Terrific! Very clear, and settles this once and for all. I think there's something that might be happening to some people, that almost happened to me! When you click on a link, maybe even the one from your video I saw today about booming a microphone, the link takes you to an item on Amazon... But when you follow the link, in my case the item in Amazon by Cable Creations is a TRRS cable, and NOT a TRS cable! I had to go and look again -- which is how I came to this "settled once and for all" video. I had to try repeatedly in Amazon before it took me to a TRS and not a TRRS. Once I took out "Cable Creations," I was able to find a 10' Hosa TRS cable that will fit my needs.

Does the Rode mic with the TRRS cable put out balanced 1 channel, or unbalanced 1- or 2 channel audio? Those TRS/TRRS cables make me concerned about picking up EMI over longer distances.

My specific scenario: GoPro Hero 9 w/ Media Mod. Got Chinese knock-off (Ruizu) brand wireless mic kit w one receiver and two transmitters. Kit came w/ TRS/TRS, TRS/TRRS, and TRRS/TRRS 3.5mm cables. If I want to run both wireless transmitters at once (i.e., my son and I riding e-skateboards together) and want optimal audio for videos recorded on Hero 9, which cable should I use to connect wireless mic receiver to GoPro Media Mod 3.5mm input? TRS/TRS seems to work, but maybe there's a better option given the multiple transmitter/stereo or whatever. THANK YOU!

I accidentally got a TRS (both end) extension cable, spent an hour to figure out why the mic wasn't work on the Zoom app. I Google TRRS and find out the difference between the two. You can see the cable/plug has either three or four bands representing TRS or TRRS. Four bands have the ability to carry Mic, left and right speaker channels plus a ground. TRS three bands can carry two signal which is usually just two output (speakers) or one Mic input.
