In my opinion 0:43-1:20 is the most beautiful thing I have ever heard; the knight waving to them knowing he has to stay behind waiting all this time... gets me every freaking time.

What makes 'The Last Crusade' stand out for me, is that the film is about so much more than a treasure hunt. I love 'Raiders', and consider it a flawless masterpiece. However, the relationship between Indy and his dad in 'Last Crusade' does add another layer of depth to the plot.
The true moment of triumph in the movie is not the finding of the Grail, but the reconciliation between father and son at the end. At that moment, both Indy and his dad realise that the mending of their broken relationship is far more important than all the glories the Grail can offer.

    • @coopsauce112

I barely understood what was going on but lots of the iconic images were burned into my brain, especially the opening temple scene, the snakes in the pit and the climax of opening the ark. Of course he took me to see Temple of Doom and Last Crusade as well (in 7th grade by that time). And I also saw Crystal Skull with my parents. Just waiting for a 5th one now.

It definitely influenced me to stay Catholic. The Holy Grail, Last Supper, Communion all being the center of Catholic Mass as well as this movie. It also influenced me for my love of archeology and world history. Definitely my favorite trilogy of all time, this one being my favorite of the original three.

It warms my heart knowing I'm not the only one: me and my dad used to love watching Last Crusade. He died six years ago, and whenever I hear that beautiful fanfare, reminiscent of the glory attributed to God and the adventure that has always been a part of religious history, it takes me back to the times we would watch films like these. Free from my mother's abuse and jobs and worries. We'd just enjoy an archaeologist punching Nazis and finding treasured artifacts. I miss those simple pleasures

I know that's a line from the original movies, but it evokes the feeling of something old, powerful, and forgotten. And, unfortunately, the first time we see the Jedi Temple/Jedi Council is in the prequels, so that's where the music might come in.

First of all, Harrison Ford is old and tired, he won't be playing Indy anymore. And if he would, you don't expect him to fight nazis again, when an older Indy was portrayed during cold war? If they make Indiana Jones 5, I'd simply predict it would be a reboot series instead and yet again numbered from number 1. Without Harrison Ford, it won't be great Indiana Jones like in 1984-1989 (the first 3 movies, the fourth was not that great). Or, they may make sequels with his son instead. The last scene of The Kingdom of Crystal Skull quite implied Henry Jones 3rd could be the next Indiana Jones, right? And his dad would occasionally show up :)

Movie franchises works best as a trilogy, beyond that things starts to go downhill .. and you must not have too big a time gap between each sequel because everyone starts to lose touch and forget how the magic used to work ...

Thank God they never made a fourth one. What next, you gonna tell me we got Russian villains, Shia LaBeouf as Indy's son, and a hunt for aliens?
Pff, sounds like shit, one can only imagine 😳

Unpopular opinion I like the forth one purely because it was the first Indiana jones film I ever watched

My Nana's favorite of the franchise was The Last Crusade. I always watch it every now and then in memory of her, in addition to the movie being just amazing.
