The BLUETTI EP500 Pro is the largest electric generator we have reviewed. With a massive 5120 watt hour battery, it is able to keep your fridge running for up to 4 days without needing to be recharged and is a great choice for off-grid needs.
With the recent blackouts and brownouts affecting the power grid due to a shortage of transformers, natural disasters, and unstable power grids, the BLUETTI EP500 Pro gives us peace of mind to keep our electronics going.
On top of being a great backup for when the power goes out, it allows us to charge our PEVs on the go. However, the weight and size of the EP500 Pro make it not the most portable electric generator.

Such stations are very popular here in Ukraine. Our local manufacturers are overwhelmed with consumer requests. No blackout in my region, but as I am all about electricity and my job relates heavily to it things like this can be a game changer this winter. Better to be with such stations than to live under a Russian regime.
You're not scared of staying in that country?
We are all behind you to keep your freedom from theses monsters. Hopefully the new military gear will help as well as these power stations to keep things running out in the field. Stay safe as much as you can, from Canada.
I pre-ordered one of these units on Indiegogo and when they became available, I was told by Bluetti that they could not ship to Canada. I arranged delivery to a US location and private freight transport to Canada, and then was told that it would take several more months to fulfill the order. So, instead they offered the AC200MAX with 2 x B300 extension packs and some solar panels, which seemed like an acceptable deal. After 2 months of light use, the barrel connector of the AC charger fused to the unit (completely unable to unplug it, trying to force it from the outside started to tear the body) and it would produce toxic fumes if I tried to charge it. The B300 units didn't always sync to the AC200MAX, almost a 50/50 chance that both would sync to the main unit at power up. I heard some warnings about the Bluetti products from battery enthusiasts but I was attracted to the design aesthetics and the promise for a large capacity and high inverter output at a good price. I hope EP500 users have better experiences that what happened to me, good luck.
Wow, that is crazy is fused together and was creating toxic fumes. I would definitely not keep that battery in your house.
Why didn't you buy your unit from the office here in Canada.
Sorry to hear about your experience with Bluetti. It's always frustrating when expectations aren't met. If you're looking for a reliable off-grid power solution, I highly recommend checking out the Segway Portable PowerStation Cube Series. With its massive capacity, waterproof technology, and comprehensive protections, it's designed to deliver reliable power for all your outdoor adventures. Plus, the smart app control allows you to easily manage and monitor your energy usage. Give it a try and I hope you have a better experience this time. Happy camping!
Very nice. Thanks for sharing the unboxing.
Love your work as always guys, I've been looking at the bluetti 600w for days out. 😉👌
It's a comforting feeling to know you have a safeguard in case of a power failure. I recently ordered the AC 200 Max and 45 minutes later we had one of the worst thunderstorms in history, a small tornado and a total blackout here in Canada. With the amount of wildfires and other natural disasters out of control everywhere this is now a necessity of life. By the way you're going to need another one soon one is never enough. They will get lonely, just joking. One week later I ordered an extra battery and believe it or not that day we had another blackout.
It looks wonderful for a van life !!
The portability is really cool but at $6000 it's wildly overpriced. You can get an eg4 battery and eg4 3000w inverter to do the same thing as this with the same battery capacity for less than $2500. Mount the eg4 on a cart and you could have the portability too.
Tell me more….
Sounds like they maybe use a higher quality battery if it gets 6000 charge cycles
@@shabue see will prowse on youtube.
@@graemebuchan1919 same battery chemistry as the eg4. actually EG4 advertises a 7000 cycle life
You are correct ! I built a 48 v eg4 / growatt all in one for around $2400 .00 moves on a hand truck ! 5100 wh / will handle over 4000w pv input
You two guys give the best reviews on everything..perfect on scooter reviews...
Batteries are great. We have 2 Tesla Powerwalls rated at 14 kWh each. They get charged by the solar and have largely eliminate our electric bills. In some summer months we were spending close to $500 and now we are spending approximately $10 which to get a connection to the grid. We also always have power in our house. And we can sell power back to the grid. During some events we get $2/kWh such as the recent electricity shortfall event.
Adding the Powerwalls to the solar install increased the costs by $12,500 full installed. I wished we would have added a 3rd Powerwall.
Great info! I’m going to have to look into this. What region are you located in?
What size solar panel system have you set up? I am looking to add solar and batteries to my new house which should be completed mid next year. I'm aiming for a 10.2kW solar panel system with 1 powerwall. Should I be looking to add more powerwalls?
@@bausHuckif you are going to 10.2 kW of solar I suggest thinking about adding a second Powerwall if the budget allows. Adding a second Powerwall will extend your time you can run in a power outage, also it extends the time you don't buy power, which can reduce your bills.
Not sure if answered below but the difference in the cycles is 100% to 20% (80%) gives you the higher and 100% to 0% (Full discharge) gives you the lower. This is what I was told.
