- Alax proves that if there's always something to speculate over. Today we talk about three possibilities for the next Smash Bros. game - will it be a reboot, a 3D fighter, or just a re-release of Smash Bros. Ultimate no please stop why

Honestly, I'd love a complete "subspace emissary 2" spinoff
Yeah that'd be cool
rather have a smash bros movie with plot than a half ass story mode
Great Maze as an entire mode on its own
Dude that makes sense
If the focus wasn't going to be on pvp I'd want different mechanics though, the way platforming and combat work can get pretty frustrating in doing actual platforming levels since they're tuned around pvp
I think the main issue with a "ultimate deluxe" is that it would be a licensing nightmare. Sakurai *barely* managed to get the base roster at launch, and now they'd have to renegotiate all the DLC characters on top of that. I'm not an expert on this stuff but I think that sort of thing is a bit easier to do when the third-party stuff is in its own DLC package
they could just not even call it ultimate deluxe. just say it’s a port of ultimate to the new console, not a new game. surely that wouldn’t be too tricky for their contracts, no?
@@jaybee27Dkinda depends on what's in the contracts
You know they can request the license for these characters for a set number of years, right?
@@jaybee27Deven just porting it i think theyd still have to renegotiate licenses. Idk how much trouble theyd have aside from square enix characters though everyone else seemed to be really on board with the project.
I think it would be easier for Sakurai to get the characters again, because of how amazing smash ultimate performed, it has sold more than 30 million copies. Smash 4 was a different story cause it was on a shit console, but now that the companies have seen how well smash sold on switch? They'll probably be more keen to be involved again, even if they were hesitant prior to ultimate's release.
Someone else might have mentioned this already, but a good example of what 3D Smash could look like is Kid Icarus Uprising's multiplayer mode. They actually manage to make a good multi-player platform fighter game. It's a shooter, but also has close combat. Not sure if Mr. Sakurai would be up to do it again, but it's how I realistically see it working best.
It does the heart good hearing others talk about the potential of a 3D Smash. (And a new artstyle, I'm thinking comic-esque with cel-shading)
The idea's been in the back of my head since I was 11 during that post Brawl / pre-SSB4 period, tho I've always pictured a game in the vein of Power Stone.
...Or Shrek SuperSlam.
@@tjh6678 I made a prototype of a 3D Smash game a while back and it could totally work! I'd love to see how Nintendo does it
@@tjh6678 there is a Steam game made by Hi-Rez called Divine Knock-Out which is basically like a 3D Smash Bros. The game itself is bad because it's very pay to win and also has some technical problem but if Nintendo would do a game similar to that it could turn out great.
glad im not the only one who got a similar vibes from that game. they even implement the whole forward/side/back attacks having unique properties from one another. if not a smash reboot id love to see it refined in a KI remake
But how does G&W transfer into a 3D smash?
I think option 3 would be the best. The movesets of the legacy characters are kind of unimaginative. A new moveset on 30-40 characters would be a breath of fresh air!
especially characters like Mario or Sonic
Samus definetely needs an upgrade 😂
@@pandora5051 Sonic? Yes. Mario? That's a trickier case...
So do what Killer Instinct 2013 did?
Ganondorf needs it more than anyone else. He's been bottom tier for 3 smash games. He's been the worst character for 2 of those.
I’ve always thought the next smash game should be a reboot with newly designed characters and I really hope that’s what it ends up being.
I’ll gladly take a game with like 20 characters if that meant each character had updated movesets and actual alternates instead of just color swaps
I have a feeling we've already gotten a glimpse of Smash Bros' future with the trend set by several of the later added characters. If you notice, most of them play closer to how they do in their own games, as opposed to being shoehorned into the rigid Smash Bros formula started with the first one on N64. For example, Ryu, Ken, Terry, and Kazuya play like actual fighting game characters would (auto-facing opponents, utilizing button combos etc.), The Inklings' move set revolves heavily around their unique ink-splattering mechanic, Steve places blocks just like in Minecraft, etc. A lot of them have unique mechanics that fly in the face of established Smash Bros convention to more closely match how they play in their own games.
This leads me to believe that the developers were already thinking of ways to change up the formula long before the conclusion of Ultimate. I think whatever form Smash Bros takes in the future, it'll have something to do with upending the established formula altogether to have each character play as close to how they play in their own games as possible. That way, they can start anew with fewer characters and the game still feel fresh, as I can't see them adding to Ultimate, the sheer amount of content in that game is already mind-boggling as it is, any more would just be too much.
I would love that. Characters like Ganondorf deserve more love and especially with TotK it'd be the perfect opportunity to fully redesign him.
Fewer characters, but designing them closer to their games would make it feel fresh again.
Okay but they could at least add a few more Sonic characters as well.
