      steve whittall that is complicated. lots of filipinos come to canada to work as nannies. they were being abused by their employers. had to live in the home of the employer, treated differently under labor laws. alot of time they were being mistreated. when it became known about the abuse the canadian government was thinking of stopping it. but the nannies wanted to stay. they worked on improving the conditions for them. now they can live outside the home of the employer.

      Joseph Buban I agree. And the gap between the rich and the poor is worse than ever. Alot are programmed to think we all live in meritocracies when we dont. A concentrated minority own far too much of the wealth and the majority on the planet are left to fight over pittamce.

    Wow, this is the first video of Mark & Cesar’s that the children are taking care of their elderly mom despite the hardship. And not leaving them and fending for themselves in their most vulnerable years, per example the elderly blind lady Mark featured a while back who lives alone and relies on her neighbors to feed her. This is a great family, all generations living and taking care of each other. Bless them.

      angelo garcia i am working out your number in my mind. 100 dollars american a month? minimum wage in phillipines is about 200 dollars a month but many earn 40 dollars a month. why then are so many poor people making so many babies? i was raised in a poor family but in a rich country. my dad was killed by a drunk driver when i was six years old. my mother struggled to feed us. so she made sure to educate me to not make babies if i couldnt feed them. she would not raise my children and she was right.

      @keahithefieryone8513 Před 4 lety

      Free isn't as free as you think, that funds have to come from somewhere, that's why countries with "free" healthcare pays 15.00 a liter for petrol, 10.00 for a pack of cigarettes AND you still have to get privatized Healthcare, its all about re distributing the funds and besides, you are "Capped out" every year- so once you go over, its all out of pocket, my friend is from Canada and that is her major complaint, she says its "Free" but it should say "Free BUT restriction apply"

    • @TC-fs9ps
      @TC-fs9ps Před 4 lety

      @@keahithefieryone8513 obviously we have to pay taxes to pay for it, the money to pay for it has to come from somewhere. In saying that though if you get sick and you don't have health insurance you can get it done through the public hospital. I'd rather pay taxes for petrol etc than have to face a huge bill or worse yet not be able to get healthcare at all.

      As a Filipino who happens to understand a little bit of the dialect in addition to Tagalog, the subtitles are sub-par. A lot of the contextual meaning is lost.
      What the people say are also sometimes cherry-picked for dramatic effect.
      Yes, these people live hard lives, but putting in complete and accurate subtitles does not detract but rather enhances the humanity of the person and engages the empathy of the viewer.

    Hey guys...firstly let me take a moment to appreciate the good work you guys always do to help the poor. I also wanna share some criticism as well...whenever you visit an extremely poor family with children suffering with hunger...first please feed them something and then continue with your questions...my feedback is not related to this specific video but almost all the ones I've watched ..its the same. Sorry I have no right to criticise but just felt thats what you guys should be doing.

    I would love to see you as an educator. I wish there was something I could do to help with this. Education is the only way to help your people out of poverty. Then your revolution would begin. The government loves to see these people in poverty in order to manipulate their lives and make them think there is no way out. Please show them....Much love from across the pond..

    Potatoes can be stored for long period of time, along with sardines just add few kilos of potatoes they can mix sardines with potato and make wonderful curry everyday, they can make curry out of eggplant and potato too. I see they have lots of areas where they can plant, provide them saplings or seeds it will be more sustainable. Rather than buying so much coffee give them extra sack of rice.
    Hope that helps.

    The diet of eggplant and rice seems to be the key to lola's longevity and the family's health in general. Lola at 88 looks great and is generally active. I suggest that you gift them veggie seeds so they can surround themselves with more veggies for their daily sustenance. The vegetables don't need big space to grow and thrive. Also, the 2 girls need to have skills like maybe help enroll them in Tesda to be a hilot, manikurista, etc.
    Sari-sari store isn't the best solution unless the owner can protect the capital and the profit and use it to make the sari-sari store bigger, but if the family has to rely on it for their daily sustenance, it will only last maybe a month. My suggestion of giving them veggies seeds will give them healthy food to eat even without rice. Talbos, kamatis, at patis is a healthy meal and if you eat more of these, you will be avoiding diabetes and heart disease.

    I’m glad you made the point about religion. The truth hurts and some people can’t deal with it, but it’s still the truth nonetheless. Well done again in helping this very close and kind family 👏 (one suggestion, maybe you should buy groceries wholesale, and then negotiate a further charitable discount, instead of perhaps buying locally at retail prices. Just the main products like rice, sugar, milk etc. It might work in the larger cities, I know it will be logistically challenge in the provinces. It’s just a thought) ingat! 💛
