First year of rad residency---study your *ss off. I did and the next three years were a breeze. It's a shame residents don't take call any more that first year, I found the fear of call a huge motivator to hit the books hard early. Think of it as an investment, the sooner you 'save' the more time you have for the 'principal' to grow. Good luck and enjoy the journey! I'm 15 years out of training and still love it, even the grind.

Same experience, I got my first call on Christmas Eve 6 weeks after integrating radiology training ! I shadowed other residents evry day before my first night on call . Now I am 12 year out of training and still love radiology.

I'm a radiology resident in Germany. This specialty is nice. Tried internal medicine, almost became a surgeon but I still chose radiology. My first choice from the get go, should have listened to my gut feeling in the beginning.
Good luck to you all !

@@oxladehampsterm5464 1. it will get tough every now and then especially during a nightshift when you're alone but you can always ask your superior. Don't worry about disturbing them- it's important you're not wrong with your diagnosis.
      2. Try and do as many practical interventions as possible
      3. You'll be great Don't worry 😉

I’m thinking about applying to radiology here in the UK but still nervous about the decision as I feel I know hardly anything in this field but your advice here was really helpful, calmed my nerves a bit and makes me more confident in going through with it so thank you 😊
