Hey , how can you explain that I deposited 10$ in Jokerstars, I won a tourney for 100$ with bounties and after that my bankroll is down to 9$ by spamming tourneys same playstyle.?
I did noticed that although I run deep I always lost from consecutive coolers!!!
To me it seems that there are bots and superusers that get in your table u dealt 2nd best hand and you loose your stack trying to bust out the guy that was dealt the best hand.
It's freaking obvious...They wand the deposit..
I also noticed that for a strange reason all Brazil players are in the top in tourneys running deep..
This isn't a troll question but how you can explain it?!cuz I can't!

Excellent tips here. I agree deals are not generally in your favor, but there are times in my opinion when they make sense. Usually in the smaller Live buy in tournaments that have a turbo structure. You're down to 5 people in a $50 tournament. No one has more the 10BB and the small stack is 3BB (Say blinds just went to 8k-16k with 16k BB ante). You really aren't playing anymore, it becomes more like Bingo.
Of course these are likely Recreational Tournaments anyway. Usually take 3-4 hours and are a way to spend a morning or evening at your local card room.....Not going to make a living, but not bad for some practice playing with or against 20-40BB stacks for when you are in those bigger tournaments.
Keep up the good work Nathan

Do a video on rebuy tournaments, i pretty much dominate freeze out tournaments but at these rebuy tournaments everyone is playing loose and aggressive just so they can buy back in multiple times which is great for the prize pool and i have came pretty close to the final table at these tournies and even one hand away from the final table but always getting eliminated late usually in coin flip situations where someone is chasing a flush or straight and hit it or i have AK and draw dead. I have tried multiple strategies to get to the next level in these tournaments but i keep falling just short normally due to a coin flip, i have already exploited the rebuyers but now just need to get that next level where I'm cashing out

I've played 15 tournaments in the span of 1 Month (December). The very first tournament, I actually won it, I want to say it was more luck, but I was playing aggressive and cards were just working for me. Very next day, I went on another run, but played TOO aggressively and ran into a monster. --- So I see what you are saying about playing more aggressive and not waiting for AA KK etc. But In my 15th Tournament, My style of play has changed from that Aggressive loose player to Semi Conservative player. I like to wait for premium hands in early positions, and my range will widen when i'm on the button or hi jack. -- As some of the comments say, now a days, people chase down to the river catching cards like nothing. So waiting for premium hands and having basically the nuts before show down helps against these loose players. I agree with alot of the video. The bubble portion was great, I will note to attack medium stacks.
Final Table, tbh, I'm happy to make the money, Poker for me is just to get better at my game and prepare me for the next. When I'm on the final table, I play that loose aggressive style.
If anyone wondering, I have cashed out 3 times. Two First place and 3rd Place, Made the final table 4 times out of the 15. I feel like when I got 3rd place, was the best I've played. The times I won first, I feel luck was on my side.

The question is how to you play loose aggressive VS people with JJ or better? Obviously you can't be too agressive pre because they will often be hapt to get it all in and you don't want to get it all in with 99 or 8Ts, so are you apply max pressure turn and hoping their pair can't handle the pressure when you could have flush/straight/full house/trips? And so you just reply on them not having good hands?

I'm a nit in tourneys and I do very well in most tournaments I play in. When I play loose aggressive I get my ass kicked and lose every time in tourneys. My tourney rules. 1. No bluffing with nothing which I learned from you. 2. No all in before the flop. 3. No calling big raises pre flop. 4. Bet with the nuts only. 5. Fold away allot. 6. Don't get mad when you fold a winning hand if the cards were shit. Just carry on with a level head every beat. Your gonna lose and your gonna win some. Sit out for a bit if you get mad or frustrated or upset. Destress then get back in the game. Poker is definitely mental warfare but also luck and skills.

My online results aren’t as good but I have used a moderately successful strategy for live tournaments. I buy in for the maximum because some tournaments offer add-ons and double add-ons. They are also sometimes offered during the longest break as well. I play very conservatively early and only play premium hands while keeping an eye on the number of big blinds I have. When the blinds increase to where I’m around 25 BB, I get very aggressive before the flop in late position when I sense weakness. I prefer to go all in too. I have been ridiculed for this many times but I love when a short stack is all in and there are several callers because I’ll go all in with any 2 cards to make it heads up and I get 5 or 6 to 1 odds on my money. Usually I make it to the final table with around a dozen BB. I go out around 7th place and when I’m more successful, I’ll make the top 5 or 3 where we usually chop it based on chips. I won first place once. That’s a simplified version but the strategy has kept me competitive in local tournaments for years

I listened to this video driving to the casino. I just won a green$25 chip bounty $125 buy in tournament. I took your advice of being more aggressive and it worked! Thanks a lot. To be technical, we chopped the winnings at the final table 4 ways. I know you’re against doing that. I would estimate my stack being about 2nd place but it was late as heck and I was getting tired. Thanks again!

How can one make these points, especially point 1, in accordance with the fact that people just do not fold anymore? Especially online in the lower stakes tournaments, but also in general, people easily call off massive (parts of their) stacks with very marginal hands, preflop and postflop. Stealing chips by bluffing is just hard to do nowadays, even with the best bluffing candidates. Furthermore, i assume with point 3 you just mean that it is better to play for the win and therefore consider icm somewhat less. Thank you.

    • @Mamppa20

Bluffing in small stake games against loose players is almost never worth it. Just waiting for premium hands and going all in with them is the way to go.

