Leiðin okkar allra - Song Lyrics and English Translation:
I'm going to hold out
Ég ætla mér, út að halda
Fate causes it
Örlögin valda því
I have many people to pay
Mörgum á ég, greiða að gjalda
There is an old story and a new one
Það er gömul saga og ný
Still only God knows where my path leads
Enn Guð einn veit, hvert leið mín liggur
Life is so complicated
Lífið svo flókið er
Often I am, in the heart of a spine
Oft ég er, í hjarta hryggur
But I still work hard
En ég harka samt af mér
One little hug, dear mom
Eitt lítið knús, elsku mamma
Before I go
Áður en ég fer
Now I have come to say goodbye
Nú er ég kominn til að kveðja
I will never come here again
Ég kem aldrei framar hér
Is the moonlight, beautifies the mountains
Er mánaljósið, fegrar fjöllin
I follow my path
Ég feta veginn minn
The door opens the palace of dreams
Dyrnar opnar draumahöllin
And pulls me in there
Og dregur mig þar inn
I thank you send, send everyone
Ég þakkir sendi, sendi öllum
This is my greeting
Þetta er kveðja mín
I will walk on this road
Ég mun ganga á þessum vegi
Until the day of life fades away
Uns lífsins dagur dvín
I will walk on this road
Ég mun ganga á þessum vegi
Until the day of life fades away
Uns lífsins dagur dvín
This is epic Rich! Feel like I’m there cycling alongside you, but from the comfort of a couch. An extreme version of NZ hey! Appreciate the skill in camera work that makes us feel like you have a film crew alongside you - this is so you! 100% impressed, but 100% unsurprised! Love it!
Thanks Mate! You were there with me of course. Cycling in the Miramar winds was great preparation all those years ago. Come join me on the next one!

Thanks from New Zealand 🇳🇿
Thanks for sharing - how warm did it feel next to the volcano?
Man what an adventure way out of my league! What kind of bike do you have and any idea on your total weight carried? Looks like it does not have any shocks - steel frame?
Thanks Mark. Bike is a Surly ECR. They don’t make them anymore but yes it’s a steel frame with 29+ tyres (which absorb some of the impact and roll over anything). I never weighed my gear but I travelled as light as I safely could. 36 meals of dehydrated food weighed the most. Maybe 15kg of gear on the bike.
Do you think that most of the route is passable on gravel with 50mm tires?
Yep
@@richardsideyvery nice, What was the biggest difficulty for you - the route, logistics, packing in limited space in bags? For example ?
What camera gear and editing software looks great
Mostly shot on the trusty iPhone
what on earth did you eat this whole trip? the places you went looked like there are no food stops; if you took food how much and what
I carried 36 dehydrated meals and a few coffee sachets, nothing else. Half my meals were stored on the front forks, the rest were in a small backpack. The backpack was empty after five days.
