  • Hello, today I install a set of Mil Spec battery terminals from Fastronix. Not sure why they are Mil Spec, but they are beefy and cheap. These terminals make it easy to add on winches, air compressors, and auxiliary fuse boxes/ power set ups under the hood. The through bolt and nut on the terminal excepts large lugs that are common on winches and air compressors. In my case all three will be installed shortly. These do require the use at of least a small torch and some soldering skills or the use of a decent crimp tool (not a hand held). I am for sure no expert, but they came out decent. I fully intend to replace them within the next ninety thousand miles or so. I do believe it would be way easier to solder outside of the engine bay. But that requires the removal of the main power cables. Either way, I hope you enjoy and it helps someone out. Stay Safe. Links below.

    The purpose of solder is to exclude air and thereby oxidation from the joint.
    The connection should be first made mechanically and electrically sound, then soldered.
    Crimped connections are effective in excluding air especially if heat shrinking afterwards. Overall clean install 👌

    If had a hydraulic cable crimpper 1 minute you been done harbor freight 40 bucks or less I own 07 Toyota fJ cruiser I am installing dual battery by odyssey and I will need change my terminal ends and be using military style terminal for better installation and twisting of cables I think the hydraulic crimpper are better faster connection

      I have heard some good things about the heavy duty crimpers. Good luck hope it goes smoothly.

      @@ClassyTacos I agree with james ray, I have a hydraulic crimper and it works fantastic . I would have replaced those wimpy stock cables with 0 gauge cables and use heavy duty zinc plated copper terminals . The terminal you used was way to large for the cable you used, it should be a fairly tight fit . Thanks for the video .

      I like the idea of the s-pod, but I will be running everything to OEM style switches. I just think they look cleaner. Thanks for watching.

    What are the bolt and hole diameters???

    • @ClassyTacos
      @ClassyTacos  Před 2 lety

      Instead of me giving you a measurement as I don't know what application you are trying to install this into. Just make sure you know what is needed for your install. What are the sizes of the bolts you intend to use and match that. Thanks for watching.

    Don't solder your lugs, use the proper crimping tool
