Born a raise in Chicago, a die hard Hawks fan now living in Arizona, it's sucks that NHL hockey won't be here, but this has been a disaster due to crappy owners over the years, I'm happy the Coyotes/Utah players and coaches don't have to deal with this anymore, I don't trust Alex Meurlo and all the politics involved
seeing the jersey makes me appreciate how amazing the design is/was
Thank you for reporting on this. Keep up the great work and awesome videos
Honestly, at this point I just feel bad. Nothing is working for this franchise.
I can almost guarantee you (talk about conspiracy theories) that several owners in the NHL were “working” with Arizona politicians to prevent Meruelo from winning that bid. Meruelo pissed off probably just about every owner in the NHL for the last several years and I don’t think they want him as an owner. I really think that things went on behind the scenes to prevent this from happening and I believe that the owners are hoping that this discourages Meruelo from moving forward with the Arizona coyotes and it kind of forces him to just sell the trademark and just move onto something else. And in the future, if he ever tries to get back into the NHL in any sort of majority or minority owner, I think the NHL board of Governors and owners will vote against him having anything to do with any financial transactions with the NHL.
Just when I think this situation can’t get any weirder…
Did you actually read up on the facts or did you just comment based on not really knowing them?
Whoever wins the auction has 30 days to close.
So the state doesn't want to sell to the other bidders either?
I don't think AZ wants The Coyotes back....specifically don't want Mueruelo. (not talking fans, talking about the state and city governments...the fans definitely want their Coyotes back, but even they would likely not want Meruelo back). Now they're in the problem of finding competent ownership (which has never been found in AZ) and what to do for an arena. As much as the NHL wants to stay in the Phoenix market, it's looking bleak.
I'm a Coyotes fan and guess how I feel 🙃
do not worry pal Gary will come in and still save it.
@@jared4walsh Says the troll that clearly only comes out when there is controversial Coyotes news.
@@NHLCrazy2007 you know it'll come soon. if Gary will do it.
Happy because we're closer to Meruelo walking away?
Hate to sound bitter. But Arizona had its chance, I get that the current owners were garbage it’s time to move on and look for other cities for expansion.
The NHL just needs to give up on putting a hockey team in Phoenix Arizona and move on . If the NHL is going to have any more expansion teams, it should consider Houston, Texas instead.
or Que Canada.
AZ Coyotes rhyme with failure. The most embarrassing franchise in all of pro sports.
Sad news for Coyotes fans in Arizona. On June 21, the Arizona State Land Department has officially canceled a land auction scheduled for June 27 for the Coyotes’ proposed hockey-specific arena in the aftermath of Smith Entertainment Group’s deal to purchase the Coyotes from Alex Meruelo for $1.2 billion and then relocate them to Utah for next season. On April 14, 2025, Quebecor president and CEO Pierre Karl Peladeau will purchase the Sharks from Hasso Plattner for $1.25 billion, including a relocation fee of $195 million to relocate the Sharks from San Jose to Quebec City for the 2025-26 NHL season. On April 17, 2025, the NHL Board of Governors will approve the sale and relocation of the Sharks to Quebec City in a 29-3 vote. As a result, after 34 years in the Bay Area, the Sharks will relocate to Quebec City to become the 2nd incarnation of the Quebec Nordiques, play their home games at Videotron Centre in the 2025-26 NHL season, become the member of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference, and allow the Red Wings to return to the Central Division of the Western Conference and the Utah Hockey Club to move to the Pacific Division of the Western Conference. On April 12, 2027, Connecticut Sports & Entertainment Group, a Hartford-based group headed by billionaire hedge fund managers Ray Dalio and Todd Boehly, will purchase the Blue Jackets from John P. McConnell for $1.92 billion, including a relocation fee of $195 million to relocate the Blue Jackets from Columbus to Hartford for the 2027-28 NHL season. On April 15, 2027, the NHL Board of Governors will approve both the sale and relocation of the Blue Jackets to Hartford in a 30-2 vote. As a result, after 27 years in Columbus, the Blue Jackets will relocate to Hartford to become the 2nd incarnation of the Whalers and play their home games at the XL Center in the 2027-28 NHL season.
Just let that dream die once and for all. The Sharks just upgraded their arena not that long ago. And the Red Wings and Blue Jackets have no interest switching conferences that makes their travel more difficult.
