  • Just a couple days after the land auction of the potential site of a new hockey arena for the deactivated Arizona Coyotes was canceled because the state wanted Meruelo to obtain a special use permit first before the auction takes place he according to multiple reports including Craig Morgan that Meruelo has walked away from his ownership of the team. What will that do when it comes to the future of hockey in the desert?

He may change the Roadrunners to Coyotes and called them Reno Coyotes (Hopefully Not), but it's a possibility, but hopefully, Arizona will get a Team some day as a Utah you guys actually had the coolest logo ever in the NHL much love to all of you and hope you all don't take it personal to Utah we love hockey we have The Utah Grizzlies and your team is much love and respected here.

I have to admit, I feel no real loss from losing struggling teams with bad owners, BUT...the way he repeatedly stuck the dagger in the fans' hearts before finally walking away is sickening.

It'd be the second time a minor league team in Tucson would relocate to Reno. In 2008, the D'Backs AAA affiliate, Tucson Sidewinders, moved to Reno to be become the Reno Aces.

Love your jersey. Coyotes fan 🙋 He just turned in the keys. It's a good thing but also not a good thing. I'm happy the Panthers won. I'm too emotional. When a owner threatens a lawsuit and just dips when the Cup is being won. I can't even.

Phoenix is the fifth largest city in America we deserve to have four major sports teams. This is ridiculous pisses me off that we wait 5 years to get young talent we finally get the talent and they move out. I think this team will win the stanley Cup in 3 years. As far as a new name I think it would be funny if we were called Arizona haboobs. 😂

Should’ve happened years ago. Imagine if he walked out in 2020 before John chyka did. Might’ve saved this whole franchise.

Alex Meruelo is walking away from the now-defunct Coyotes ownership for good in the aftermath of the cancellation of land auction for the Coyotes’ proposed arena.

Gary Bettman agrees. Just said it was appropriate for Ale to walk away from Arizona, who's politics have made it clear they don't want to work with the NHL. Then said he doesn't see the arena being worked out anytime soon and there is no thought to an expansion franchise at this point in Arizona.

NHL is gone forever. Nobody is going to spend 1 billion on a new arena, and then hope the NHL awards a team. And the NHL isn’t going to award a team without an arena being built. Look what happened in KC and Quebec. Let’s face it… hockey didn’t work in Arizona. Not enough fans and unfriendly politics that make it impossible to develop

I personally blame the fans, media, and people like Larry for Alex Meruelo walking away from the Arizona Coyotes. You people never gave Alex Meruelo a chance. I say shame on ,you obviously don't have any class or morals.
