    You need to make the enemies to be able to block... NONE of them are blocking when you are fighting them in the game...

    perhaps instead of banish you use "scatter" which displaces the target to another location like 10-20 ft away
    i would recommend it making them turn into a mist or light and actually travelling to the new spot as if walking then turning back to prevent stuck in wall bugs
    or a fear effect making them flee could do the same job
    which then touches on some of the most fun magic in videogames: elder scrolls style illusion spells
    so spells that calm foes or scare them off, or make them attack anything nearby
    an illusory doubleganger spell could also be used like this letting the player make illusions of themselves to draw aggro, or loot boxes that attract non aggroed enemies into trying to open them, or a big monster to scare less stalwart ones off
    a spell that mixes the self illusion with dodge leaving the fake you behind
    drop a huge mist cloud that blinds everyone that you then couple with a life detection spell to become the blade in the mist
    maybe some utility spells that let you transmute goods and teleport places [perhaps a short distance one for mid combat or exploration jumps]
    conjure an oil slick that you can then light on fire once everyone's slipped on it
    once we get into higher magic you now have options like permanently enthralling a creature into your service
    inflicting a violent mental projection onto a creature that terrifies it and damages it so that creature just flails and runs around fighting a foe only it can see but cannot beat
    basically im saying look into games like dark messiah, elderscrolls morrowind-skyrim, dishonored, and dungeons and dragons from which to steal magic
    far too many magic systems are just colorful damage blobs as opposed to weird effects and utilities that can complement the damage blobs or open up some super fun spell blade options
    i even have the following idea for how to handle transmutation magics:
    you get a spell called alkahest or something that when cast on a creature makes it's body start to grow crystals and take a bit of damage. if the creature dies the crystals overtake it's body and it turns into a pile of this crystal that you can loot for said creature's nonbiological drops like weapons and armor but also some of a resource called "alchemical reagent" you can craft an amount this resource with any item to make a copy of that item.
    bonus points if there is a way to break down other biological materials like food and blood clots into alchemical reagent
    perhaps some potions and alchemical weapons also use this resource

    You could have summons reserve a % of your total mana. Then they could scale based on spell damage and the amount of mana they reserved. Maybe you could control how much they reserve based on how long you charge.

    you guys made alot of progress with the game , cant wait to see the end product , i really want to play a dark fantasy rpg with non linear story , good progression system , rewarding exploration
    just make sure the loot is fun and useful , in games like hogwarts legacy finding new loot was useless because enemies were already too weak and i could beat the game with the equipment that i had

    The game is awesome, can't wait to see the full game. So the full release is slated for March 30th, but it's now April and it seems to be in early access still and I haven't received any updates. And I also can't find any information online so is the full release being delayed or what?