Knowing Nintendo, it'd probably be an SSB Deluxe. Though your idea of changing up the genre made me think of what if we got a Smash Bros that was fully just a platformer like the Subspace Emissary, but actually taking you through Nintendo-themed areas.
YESSS KINDA LIKE SUPER NINTENDO LAND MIXED WITH SMASH BROS
Considering how Iwata "menaced" Sakurai by sayig they were going to port Melee to Wii if there wasn't going to be a new game I would say the decision was taken a long time ago. SSBUD will be real, or not, because 3rd parties will make it painful, specially Square.
Sakurai:Best I can do is Fire Emblem themed base stages
@@albertthepeacock8020 Would love a SSB game with zero Fire Emblem.
I’d probably have that as it’s own thing
If there was ever a new smash bros with a unique artstyle, I’d absolutely adore it if they went for the style that Smash 64’s 2d art went with
Would be so cool if they went with a low poly style. Would also help more mature characters look right next to the goofier ones
What if it was pixel art like Rivals or SSF2?
@@TrueBruceTube Eh, we don't have enough handrawn games imo, I'd rather them do 2d art or use 3d models with shaders to mimic the effect at least
It would be really cool if they made the art style similar to that of the toon link series or borderlands. That art style is timeless
Art style is good already in my opinion
Just want a plot with voice acting. I need to see these guys properly interact with each other
Subspace 2
Leaks are gonna ruin it
I don't agree with you.
Visual way of story telling, is in my opinion, more interesting way of story telling, instead of classic Dialogue story telling. Especially when majority of your characters don't talk
That'd be amazing
"Wahoo!" "Hyah" "pikapika" "falcon punch" its like reading a clive cussler novel
Honestly, I feel like they're gonna reboot the franchise.
I'd actually like to see that, because the characters could now actually have a chance of having moves that represent the modern state of their franchises.
This: If it's not a port, it will most likely be a reboot.

Online:
1.- Rollback Netcode and an option to filter out low ping connections.
2.- Ranked mode with proper tournament rules (Best of 5, stage strikes, bans, etc.)
3.- Being able to choose Hazards Off legal stages for Quickplay.
4.- Squad Strike playable with anyone not just with friends.
5.- Random only Squad Strike.
5.- Good ruleset for Co-op Doubles (Team Attack ON, Hazards OFF Legal Stages, etc.)
6.- Allow friends to play Doubles with you on different consoles.
5.- Random only mode where both you and the opponent can only choose random.
6.- Double Elimination bracket best of 1 tournament mode.
7.- Filtered Spectate mode.
All these changes apply to Doubles too.
Changes to Battle Arenas:
a) Allow changing character/stage without having to go to the back of the line.
b) Anyone can spectate even if they join the arena after the match has started.
c) Allow multiple matches in the same arena.
d) Tourney mode in arenas.
Miscellanous changes:
* Stock mode becomes default
* Abolish Sudden Death for Timeouts, make it so the player with the lowest percent gets the victory screen, in case of a true tie the player with lowest percent at the moment of the tie wins, if they had the same percent and decimal, the player who dealt the most percent wins, if it’s still even the player who spent less time airborne wins.
* Increase taunt duration like in previous games
* Not having to pick character after every battle
* Saved favorite alternate costumes like in Smash 3DS
* More than 8 alts per character but not having to be a consistent number, some characters can have more than others, it’s fine
* Bring back C-Stick Menu rotation
* Hold A and B for salty runback, A, B and L for runback on a different stage.
I actually think a lot of your ideas are pretty good for the most part.
There are just so many ideas that honestly, who knows what they can do.

I really like the idea of a new art style. Brawl kinda did that by making everyone look dark and gritty. But it’d be cool to see it look like Mario strikers charged or a completely different theme. I love how streetfighter 4s theme looks or how MvC 3 looks. Doing something like that would really grab everyone’s attention and get old fans to comeback and have a new interesting experience.
My thought for a new Smash game would be, instead of a lot of companies lending a few characters, how about a few companies lending a lot of characters? Something along the lines of Project X Zone 2, but as a Smash game. That way it's still possible to have a big roster of varied and fan favourite characters (Especially if we take PXZ2 as precedent with Nintendo, Bandai Namco, Capcom and Sega), without the same amount of legal gymnastics that Ultimate managed to pull off.
would die for a nintendo vs capcom, especially if it’s a completely fresh take on nintendo characters in a fighting game.
and also i need more darkstalkers rep in something im DYING
Yeah, like, if I made a crossover (fan)game, I would make sequels with more characters from franchises that are already represented, then ones from entirely new universes.
Then again, most of my hyperfixations are cartoons/games that have way too many individual characters, so that’s probably just from my perspective.
