The song is great. However, the best thing is that on the actual movie credits, at the end, as the final note is closing, you hear Darth Vader take a breath. It was an easter egg of epic proportions.
Now like 20 years later, that breath at the end is my absolute favourite part of the whole movie. Anytime i watch this film i always sit through the credits all the way to the end. It gives me chills.

Honestly I love this song. I feel like while the prequels were imperfect at best I can still bear to rewatch them because the soundtrack is so astounding it more than makes up for whatever emotional depth is lacking in the performances by the actors.

Same thing with the "are you an angel" line. I have no problems with it. As a slave on tatooine, padme is easily the prettiest girl he's ever seen by that point. Any girls of similar beauty he would have seen would have been woman of the night for crime bosses and not so modestly dressed, no average women in the area can waste time and resources on makeup and fancy dresses and such. And she is wearing obviously foreign, modest, fancy clothes. So him thinking, "oh, is this one of those angels I've heard about" makes sense. I don't think he was even trying to flirt with her at the time, it was a genuine question. Don't get me wrong, there is awkward dialogue in the prequels, but I think people exaggerate it a lot.

Love this fucking song so much! Part of the reason that Phantom Menace has my favorite ending of all of the Star Wars movies! The other part is Padme’s smile to Anakin! I’ll never forget seeing this scene (and that smile!) for the first time in theaters as a five-year old kid!

he shifts to a key center that is a tritone away - the tritone is special in that it separates the octave into two equal parts. you can't get further away from the original tonal center so to speak. the root of the first key (and the whole orchestra + choir plays it unision as a pedal tone in the end) works as a leading tone to the fifth of the new key (which is the first melody note of the ending credits). the same idea is being used with the simpsons theme (no key transition though)! :)

The key is just changed, the tempo increased, and somber male voices traded for exuberant children. John Williams is an amazing composer, and what he did with the two themes is just a small example.
