I'm running my first Ultra 50km this weekend. Last year I had a double heart bypass. It's taken a year of rehab and training. I am loving it. My training runs have been up to 45km with many thousands of metres of elevation. Good luck everyone. Never give up.
That's amazing! How did it go?
instablaster...
Hey HickoryWind how'd it go ??
@@rakadoni8403 Hey. Thanks. The weekend was hit by the mother of all storms and the race was basically a mudfest, in driving rain and fog. Apart from that it was amazing. 6hrs 20 minutes. Did the same race in May this year and again hit by exactly the same conditions after weeks of training on dry trails and managed 6 hours. Spent too long faffing about at the aid stations. Have since run from Winchester to Winchester via Rochester, Canterbury, Dover, Eastbourne a loop in total of 550km (in 20 stages) and solo. Getting ready for this week's marathons!
@@TheManOnTheRail no wonder you name is hickorywind, you run through towns like the wind
I love the old "Never again... never again... Finish race... When's the next one?". Long runs are soooo addictive. Well done completing your 50km. Great video showing the highs, and lows :-)
Love how you both support each other! It is so humbling ; reminds me of the beauty left in the world. Keep striving and doing great things.
Thanks Jeremy 😊
Two weeks ago I ran 80 km. ultra trail marathon "Kernave Trail". Remembering this video helped me keep going. :) Greetings from Lithuania!
That was awesome. I love watching people experience their first Ultra Distance run, it takes me back to mine every time. The highs and lows, the exhaustion BUT then not long after.........what run will I sign up for next. Fantastic!
Thanks for your nice comment, yeah was super cool beeing there watching and documenting Elin going through these emotions. Haha yeah, she inspired me as well think I have to try this crazy thing out :D
@@goranwinblad, it's simply awesome. Watching from Bangladesh 🇧🇩
What I like about this (and other videos about ultra runners), is the support they have from their partners! Well done Elin. I liked how human you were about it too :)
Thanks, glad you like the video 😊
'you remember how tired you were' - 'shakes head'. Brilliant and inspirational.
Yes to running in nature. There is nothing like it!
Amazing accomplishment, great job! (And nice cinematography)
Yeah running in nature is the best! Thanks, and yeah Elin did great super proud of her!
Good work, I completed my first 50k this Sept 2019. It’s such a rush to find out what you can really do. Biggest lessons I learned during my races this year was to stay in my HR zones for the first half and save my legs for the 2nd half.. And make sure the hydration and foods are built up the whole week before the race. Congrats!!
Yeah Elin did an amazing effort! Ok thats cool congrats to completing your first Ultra as well! And thanks for the tips will maybe try Ultra my self 2020 :)
Thanks for the tips, so reduce the mental hurdles early and save them for the last half
She's great and very relatable! I didn't have the guts to sign up for a ultra marathon yet, but I'm currently training for my second marathon. It's on my bucket list for next year, really looking forward to it. 🤞🏻
Yeah I agree! Ok cool good luck with your training 😀
Well done, Elin. Goran, loved this story, which was amazingly well-told and filmed! Thank you.
Thanks for you're nice comment, glad you liked it 😊
Congratulations!!! That was awesome to see the ups, downs and specially the success. Not to mention the willingness to sign up for another one. Amazing!
Glad you liked it Carlos, will tell congrats to Elin from you 😊
Thank you for this inspirational video with amazing nature scenery. Well done, Elin! You looked super strong throughout your highs and lows. There is nothing else like running an ultra and once you finish one😀
Thanks glad tou liked the video! Yeah she did great 😊 yeah I can imagine will have to try it my self!
Beautiful cinematography! Thank you for sharing this journey, very inspiring!!
Thank you Lea, glad you liked the film! I also got inspired by Elins performance and will power 😊
Yes, wonderful film! And congratulations to Elin. She finished strong and powered through the low points well-and her camera work and comments were also well done. It's fun to see and hear about others' journeys through their first ultramarathon. One is never enough!
Thanks Chris glad tou liked the film. Yeah she did amazing really proud of her 😊
Great job!!!! You are a true inspiration. I just found my love for running and will be running my first 1/2 marathon in a couple months.

Pure art! Nature, lights, camera and very inspiring emotions. Thank you very much for sharing this with us!
This is pretty cool. I remembered when I first started my ultra and had the same experience. After a few races you will learn and gradually go longer and longer. Good luck!
I loved this film -- it shows both the beauty and the struggle of ultrarunning in a realistic yet humorous way. What a beautiful gift for your fiancee! I hope to see more of your documentaries in the future.
Thanks Anne super glad you liked it, yes will try to produce more stuff for this channel in the future :)
I was violently attacked 18 years ago, a large man jumped on my knee bending it backwards as i lay on the ground - i can never run again ever. I want to so bad i start crying at home, but im lucky - some cant walk so im grateful.
Im out for a 3 hour walk! Amazing channel.
Kvalitén är sjukt bra, värd miljoner subs, ha d bäst!

