This game is so close to gaining mainstream appeal. The gameplay is tight and intuitive. It’s pretty accessible as it doesn’t require any extra hardware outside of the HMD. I think adding in a cloud system would be one thing that would revolutionize the game. Awesome video btw.

@@Rin_Nya762 Official, Baha's been tweaking it and the other stuff for the new update for a few weeks now on the beta branch. Switch to it in your Steam settings and take a look. The clouds/weather and time of day stuff that he's added really improve things a lot.
Yeah I know, hopefully someday. DCS does an alright job of stereoscopic VR cloud. And, as much as I hate to say it, War Thunder in VR does some good clouds and haze, but you hardly ever come across clouds in the Sim Battles.

While it looks great and it worked fine, on newer versions it fucked up alot of stuff, most replacements use alot of GPU (bad for VR), and the nice ones don't support a shifting origin point. Sadly, the reasons are valid and seeing this video makes me sad because i wish i could also have overcloud on my project.

Color me upset when I spend a huge coin to buy a 4090 and the game looks worse than ever because features were removed and not replaced due to them being GPU intensive. VTOL VR is an excellent game - perhaps struggles to shake off the "cartoony" label from those that don't know. The dev has done an amazing job and, agree, weather would take this to a whole new level.
Honestly I think it even goes too far into the fidelity sometimes, if I wanted DCS I'd play DCS, not potato graphic DCS (VTOL VR). I started with the game for the AV42, picking up and dropping troops, spamming ground targets with cannon fire and the AH94 was just an amazing DLC to extend that. Now the game has become PVP air-quake, like that new DLC aircraft... just more air-quake. Still, I'll probably buy it though, I still love the game.
@@SLGY Not really overkill, if you're going to get VR, a used Quest 2 is entry level.but can still play other PCVR or games on Meta Store without issue and is still getting support original Quest.
Yeah for Quests you're right, but I started playing this on a Rift CV2 back in the day and it seemed okay too. Though going back and experiencing the Rift screen door effect again would probably make my eyes bleed now
Nice landing. Out of curiosity where does the tower "check wheels" come from? Did you add response that or get it from somewhere in the real world. Im a heavy driver, haven't encountered that yet
It's a RAAF thing for all ops, even on civvi tower freqs if there's a RAAF jet the civvi controller will/should do the challenge and response (or, if fitted, the aircraft will press their gear tone button which will only transmit the tone on the comm frequency if the gear is down). Just another measure used to prevent gear up landings.
I do two view outputs, one with the camcorder and then Oculus Mirror for first person view, and just record both simultaneously in OBS. Like this video czcams.com/video/FbbxOvauVEM/video.html

yeah after a bit of redesigning to implement a spring mech, separated the arms, raising the lettering on the base, then printed it. Drilled out then filled back of the head with solid resin to balance it. Then glued, putty, sanded, base coat, air brush, detailed, weathered effects, then laquered.. took ages 😓
From memory I recorded two views at once (S-CAM with 12 sec cycle and Oculus Mirror) then did the approach a couple of times and the rest is all in the editing 👌
Not playing this game but I heard the latest plane added was a 2 seat training jet, and a lot of people were hyped to fly with their friend. So I assume it comes with at least some sort of multiplayer game.

Yep, it's only one dev working on the game so it's a struggle to keep it maintained let alone updating its cosmetics - but still ya gotta call a spade a spade, it's PS2 graphics and had an outdated look even when it launched. 🤷♂️

Quest 2 works fine too, it's more about your PC specs, which don't need to be insane. Game is very well optimized!

You can speak with tower via microphone, you just need to enable "Windows Speech Recognition" and then it'll work.

Yeh Neo's right, the version is too old (pre DLC too) and also Steam won't even let it connect for old workshop stuff

Nah it's not a mod, it is a feature of an old version of the game. It hasn't been included in the game versions for a long time now.