I have noticed a pattern with me. I will often gather a large pot (3 to 4 times the next pot) or have the most chips at the beginning of the tournament 6 to 9 players till there are 3 or 2 players left and the blinds have increased substantially. At that point, i started loosing my large chip advantage and finish top 3 sometimes. Sometimee not. How can I leverage that large pot in later rounds?
I think I will try to start playing VERY TIGHT and over fold. With the large size blind the other players will still get more and more depleted. And only play my best hands. We will see.

A better title for this video would be Play Like A Fish And Hope To Get Lucky.
The maths alone mean the "advice" here is terrible: First off, playing marginal hands early in a tourn when the blinds are low means you'll be be running into all sorts of hands hitting monster flops unless you oversize your bets/raises, as a lot of players will just have come for the fun and willing to slide a reasonable amount of their chips in preflop. If you bet into them post-flop, they'll just take your stack. Sure, sometimes they'll fold their better holdings to your J 10 o/s, but the pot they fold to you will be much smaller than the pot they'll take from you when they've hit. In a multiway pot, this strategy is further compunded to failure.
The genisis author of most of the strategy on Texas Hold 'Em as it has evolved to today, David Sklansky, put this directly into what he called The Theorem Of Poker (he also coined the term Semi-Bluff). The main precept was that if your opponent(s) would have acted differently if they could see your cards, you win. And if your opponent(s) would have acted the same if they could see your cards, you lose. The problem with the strategy here is that when you win, you only win what's in the pot before you put your bet in to steal it with a bluff. When you put in the bluff and your opponents have hit, then they win that pot PLUS what you've put in in an attempt to steal, or likely your whole stack if you've pot commited yourself on a 4 card outer or something.
This is compounded even further by what's next after the inevitable. After stacking off and turning your cards revealing crap (standard practise in tourns, regardless of the raiser/bettor), you reach into your pocket, or click the button, to rebuy. If you do, then what? You've just been forced to telegrapg to the whole table what you were up to. And they'll remember, both during this tourn and any future ones you may be in. The wise thing to do then would be to make the most of your table rep, wait for really big hands and get paid off as a result due to your table rep, but the "advice" makes no mention of this. If you continue the "strategy", the players will slow-play monsters and take stack after stack after stack of yours. Meaning you'll make rebuy after rebay after rebuy, if you can afford it. Where he gets something right on this point is that only 1st, 2nd or 3rd matters in this strategy, and the lower paying places are meaningless, as you'd need a very high place finish just to get your rebuys back.
Think of the maths. If you're playing an average £10 rebuy with 200 runners. Likely 3rd place would pay around £200. If your strategy has caused you to make 10 rebuys, you'd have to be making 3rd place or better roughly 1 in 4/5 times, and you won't. Mainly due to this style being self-advertising even to the unobservent. In a 9 handed game, roughly 1 in 5 hands sees someone holding AA, KK, QQ, JJ, 1010 or AK. They'll looking for someone to pay them off, and it's likely going to be you playing this way. You may as weel have check-raise me on your forehead. Even if they miss the flop, they'll know you're also likely to have too.
I've seen this exact scernario play out countless times in both live and online tourns. The way to play profitibly in tourns is get your money in when you have "the best of it" (another Sklansky coined term) and hope your hand holds up. Sure, there's a high likelihood that any tourn will be won by someone who played this strategy and efficely bought a monster stack, but what you don't see is the times they've donked off 100+ rebuys in this and this previous tourns and walked with nada.
What's being described here is playing for an adreneline fest, and the (usually very) short term buzz of being seen to command the table. Both of which are very costly hobbies. Feel free to either take my advice or prepare to pay a small fortune to learn it first hand.
Where this strategy can be effectve is targetting small stacks near the bubble, or taking aim at nits who have made the final table, who invariably have a Big Bet=Big Hand mentality and are looking to get just one place further. Otherwise, the whole thing goes against the first rule in tournament poker: Don't expect the cards to help you, just from the other direction with a painfully expensive kick in the jewels.
Best tourn strategy is to play only small pots early in the tourn, playing hyper-aggressive with AA, KK, QQ, AK. This should see you double, triple or more your stack (usually paid for by people playing the strategy discribed in the video) going into the middle stages, where you should switch to solid TAG and avoid drawing hands like the plague. The advice in the video is correct when it comes to near bubble-play, targetting small stacks (particularly timid ones) ferociously. Post bubble, you would need to loosen up, looking for opportunities to steal from particular opponents.

yes & no to this video. My biggest wins were when I played my place in the tourney, not just the cards in hand. Folding KK or QQ, even AA has been GOOD strategy if I am aiming at the final 9 players.

Rule #1 When youre dealt AK, try to hit at least top pair.
    Rule#2 Win your flips.
Rule#3 Dont bust out on the bubble.
Rule#4 If youre dealt a pocket pair, make sure to try to hit a set.
Rule#5 This guys main objective is to make profitable CZcams content, in order to replenish his bankroll, so take what he says with a grain of salt.

Playing high and tight works for me. I play with a small stack. I bluff at times to catch opponents off guard. As my pot grows i loosen up.

I don't agree with the never make deals. If you've made the final table; you deserve AT LEAST your buy in back and most mtt I've played in only pay top 3-4 places. Making final table is hard and you should be rewarded, even if you have an extremity short stack. And yes, I've won small $100 buy in mtts.

I can somewhat argee with that, depending on the table stakes. I prefer to stick with multi or sit and go. I only do micro stake cash occasionally now. If you're dead card in cash, you get beat or the blinds suck you dry.