☺️
Perfectly sums up the experience of running an ultra, congrats on the finish! :-)
Glad you liked the film! Will tell her congrats from you 😊
Fantastic, my first ultra will be 89km long, Comrades 2020. Hope I don’t die, but I’m willing to

Lupus 225 I know this is an older comment, but I’ve been looking for some nice Ultras in Germany, which one have you signed up for?
@@louie.lenard5795 Hey there, I ran this one www.heide-ultra-trail.de/ it's sort of a private event and you have to apply by sending a nice email. There's no date yet for 2021, let me know if you need help with translation. Are you on Strava?
Loved the last bit :) Running is fun, thank you for the video, Göran!

Thanks! Ok I wish you the best of luck with that!
I am on roughly
The same schedule and plan as you, and judging by your name ALSO plant based
@@stephaniewaskoenig1387 Woo! Good luck on your Marathon day, crush it! Plant based is the way to go 🌱 🙌😊
Great video. Well done to Elin. I'm new to Ultra running and my first 50km was similar. A lot of temporary pain and emotion. But the reward and memories will last forever.
Great video and congrats. I did my first 50km in 2018 and recently a 42km trail race. It is Great to hear your reasons to do these amazing runs in nature. As Conrad Anket says “enlightenment isn’t found with a full stomach, or on a soft pillow”. Peace to both of you!
Thanks for your nice comment and yeah that's a great quote, so true!
Great video. Impressive effort by Elin. Landscape looks beautiful and I loved the end. :-)
Thanks glad you liked it, yeah she did an amazing job! Haha yeah seems like she didn't got enough :D
Thanks for showing the beauty of ultra running
I had the same story. I ran a 21k on street, thought about a marathon, but hit the trails more often to enjoy the time and outdoors. I didn't care about time, just views and having fun. Skipping down technical trails. It was the first time i had fun running 21k and didn't realize i ran that much. I ran my first 50k without a race. Just trails having fun, topping up water in little streams. I had so much fun that day, just running.
Thinking about finaly joining some race with support stations. I think it will be a nice experience to run with people.
Cool to hear your story Jan! Good luck with your running in the future 😊
awesome job!! congrats to you Ultra Runner!!!!
Congratulations to this beautiful participant # 258, and of course you both are great thank you for sharing your dreams, the dreams that you make come true.

What a great little movie! Glad I found it! 👍🏻
Awesome video!! You edited it very well. As a trail runner myself, I could definitely understand her emotions. I have yet to reach ultra trail status though.
Thank you for documenting her experience.

Great video. Well done.
Thanks!
I loved it how she jumped over the finish line!
That's my favourite part as well 😁
Well done Elin! Really can relate to how you were in your video. I ran my first 50km in Taupo in this past October 2019 (3 weeks ago) and it was an epic day out!
Cool congrats on your first ultra!
A great video and an inspirational run from Elin 👏 I've done a trail half-marathon and I'm so tempted by a 50k but worried about the amount of training involved! The video's got me thinking again ......🏃♂️!
Thanks, glad you liked the video! You should go for it! I'm thinking of doing a 50k myself as well :)
A fantastic account of a great achievement. I like that you have kept it so real. I'm 54 years old and have run 5km to 12km fairly regular for over 10 years. People around me are doing longer distances so back in August I entered a 10 mile road race which took place October 10th and thats how long I trained for it. After 8 miles it was so so hard I can't begin to understand what it takes to do an ultra. Since then I ran 11.6 miles 1 week later with 1 energy gel. Then Yesterday with 2 energy gels I did a half marathon on my own. Again, the pain, the mental torture.......I don't think I could have got to 17 miles. Maybe 15? I really don't even think 26.2 miles is on the cards. Well done!!
Cool to hear your story of pushing your boundaries, if you keep increasing the training load you will for sure be able to run further and further. Good luck with your training! 😊
Amazing shooting.. Beautifull picture and congratz with the result of your first ultra 💪🙌
Thanks, glad you liked the film 😊
Awesome video. I’m training for a marathon in March 2020, not only do I know I have it in the bag I have already started looking for ultra trails later in the year. Super inspired thank you
Thanks! Super glad you liked the video and got inspired! Ok cool good luck with your upcoming training and races! 😊

How did it go Alfred?
@@camrun3937 Unfortunately, I did not finish. I was stopped at the aid station at 40 km because I did not make the cut-off time to get there.
What a beautifull video. Contrats to Elin and sure that she will keep on doing ultras and pushing herself far as possible. Also a beautifull testimonial of love 😉
Thanks Jonathan very glad you liked it, will tell congrats to Elin from you :)
She sounds so wise in the interview before the start. The places are astounding, thanks for sharing. Then, I had to really laugh at the cell coverage issue. Not something many can understand in densely populated countries but just a couple of weeks back, I was driving out for a hike with my daughters (in Canada). At some point the eldest took her phone to look at the site and the youngest went: good look with that, we've lost cell coverage some time ago. Aren't we all glad for those cell-free GPS systems :-)
Beautiful film and what a supportive fiancé :)
Thanks 😊
Awesome! and very inspiring! want to run my first 50K in Autumn. Thanks for that video
Thanks, glad you got inspired! Good luck in your first ultra!
