- In this WHAT IF in History video, I'm discussing the repercussions of Henry II of France if he hadn't died in 1559.
What would have happened for Europe?
What would have happened to Catherine de Medici?
How would have evolved the Anglo-French alliance?
What would have happened to Mary Stuart?
Would we have had religious civil wars?
Let me know your thoughts down below. :)

Great video as always Elle 😊
Thank you!
Really enjoyed this!! Such thoughtful suppositions! It certainly makes sense that given H2's strong relationship with the Guises, that the religious wars, esp St. Bart's, and it's aftermath, wouldn't have happened.. which I believe would have been the most significant change in history, if he would have lived longer..
Thank you so so much, Laurie! So glad you enjoyed it!
That's one of the best questions a historian of the period could possibly ask. Kudos, Madame Elle😄🙃
Thanks so much! So kind of you!
Enjoyed this video! Many Thanks!
Thank you!
This was really interesting. I'd just assumed there'd be something like Francis I's rivalry with Charles V. I'd also assumed this would unofficilally take precedence over any religious issues. (This isn't me suggesting you missed anything just me explaining my own uneducated assumptions.)
Thanks so much for watching!
