  • Join me as I metal detect 1000 Step Beach in Laguna Beach, California. I find Gold and Silver rings, a bunch of crusty clad coins. I was also joined by Irene and Andrew who have just created their own channel " Detecting Together for Treasure".
    Irene and I treasure hunt using a Minelab Equinox 800 and Andrew uses a Minelab Excalibur II.
    I would like to thank the CKG Scoop company for providing me with such an awesome beach scoop. I was really missing Old Rusty and to have something almost identical is like having my old friend and gold magnet back.

    I would be thinking either blue topaz or sapphire for the stone in the white gold ring. Gorgeous!

      I confirmed that it is a Zircon stone as I found the exact one for sale online, though no definitive answer to what the SR means yet. Thank you! 👍

    I am not trying to tell the master how to target however I learned from the Gig master who uses the same coil we use if you use the tip to approach target then repeat again at 90 a degree angle you have it located I no longer pin point Dig On Jim !

    Your wife's new ring is a beauty. Very surprised you didn't have a silver dime at 16:40 when the dime flipped onto the quarter it sure sounded like a silver coin out of the two coins.

    • @funwithjim
      @funwithjim  Před 2 lety +1

      I was thinking the same, I had to double and triple check. actually the oldest coin was from the 1980's. Wife does like the ring, 😥

    10k st means solid 10 carat gold, and the SR is the makers mark

  • @joesmith-es1zy
    @joesmith-es1zy Před 2 lety +1

    Helzberg Jewelry often includes the initials of the jewelry collection it comes from. FD is another such mark which stands for Fascinating Diamond's, so your SR is the line it came from.

    How do you clean your coins? And does it work for pennies, as well?

    • @funwithjim
      @funwithjim  Před 2 lety +1

      I use a rock tumbler, with stainless steel jewelry cleaning media, with water mixed with lime away or clr. Yes it works on pennies but they must be done separately as the silver looking coins will look copper colored due to ionic bleaching. Also once you use the stainless steel cleaning media on pennies it can no longer be used with silver colored coins. So I clean all the quarters, dimes and nickels together. I have a tutorial in my Tutorial playlist on cleaning coins.

    Awesome hunt! The 10K ring appears to be a sapphire to me, so maybe SR is Sapphire Ring? Is that too simple?

    • @funwithjim
      @funwithjim  Před 2 lety

      Definitely not a sapphire, since it is a Helzberg Ring I found it online and confirmed it is natural Zircon. Still not sure what SR means but I noticed it a lot on many of the Helzberg rings.

    I notice that you dig targets twice but you have a lot of experience. I pull a scoop out then recheck the hole before I dump it

    • @funwithjim
      @funwithjim  Před 2 lety +1

      I toss the target out, then recover the target. Usually the faster way to recover a target, I also pull a scoop and verify it is out before I shake it or dump it. So everything is based on the current dig conditions and as someone with a lot of experience I do choose the fastest method of recovery as possible. However it doesn't mean it worked out that way, Lol! Thank you! 👍😎
