to barcelona next month, i come every year, maybe you can come there and we can talk in person ? or would you be ok with having a drink if i come to valencia perhaps ?
watch your wallet,...all the time 😉

Is not the unemployment rate about 12 percent?
That's a lot.

I thought Spain was suffering a massive drought. Valencia being affected. Water restrictions will be necessary. Don’t know how will that affect Valencia’s green project
@@joan9248 q buena noticia entonces!!
Are you from Bulgaria maybe?
Green capital? Many neighborhoods don’ t have any green areas at all. You only have to visit some European cities to realize how much greener and cleaner they are. I am Valenciana and I love my city but hearing it mentioned as a green city makes me laugh. By the way, tap water is perfectly drinkable, we drink it all the time.
I would love to live here but it saddens me the way Spain treats POC... must be nice to be able to live here and experience it the way you do
Whats a POC?

We lived in Spain for 3.5 years and now in live in Germany, but are from the US. While not perfect, Spain absoluetly has a lot of things going for it to make the life expectantcy so high. This ranges from everything from the food and lfiestyle to the city designs. It's phenomenal to hear about Valencia improving and making things more and more green, where as Madrid sometimes seems to be going in the opposite direction with Ayuso...
The life expectancy in Madrid is higher than in Valencia.
@@carloandreaguilar5916 I do not know the reasons, but Madrid has in fact the highest life expectancy of Europe (and the highest in Spain of course).
@@carloandreaguilar5916 ps: It is of course absolutely not true that "Other countries healthcare dont help unless its serious".
@@carloandreaguilar5916 you wrote "other countries", not "the Netherlands".
And I can tell you that the quality of public healthcare is certainly higher in Germany than in Spain, for instance.
Antoanetta very bad,
I have been drinking water from my land for 46 years and it will not be the one that tastes the best, nor is it water from the mountains, but I invite you to inform yourself well (which you normally do) and not say things that are not true at all.
And I haven't died yet, I'm still here.
I assure you that you would make me 10 or 15 years younger than I am.
As you say, we have one of the highest life expectancies in the world, I don't think this indicates that we have water that is undrinkable at all.
I add that only 99.5% of the tap water in Spain is considered 100% drinkable, it still seems little to you.
don't better me, equal me.
Its all a lot of bla bla bla as long as you dont explain us where all this water to make the city greener is going to come from. Certainly not from. the skies, snce the region is one of the dryiest in all of Europe! If you dont believe it, look at the climate-charts.
The water for the gardens is reusable and not to drink. Valencia also has two water treatment plants. The Spanish Levante is dry but they developed a lot of ways to reuse water . Valencia, Alicante, Murcia and Almería are the vegetable patch in Europe. Without water that will impossible. Also there are several desalination plants. You can find easy info about this in Google
@@alannadupont6772 Thanks for your reply. I basically knew about these Initiatives, but you should also mention them in your report, and most of all, in a realistisic way, not giving the overall impresion of a land of fairy-tales. For example, your use of the term "reusable water" is just a euphemism. Since the water in fact is just used a second time, and on top of it, only partially, because of evaporation and other limiting factors. - The cultivation of mostly vegetables vegetables in this area is another big issue, which I won't discuss here in detail, but it's widely recognised as an ecological nightmare, which will need to be stopped or at least drastically reduced sooner or later.
Barcelona is much better
much better than Kabul, Mogadiscio and Pyonyang. I agree
You are way too enamored with Spain. It’s not all rainbow and butterflies. Be honest for once.