This thing's going on my wish list.
Never understood nor had patience with the all too-typical unpacking, "unboxing" videos. Your vid was the first.
Great transition from what to expect with shipping, a brief, very clean, simple unpacking on through the features. Also, you boys probably need to ask Blue Eddy...oops, Bluetti to have you take your show "on the road"...hilarious.
this is one of the best review i have seen thus far. you guys nailed it. btw how's the noise from the cooling fans?
Thanks for this
How much power does it use from the Grid after its Fully Charged in UPS mode? also I'm interested in using it to shift my power usages for TOU so I charge the battery between 12-6 am and use it for the day or at least during peak rate hours automaticly. how well would it support that? is it safe to run a PC off of it and pull the plug in UPS mode?
Don't think I didn't see that mten4! Looking forward to that video
Wow nice review 👍
This is a great time for solar/battery systems. New and better things showing up all the time. Have you looked at the ac500? seems less portable but much more expandable
I have looked into it. Looks like a much more portable design with the ability to add more units.
I dropped off two defective EP500PRO units in August at at their Las Vegas address and got a written receipt. They were supposed to ship me two new units but after four months I can't get anyone to return a call or respond to an email. They are not answering their phones but they are still selling their products.
awesome 👍🏻
When ur getting solar energy and charging at the same time, does that waste battery cycles or does it the energy go directly to thing ur charging?
If memory serves me correct you can only charge or drain a battery and not both at the same time. So the power from the solar goes into feed the electronics and the power supply kicks in the remainder.
I could be wrong on this though as it’s been awhile and the tech has changed now.
That's crazy!
Can you turn the bluetooth and wifi off? and can you add additional batteries to it? Thanks
Thanks!
Wow! Thank you!
Such a cool channel! Hashtag solar goals.
What is the cost evaluation on charging your truck vs gas? Was wondering on that.
I did a review on the Yesper battery bank it was supposed to be 💦 waterproof but reading the instructions proved differently. Is this humidity heat and waterproof by chance?
Man if I were you guys I would get out of California. You’ve got a state they can’t even keep the power on that’s scary. Good job on getting the blue Eddie though I would be anxious to know if you can run your main AC on your house.
if you use the unit as UPS, in which case it will not fully discharge ever because it’s plugged into the wall, how long do you think battery would last vrs full discharge
Very good 👍 my friend ❤
Thank you! Cheers!
In a grid down situation it’s good to keep your fridge running for a few days. But remember, The more stuff you add to it the faster it will drain and in a grid down situation, you need to be conservative. But the big thing people don’t really look into is how long it will take to fully charge the unit with just those solar panels.
Trust me. Run a test to see how long it will take to fully charge your unit from 25% with those panels. You’re going to need more panels or plan B.
Run a test and you will see what I’m talking about. Trust me, do your test now and have a plan B. Not when you need it the most and find out you should have ran a test
Good luck
Scheming up using one of Bluetti's power systems plus a crapton of lightweight solar panels to charge up my Model 3 in the middle of nowhere
It could be done!
35000+ cycles for 80% and 6000+ for 50% total capacity remaining
The one thing that annoys me the most about all these new devices coming out is that people are calling Power Storage Devices, Generators. These devices "DO" "NOT" "GENERATE" Power. They Store power for later use, if you don't plug it into a power source or an actual "Power Generator" guess what...you won't have any power.
Other than that yeah its pretty it has 5000+ WH of storage hence the weight. You could build something with just as much storage on wheels and make it look pretty with 3D printing and give it all the more features for roughly the same price if not cheaper.
With the Rivan sitting there you have all the battery power you need it could run the whole house for more than a day.
That's interesting. Do these EV's have electrical outlets?
@@nlskeebo40 some even can run your house when grid is down Ford lightening has this option to backfeed.
@@offgridwanabe Wow, that's a amazing feature.
I just picked up the Ecoflow Delta Pro because of the bigger inverter, and smart gas generator option in the event there is no sun for a few days. I can pick it up myself (~100 lbs) versus this unit's heft. Both are awesome, but I thought the Delta Pro has the edge, especially the app. I have other Bluetti products. Ecoflow seems a little better built.
Good recommendation. I'd say the Ecoflow's price per watt-hour is also better. True...the Delta Pro only has 70% of the watt-hours of the Bluetti - but for only 60% of the price. For me, the closer the price gets to an equivalent battery/charge controller/inverter setup, the more likely I am to prefer the all-in-one solution.
Ecoflow's app is much better than the Bluetti app. I thought the propane smart gas generator was a genius idea.
