    I don't think Markstrom is the answer. I just think he's a bit too old for this group. Having said that I won't be mad if he ends up being the guy Stevey trades for. I think Ullmark is the #1 target. I just don't see a team taking Korpi making this whole move pretty complicated. Thanks Pierre!!

    You guys are thinking like the old regime still. We can't be making these knee jerk moves anymore and I think moving Korpi AND getting another goalie is too complicated of a move to pull off this summer. We're likely gonna have to eat 2 more years of Korpi's contract before anyone will touch it and buying him out is a terrible idea too. There are a lot of problems with this team, let's focus on ones we can solve this summer like getting a RD to play with Chabot and shoring up our bottom 6 with some hard-nosed vets.

    First of all, a BIG Brady sized congratulations to both of you!
    Second of all, on the goalie front, what do you guys think about maybe targeting Spencer Knight? It's a bit of a riskier move, but he was pretty good in the NHL in the years he did play. Former 1st round pick. And with the way Bobrovsky has played the past two years and his $10M salary, Stolarz, Reinhart, and Montour being UFA, Lundell RFA, and only 12 skaters signed with $20M to spare, freeing Knight's $4.5M might be worthwhile to them.
    In a small sample size, he was stellar in 4 AHL playoff games. In the regular season he had a strong GAA but medium SVP on a team that wasn't very good. He out goalied Magnus Hellberg and put up a record of 25-14-5 with 5SO, 2.41GAA, and .905 SVP for a 23 year old goalie in his first year back after his diagnosis and battle with OCD/Depression. Or is he too much of a risk, and too similar in his projection to Sogaard?
    Great show as always!

    No way!!! For a 35 year old goalie,,, personally I’d trade Chycrun only for another Right shot D or power forward. I’d pay my money for two big Right shot D’s and go with the two goalies again… keep Merilineen in the background just in case… if Korpi gets hot, he would be much easier to deal, and this team is still a couple of years away from really competing for a long playoff run. Sorry Ross but doesnt Greentree sound a bit like Halliday…. Congrats to Pilsy on his engagement and to Ross with the news of his wife’s pregnancy!!!

    Also I'm a huge fan of Hage. I really think he'll be gone by 25 much closer to late teens. He's a great play driver that I think would translate to the NHL very seamlessly. If we can get him at 25 I'd be ecstatic

    I was so, so utterly despondent with Korpi last year. BUT… I think we should give him/ forsy/ Soggy another year behind a decent D and a better all round team.

    Do not move any 1st rounders. If we can't get Markstrom, Saros or Ullmark for a trade around Chych then we should call Carolina about Andersen, Wild about Gus, Kraken about Daccord, Utah about Vejmelka etc who should be available for a 2nd-ish type of value.

    Flames wont get nearly that much for Markstrom but if Staios is prepared to offer something similar than you have to just go all in for Saros. Saros athletism could cover up a lot of mistakes this team makes defensively and I think hes by far the best fit based on his style of play.

    • @frankmacdougall938
      @frankmacdougall938 Před 15 dny +1

      Yeah but Saros is a rental. He has 1 year left at 5 million. How do you fit the 5 million in with Pinto, fixing the RD, and finding that veteran forward they want? Saw 2 different articles saying he hasn't started negotiating a contract yet because him and his agent are waiting for the Shesterkin contract to come in. Rumors are that Shesterkin is looking for 11 to 12.5 mil. Saros values himself at just below that. Maybe around 9.5 to 10 mil. No way Ottawa's cap next year fits that in. Unless you are trading away a couple of their 8 million dollar men in the same season. Saros is rumored to be staying now with the Preds.

    Sens traded for Debrincat on July 7th, paid Norris his 8 mil a week later, then Stutzle in September, his 8 mil.
    Stutzle in first year, scored 29 points in 53 games and followed first year with 58 points in 79 games and media is brainwashed into believing he was an $8 mill player;
    Tkachuk earned his 8 mil salary in his 4th year, after posting 45 points in 71 games, 44 points in 71 games, 36 points in 56 games;
    Norris earned his 8 mil salary, a week after the Debrincat trade, first year 0 points in 3 games, 35 points in 56 games, 55 points in 66 games;
    Chabot earned his 8 mil, 0 points in 1 game in his first year, 25 points in 63 games, 55 points in 70 games and then his point production drops off after getting his contract;

      Timmy, Brady, Sanderson are definitely a bargain with what they are paid. It’s a shame chabot gets hurt a lot but otherwise he’s worth what he’s paid. The only overpay I would say is Norris although if he is healthy and gets to shooting the puck like he can he’s worth it too. Now goaltending tandem is close to 9 mil, more then the cost of 5 - 8 mill players, plus 2 4.6 mil players. Giroux' 6.5 mil contract. Batherson's 4.975.

    I would do Chychrun, 7th OA & Joseph for Markstrom, 9th OA & Miromanov RD, the money is close & both sides get something they want. Chychrun becomes their top pair LD & they get closer to drafting Iginla if he falls to 7th which I suspect he will without them giving up another pick. Markstrom is 34 yrs old which is starting to get old in hockey.
    I would then draft Yakemchuk 9th OA & get that big, tough high scoring RD for Ott's near future. I would trade Korpisalo to NJ for Mercer RW. Ott ends up with a #1 goalie, an experienced big tough RD, a Rwer for the middle six & a future high scoring RD in the draft.
