Great post, Antoanetta! I wanted you to post more property-related videos and you did. Although quite pricey, those were some great apartments. As a person who lives in an (overpriced) 1-bedroom apartment in Valencia, I would love to see another post about renting and buying smaller apartments, new and second-hand, even outside the city center, real soon. Keep up the good work, A.

A great idea. Most people thinking of relocating to Valencia are not looking for a New York style luxury experience there. Most are going to be digital nomads and retirees seeking more typical housing and want to live more like Valencianos than New Yorkers and are more likely interested in one or two bedroom units. Honestly you can find upscale luxury housing in all but a small handful of cities in the world less expensive than in New York.

If you are looking for second hand that is relatively close to the center is the neighborhood of En Corts. It is very close to Russafa but with lower prices. If you are looking for new housing of good quality but a little further away, there is a lot of construction in the Malilla neighborhood. That area will go up a lot in price because Valencia Basket is building a big stadium in the area. These are just a couple of examples. You can locate them with Google Maps or Google Earth among others.

There’s no real purpose in comparing NYC to Valencia in terms of housing. New York is horrendously overpriced but your salary would be 3-5x of what you’d make in Spain on average. Plus, you’re paying for access to opportunities, world-renowned entertainment, and everything else that comes in living in a mega city like New York. Also, people only pay those rent prices because buying within the city is often out of the question. Seems silly to pay this much in a place like Valencia.

YT vlogger Cash Jordan does daily vids on available apts in NYC. Jeez, they're all overpriced (which is why he regularly describes them as places where rent is divided among roommates), often old, very small &, most of all, normally not too visually, aesthetically appealing. Most balcony or window views don't look out over a charming town (eg, classic Valencia) but instead over a mainly drab 1930s-1970s-era concrete canyon. Moreover, NYC doesn't have exactly the best weather & also a non-stressful amount of crime & graffiti. Manhattan, however, is famous for being walkable. Although its subways are more 3rd world than the ones in equally or older cities like Paris or London are. But NYC is NYC. In spite of its nature & history for over 75-150 yrs, it has done, yep, damn well for itself. So different strokes for different folks, & an acquired taste (ie, the tagline: "I love NY!").

Really good points about the landlords treatment of foreigners especially for the non/lucrative visa. It's good to know that things are improving and its getting easier to get approved as a foreigner! It's still hit or miss in Madrid. It really depends on the comfort of the landlord or agency the owner has hired to manage the apartment.

Thank you Antoanetta for the video but why would you be comparing an astronomically overpriced New York with a beautiful city like Valencia.
Doing this justifies the astronomically overpriced apartments now in Valencia and I believe that's what these property owners are thinking..."compared to American cities we are 50% less here in Spain" Wow what a bargain.
These prices are insane. If this is what's happening in Valencia ie.outsiders coming in from other overpriced locales and thinking "this is half what I was paying in Los Angeles etc.."then pretty soon regular people will not be able to afford the beautiful city of Valencia.