MR Wanderlust... I wish i research more and found your comment before my purchased.2x AC300 split phase bought end of NOV 2022 .one failed unable to use for almost a week NO RESPONSE from BLUETTI,so frustrating.I just wish all the BLUETTI CZcamsRS are on consumers side to help people trying to go green doesn't experience worst than ever with this company
Whoa. Andrew rides a Onewheel?!?! Mind
blown. Love you guys's content.
That’s how we met! On a onewheel group ride!
I love the Onewheel. Jimmy and I were just at Future Motion in Santa Cruz and we did a group ride with the management team. I'm an avid snowboarder and the Onewheel was the perfect combination to have in the summer months.
@@Andrew-vt4jt cool! That's what got me into Onewheeling as well (I'm a long time snowboarder as well). Snowboarding was the gateway activity that got me into kiteboarding. Now unfortunately I live in a place where I'm not really able to do either... at least not the way that I'd like to (living in Japan spoiled me on both)... so Onewheeling it is! I live in a place where there aren't many Onewheelers, so I have to live a little vicariously through CZcams content (thanks to you and Jimmy for the great entertainment). It must be a lot of fun to go on group rides (unfortunately none any in my area). Hope to run into you guys and ride with you some day!
@@djd7421 I've always wanted to snowboard in Japan. What's your favorite resort out there?
Where do you live at now? If you ever make it to Denver, we'll have to go on a group ride.
You are at least one year behind the times. Bluetti has both the AC300 (which is very similar to this product but without the wheels) and the AC500 (more powerful).
❤💛💙 Love this at home UPS backup system! How can the grid handle the increasing demand for electricity? E-cars, E-bikes, E-lectronics, E-homes, and the grid can't handle E-airconditioners in July? We need to set up with Generators, Solar panels, Virtual Off-Grid capability...
This is the designer in me. What coating is that on the garage floor? Alright back to watching the video. Lol.
There is nothing like gas generators 😊
I was thinking the same thing
Irma.. 11 days without power. That is a lot of gas, with most gas stations without gas, or 40+ min waits (and $70 limit). Both have pros and cons.
This is a poor design. Most generators weighing this much have handle for transport.
What is the actual KWH discharge from full charge to full discharge? I'd bet around 4.2 kwh, right?
Can you recharge the unit by plugging the unit into the wall out, and if so, how long for full charge?😢
Three Tesla power walls cost 25k and gives you 40kwh. Thats about $625 per kwh. This unit is closer to $1,175 per kwh. The Tesla is by far the better bang for your buck if you plan on doing a home backup unit.
thanks
Yeah this is just crazy
This is probably a sponsored video
Kindly, tell me which Tesla Power walls to obtain in order for providing 30kWh.
Aslo which solar panels to buy for this system.
Sorry I am clueless as I am an old woman with no technical or electrical background. Thanks for being forgiving and prepare to answer. God Bless.
@kakuretatsumi715 That is cherry picking a little. A single Tesla Powerwall is $11,500. You get way more capacity 13.5 kWh vs 5.1 kWh, and a better invertor. You give up longevity (NMC vs LiFePO4 chemistry) and portability since a Tesla Powerwall is static. The best option for home back up is an MPPT and server rack batteries. You can get a 30 kWh in batteries for 9,000 and an MPPT with an invertor for a couple thousand
If the battery dies will these power back on the next day automatically once the sun rises?
Hey guys I'll agree the price may be a barrier for some people but if you have the shop app on your phone that app We'll let you break down the payments into 12 bite size payments as far as I can see 12 months at 15% intrest for the service your monthly payments are going to be about 433.15 a month so I'll admit I'm thinking about getting it for my future tiny house
Imagine if you could use an EUC as a battery backup for your house- buys master pro- I am not buying another toy I am ensuring power delivery to the house !
The Master Pro is just 620-watt hours less than this beast. It would be sweet if we could use it as a backup battery.
Nothing like a solar smoothie
4:01
As per the description it says 6000 cycles and there will be 80% after 3500 cycles
Atfer 10 years it will have 80% of the capacity and it should last 16 years
Wouldn't a better idea, given that you have a massive battery in your Rivian, to use that as your backup power system? Rivian should develop a box that the truck plugs into that you can then add a cable to plug into a transfer switch. I mean your truck battery has gotta be 20x as big, no?
Crazy expensive but I gotta get one, maybe a little smaller as most are expandable. Great review but no ramen this time? Lol
What's the price
lol i love the humor
Is there a way to plug it into your panel ?
Can that be able to connect and recharge using solar panel to charge it solar ?
It can be charged with solar panels.
What is the mppt solar voltage range
Can one of these power a 200/300 Lt deep freezer or a 400 Lt fridge if home power goes off
Absolutely! It should be able to run it for a few days if you hook up both of them.
I have no power lines near my property.. I run off of a 24/7 water fall mill.. I charge my rechargeable truck an car off of it.. I had the groverment saying I had to pay a monthy charge for being under the grid
Can you connect it to a windmill at night, and solar during the day?
