Very opportune video for all the newly minted R1s. Certainly found it insightful. Thanks, Yasha!

Hello Yasha, I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. I can relate to many things you're saying. Thank you for being real. I need to study for the core exam and I was having a panic moment, realizing how much I need to study...I watched all your Core Exam tips videos and they are super useful!

Interesting. I did the opposite, hit the books super hard first year and then it compounded. I would study a couple hours a night, focusing on whatever rotation I was on, or about to me on. Doing that, I kind of cruised through the last three years tbh. Back then (2004-2007) we had to take call however after six months. The 'fear' of call was a great motivator (can't miss and ectopic, can't miss a PE etc etc). And we weren't overread by anyone, attendings or senior residents. Personally think that's a big loss...you need to develop cohones, the sooner the better.

i'm an R1 and i agree the most difficult thing is to find a way to study.. in my country the big goal for a R 1 is to master emergencies and to handle a 24h shift alone(knowing how to discuss requests(of CT , sonography) , the indications etc.) . So please can you give me some resources to improve my knowledge in emergencies.

Here too! The best are Emergency Radiology: The Requisites or Harris and Harris - The Radiology of Emergency Medicine. I used both first year!

Would you be willing to share a segment of your notes. I’m curious about how to structure notes

Did you study radiology in intern year?

No I did not. I *tried* and found it very difficult. I think if you are going to review anything, you should review anatomy. The rest is complicated and requires the right context to understand!

I wouldn't. Just get through the year. Probably would be really hard to retain anything that year since you're not really implementing it. I guess if you have a kush prelim and do rads for a couple months at the end, it would make sense to do it then.
