- WITH VOICE-OVER !
Guys so sorry for those of you who have already seen this once but from comments I received I felt I should add a voice-over.
One year ago today (last Saturday) I left home on my 1989 Yamaha YB100 2-stroke on a quest for me, (the fat man) to ride the tiny bike (the YB) from the Cotswolds, round the North Coast 500 (NC500) and back. The NC500 is a circuit around the north of Scotland and the Gaelic name for Scotland is "ALBA" !
In short I did it....the traditional Scottish weather was nowhere to be seen and I enjoyed 80F/25C+ temperatures for the entire trip which the YB carried out flawlessly!
What an amazing little bike.....
So today, while I am still running the YB in, I though I would go out for a ride to celebrate hence calling this "The Inaugural Alba Anniversary Run"! Sorry the day was dull, the ****ing GoPro let me down AGAIN and I messed up the sound....all in all something I am glad did NOT happen on the run to Scotfordshire !
More plans for the YB - Lands End and the South Coast "500", the Elan Valley in Wales and the Hardknott Pass, the latter in conjunction with The NACC Coast to Coast run in June 2025. Then I think it may be rested for special events!
@RobLittleuk
The YB what a bike 🤟 Sounds like plenty of adventures still await Brilliant
Yes sounding and feeling good but running in so taking it steady
The voiceover was a great improvement over the music, well done. Great to see you are looking after the old girl !! (YB) Sounds like you have some good trips planned.
well - I was persuaded to re-do it after I got a pretty shitty but fair comment !! Yes the YB is "feeling" good and I do have a few trips planned.
Those potholes are shocking, how the council can leave roads in such a state is shocking! It would only take a lapse in concentration for a serious accident 🤬
Shocking is probably an understatement.....there was one place when I simply could not avoid a huge pothole and I used a very bad word fortunately not audible !!
@@RobLittleukwas it similar to 'sugar' but with a different ending?
@@thomasegan1551 no it was similar to "duck" with a different beginning !!
Lovely soundtrack from the little YB, sounding very healthy now!
It does sound nice doesn't it Jon?
It was your NC500 on the YB that put me onto your channel Rob, that was a heroic undertaking ! Love the channel now, best wishes from The Lake District 👍🏻 oh I live in Whitehaven so looking forward to that adventure.
I will remember that Adrian - not sure I can do anything that will equal the Ireland and Scotland trips but we'll see. Oh and watch out for my postings....it wont be till june NEXT year but would love to meet up if I am in the area!
Im here for the YB 👍😁🇮🇪
We all are ! Ireland was the best !
nice to hear the little YB singing again , dont seem true it was a year ago lt took us around scotland and half of the rest of the uk great ride to watch { not so sure about certain someones backside } looking foward to new trips . never say sorry all videos are enjoyable to watch , the usual banter and scenary takes your mind off all the other crap going on around { election } thanks again for another ride around the lanes and to hear the little YB singing .
You are very welcome Trevor and just glad I am not in Scotland right now where its very cool and rainy! Glad you enjoy my videos - I don't try to take myself to seriously and what you see is "me"! I have just reached 4000 subscribers too....can't believe it! Thanks for your support Trevor.
Great stuff Rob - really good to see and hear the old girl on the road again. She sounds better than ever and I envy you doing the SW500 at some point. Always look forward to seeing your escapades even if the GoPro and Osmo continue to plot against you - take care ! 🙂
Thanks Mike !
Nice anniversary run avoiding the quarries on the road is a must as they are so deep, not been out on the new Honda 500 yet as my knee was playing up, but inaugural run scheduled for this weekend, All the Best Rob.
Oh I thought you were hioping to go out the other day?
Classic Rob little .. Who needs electric or kick starters when you have inclined driveway and a lot of momentum 😃😃
Its all to do with kinetic energy I believe Stefan !!
No worries, Rob. Nice to get a second look at the Hunter, too! 😉
Was there a Hunter Chris?
@@RobLittleuk Yes, Rob, a silver one; you can see the rear half of the fuselage and the fin at 1:14 in the video.
@@chrisweeks6973 Blimey Chris - no wonder I didn't spot it !
I have the same problem Rob which bike to ride, although I do like to keep some rotation going. This is the first time I have seen this video and all was fine for me. The YB sounds happy again but how it handles those pot holes I hate to guess. I will look forward to your further vlogs on any UK trips you will be doing, perhaps meet up and ride with you if/when you venture into the E. Midlands anytime. The trip to Normandy will be a real treat for all of you on your bikes, the scenery and historical places are everywhere. Yes, I do envy you. All the best 😊👍🏍NJ
Thanks Jogn would love to meet up sometime. I am careful with the potholes but sometimes you slip in.
Rob, I like all the ideas .. The muttering stories, the future trip .. It will be exiting summer for sure.
Ha ha I still have to be careful what I say though !!
If you go from Hartlepool to Alston via the Peak District, you got very lost. The coast-to-coast I think you mean is in the north Pennines, which is generally quiet even in summer. Unlike the south-west coast roads, which you'll need no reminding can be hellish in the holiday season. I've done the Hardknott and Wrynose passes on a Honda Cub and a Suzuki GP100 in the past, so eminently doable.
I figured it was doable....the coast to coast via Alston is a run the NACC do every year.
Had to be the RB!
the Y B. !!! 😊
I believe that little bike will be fine.
By the way, whose coat of arms is it over your left shoulder in the house? There are no cows on my "Little" one.
Ha ha the Coat of Arms.....drawn by my Great Aunt for my grandmother, her sister! She was a Willing ne Stott - two Jersey Cows standing on the map of the island, dont ask about the toilet, the purse, the bottle of beer, the trousers and the other bits and pieces - it was hilarious to the family at the time but now lost in the present day DOn !
@@RobLittleuk Truly a family heirloom! 🙂
Would you be able to tell me where those beautiful flowers are towards the end of the video please? I take part in a Facebook photo challenge on my bike and need to take a photo of my bike with seasonal flowers - they’d be perfect 😀
Nikki assuming you live near Tetbury it’s the cross roads in Long Newnton Lane where the lane from Ashley meets Lark Hill.

Of course there are those other nice flowers in Long Newnton but expect you know about them?
@@RobLittleuk thank you very much. I live near Salisbury but worked in Tetbury many years ago so know the area and it makes a lovely ride for me. Thanks again
@@nikkij1618 Wow are we talking push bike or motor bike?
@@RobLittleuk motorbike I definitely don’t do bikes without engines 😀
I'll do the sw660 with you
Well my lord that could be good - what would you ride?
@@RobLittleuk I dont have a wee bike at the moment, I'd need to make room in the stable and the good lady won't let me sell any. I'd probably take the 1000sx... It's on my list of things to do, I have plotted the route and stops.
@@MrOkiparker Ahh my Lord but I would be concerned your 1000cc naughty bike may have issues keeping pace with my 100cc oil burner 😅
