AUD $1.00 is (about) .50 or .60 P so $2500 = 1250 pound sterling. An interesting thing is how well the polymer notes survived 18 years (approx) in the canal compared with the cloth/paper based American notes which were almost totally destroyed. Australia was the first country to introduce polymer banknotes for circulation in about 1988
Thats right. Polymer bank notes where actually invented by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO, which is an Australian government agency). The Australian Government holds the patent for the technology and licences it to the other governments that have adopted polymer bank notes.

This is awesome, fun times and banter with your dad. I lost my dad to pancreatic cancer in Feb 2022 and not being able to have adventures with him like we used to is hard. I will get back out and fish but its not the same without your wingman by your side. Enjoy every second you have with your dad.
I learned from this video that other countries have plastic or “polymer” money.. more than 20 other countries have now switched to this material because it lasts 2-3 times longer & it reduces the use of paper to help the environment. Not only are these videos fun to watch, they’re also educational! Good job guys!

American money is actually made of cloth and cotton fibers...it's not all paper...why can't they keep the money? finders keepers...
Canada uses polymer bank notes. Main advantage is cost, they last a lot longer than paper notes, and are harder to counterfeit.

Australia uses Tyvek to print their currency on. US Currency is printed on linen and cotton material. Your US Currency can be exchanged for new at the US Department of the Treasury. I am happy that your scrap metals as that is a great way to make some money. Congrats on all your finds and Thank you for cleaning up the environment a little at a time! ;-)

A bucket of river water would have been a help. Standard reward for returning found goods seems to be about 10% but with this extra effort and ingenuity maybe that's not enough.

Next, I thought how fantastic it is to be cleaning up the waters and taking that metal out of our lakes, rivers, streams & oceans! Mother Earth thanks you, because it's such a horrible pollutant! Not only to humans, but to all the wildlife, animals that drink that water, plants, fish & All sea life!
Plus throughout our lives, we eat those fish that become tainted or even toxic by metals over time! So, you are really doing a service to the World by pulling these metal objects out of the waters! As I am watching you go through the contents of the safe and you were reading the print on the small black box in your hand, you said ‘Seagate’. I know of a computer company in Scott’s Valley, California called Seagate Technologies that produced disk drives and other computer items in the 80s and 90s. It was a wonderful reminder of my favorite time in my life as I lived there during the latter 1980’s.

@@Magneticg I could see it turned into a killer end table, with knotted rebar for legs, and the elevation for a glass top. I'm not sure what you have done with it, but if it's still hanging around, I could see such a unique table selling for 2K or more, as a one of a kind table.
I can't believe I've only just had you as recommendation, I'm a scrapping lady who loves all things metal and treasure hunting and this was excellent, nice family affair and I've joined you! Amazing to find the full safe and I hope it can be reunited with it's owner and you guys get a nice reward to boot! Good job that wasn't poison in that bottle🙈 The only sad thing about magnet fishing is all the evidence of crime that gets pulled up, but always great clean up jobs👍That foot plate looked like it could have been a wheelchair footplate. We are new subscribers from Michigan too. Their channel is much better than the American magnet fishers. We want to try this. I know we can pull a bunch of metal from the Saginaw river, just walking shoreline we have found a bunch of nails and bits of metal from a factory that use to be there.

Greetings from Washington State , USA. Most of the rivers in my state are crystal clear. Of course their purity was protected by Native Americans. There are a lot of polluted rivers in the Eastern and Southern parts of the Country . But out west here we have made a real effort to protect our lakes and rivers and keep them in pristine condition. I live on the Olympic Peninsula, in Washington State . There are many rivers
coming of of the many mountains here in Washington State .and all but one , because of city pollution are clear and pristine , as they come down from mountains into Puget Sound , and the Pacific Ocean . Western USA is very clean , compared to East of the Mississippi. Once one crosses over the Rocky Mountains they have entered a world totally different the the Eastern seaboard, And the Southern States .
It is great watching you both invested in your hobby or however you view it .
Its also very cool you share that with us , especially like me who is pretty home bound now. Spending most of my life , hiking all over the beautiful mountains here.

Wow well done, those are some awesome finds. Actually, I looked and that safe as it were before it ended up there, is a really great looking thing for sure. Even the hand on that door clenched over as the handle sells for a bit on its own as it is. Anyway am loving the videos, so happy to have subbed and found you.