I have a water fall mill. It runs 24/7. I have no electricity at all.
🔥🔥🔥
Hopefully no fires though!
It's a nice bit of kit but the one thing that often let's these things down is like many generators they can't run and electric welder, such as a mig.
Many of these things just can't handle it.
I wonder how much power a mig welder would draw. This has the highest surge output that I've seen on a electric generator so I wonder if it could handle it. Now I need to find a welder!
I just looked at a youtuber mig welding with an EP500 so yeah, it works.
I would definitely leave that outside lol
🔴Can someone please tell me the difference between the bluetti ep500 and the new ac500, how do i decide which one to get
woooowww nice browww
4:00 pick one. You are presenting yourselves as experts so you should decide, through research, which spec is correct.
Great share, Can you recommend something more portable and less expensive. Thanks 😊
Sure thing! czcams.com/video/66BxH0M_8BA/video.html
Or did you want smaller?
@@freshlychargedHi, can you recommend something charge my tesla. My apartment can't install tesla power wall and won't let us charge at garage. Any suggestions 🤔 Thanks
@@islandersean2213 you will need something massive to charge a Tesla. This would only charge a Tesla for 12 miles and its huge.
Did you say there’s no way to know how much power is used?
I like the watt hours but the rest sucks unlike the Ecoflow which is lighter more watts and more portable.
A transfer switch will make your life a lot easier .
It should have off road tires and better clearance
Where could i buy. It looks great
that would be funny if you guys ended the video after putting the phone on the top lol.
Could you please review this Escooter, please? ICE Q5 evolution max.
Maybe you can do a review of one from that brand Anker ?
How many thousands of dollars worth of solar panels do you need to charge this in a day?
Crazy how the Begode Master Pro euc is only 300Wh less 😅
and this is one of the biggest battery generators out there!
🤙🏼👀⚡
12 years on my Honda generator and uses a simple Briggs engine that is very common if it needed replaced. I don't live in the city, or state that plans to ban gas engines, so this opinion may not be relevant to everyone, it just doesn't seem practical. I respect the concept just not the practicality. Great review otherwise folks!
Can you take it backpacking?
Depends on how strong you are and how big your backpack is. 🤣
Nice overall but I have a hard time believing any of these things will last 10 years. There's no data yet to support that.
Lots of long term data available for LIFEPO4 batteries.
Thank you for calling it a battery there is a company that sells one and they call it a generator
So which would be better;
one EP500 PRO ($6000)
or two refurbished EP500s ganged together ($6000)?
The two EP500s would have more capacity but the EP500 Pro would have a higher peak output and can take a higher charge rate. Depends on what you are running. If you aren't drawing too much power the two EP500s would be best.
Attach a motor to it a ride for days.
Sono convinto di bluetti ma l'assistenza ?.....? Quando avro i pannelli fotovoltaici pensero a bluetti per accumulo .
Saluti da Miland
It's only has a slightly larger capacity than the Master Pro lol
Must be Nice to have all that stuff, anyway y’all can donate something to me!? Electric bike, maybe teach me the unicycle one wheel thingy….? DBC.. Daily Blessings Coming! .. Thank You ALL for Sharing and Everything, Everyday!!
Nice video guys, but I don’t get it? Powers out. Ok, I only need ONE appliance to work. My HVAC. If it’s winter, just a few amps at 240V is going to heat my whole house running on natural gas. Is this $6,000 machine going to do that? Now it’s summer. Same voltage more amps. How about it? I can heat whatever I need on my stove. For the frig, lighting, charging, I can get a small battery backup and then charge it with my $499 HD generator. The geek in me wants one of these but for what?
Thousands of dollars. Every body speaks of when the power goes out. Could this power my small off grid on the daily in a real life scenario? . I dont run very much lol a tv. Game system. Surround sound. Some lights. Charging phones lap tops and power tools. Maybe a small guitar amp 15watts. DVD player small mini fridge. I have generator for ac and propane for heat. I usually work 10 hours a day. So I barely use anything most of day anyway but I would like to leave my tv on all day while I'm at work for my dogs she likes the tv on. Can I charge from predator 3500 inverter generator without worry? For the money its gonna have to be able to make things easy and convenient for me or I will probably just build my own set up. I have alot of things to build so I would like to simplify my power delivery if possible
Now I just need to lose about 50lbs and I can stick this baby on my ebike.
Not as big as in the brochure. It is camera angle 😉
A Powerwall has 12kwh. This has 5 kWh. And you were saying the powerwall is too expensive? It costs $10k while this is $6k.
With install?
@@freshlycharged obviously not, but for the price of that install, the Powerwall will run your furnace or AC, your lights, your fridge or whatever else you have in your house. This thing will run your toaster and your PC. Sure it can handle the wattage, but are you going to run extension cords to everything?