I predict that it'll most likely be Future 1, but the game will actually be called *Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: Definitive Edition*
-Sakurai will be supervising the project, but will no longer be the lead. Someone new that Sakurai will appoint will be leading the project while also being obviously supervised from a distance by Sakurai.
- Will add the missing stages from Ultimate as well as compartmentalize them by the game they first appeared in (64, Melee, Brawl, Wii U, 3DS and Ultimate)
- Some characters will have overhauls in either design or moveset (For example, I think Ganondorf will take his ToTK appearance, I think Sonic will have a reworked moveset taking inspiration from Frontiers and Mania, etc.)
- Smash Run will return.
- Trophies are back (Most though will be recycled from Wii U)
-New Waves of DLC Fighters a la how MK8 Deluxe is doing it rn.
- New Echo Fighters (For example, Dixie Kong as an Echo for Diddy, Shadow for Sonic, etc.)
- (Hopefully) Better Online
- Performance and Graphics Enhancements
And also slightly change the physics so the game still feels new to play
all those things sound like wishful fan thinking, I don't believe a game like that will happen.
@unskilledgamer3642 Eh, for me, it's just fun to speculate. If I get it wrong, cool. If I get it right, cool. No harm, no foul.
I don't think you can give only Sonic a rework, I think he's far from the only character in need of one, like Samus or Ganon, who you mentioned. But honestly I think most of the legacy roster is only a couple special moves or reanimations from being good. Give DK a barrel cannon up b and make kong kopter into side b, and tweak his facial expressions to be less angry all the time and he will be good, for example
@saben.cspoon4106 I guess what I meant was some moves added from Frontiers or Mania. Perhaps the Drop Dash by holding Down and B after jumping and a Quick Cyloop as the new Side B? Maybe even changing some animations for his standard one-two hit combo to be more in line with Frontiers, idk- I can only speculate. I agree many more need some changes, Sonic was just the one that came to mind to me. Maybe that'd be more plausible. But yeah, agreed!
If they make another smash’s bros game. They better fix Sonic’s moveset because they have no excuse now lol
What do you mean? The fact half of his moves make him a ball?
I like it when he turns into a blue circle
Look at Sonic Frontiers. Sonic actually has moves in that game. The next game could mix some of his spins with kicks to hand a better move set.
Unless Sega themselves set those limitations
@@jinjer420 well sakurai played frontiers and liked it so well see
I really want a storymode. But a reboot would be nice.
storymode with less characters is way easier to do you know?
@@maxuwl I'm down with that!
This one felt so nostalgic of classic Alax, keep up the good work as always!
I like the ideas of the next Smash being focused on game modes more than characters. I'd love to see how far than can take game modes and how creative they can get. Imagine racing 40 other players in a target test to see who finishes theirs first, imagine 16 player smash, or a game mode like board the platforms with 8 players all racing ti the top of the stage. They could have team modes too, like king of the hill, where your team has to stay in the designated area of the map for linger than the other team, or a splatoon like game mode where your attacks cover the ground and you have to try control the most space when the timer runs out.
You could maybe have a Fall Guys esque online mode, where you cycle through a handful of different modes and games with players being eliminated each round, ending in a 1v1 match. Heck, I'd even take a live service aslong as it wasn't scummy with microtransactions, where they release new characters, skins and stages each season that you can earn through playing the game and completing missions online, or just using in-game currency.
Although make it easy to grind for, even let players grind locally or by doing things like Classic mode. And keep all characters and skins in the store permanently so you can buy whatever you want as soon as you save up, most games have the stupid store cycle system to create demand for the items and to try persuade players to spend IRL money to buy currency. Although wishful thinking, unfortunately theyd likely make it scummy like other live service games.
I just figured this way, even if the roster starts off much smaller (say 30/40 characters) you could slowly buimd the roster up more and more over time through seasonal updates.
The possibilities could be endless!!!
The mode-centric idea is really cool, but having it as a live service would _actually_ be awful. "Games as a service" is a PLAGUE upon the industry. Just let all of the content be in at launch or have extras in distinct optional DLCs so I don't have to pay for the game repeatedly.
@@syweb2 How would you pay for the game repeatedly?
They could also have a capture the flag sort of mode
A reboot with a focused story mode would be my favorite!
I'm personally on team Smash Reboot, but the base roster should be the Smash 64 roster as those I feel are forever mainstays in Smash at this point.
Not only would it be WAY too small for a modern game (*especially* coming off of Ultimate), just having the roster for Smash 64 would cut out mainstay characters. You can’t tell me that Marth, Zelda, Pit, or freaking BOWSER and PEACH won’t be in the next Smash game.
Sure, you can have the Smash 64 roster as the starting roster before you unlock the other characters-which Ultimate already does-but the game being limited to JUST those characters, even with plenty more being promised for the future, wouldn’t work.
@@sandjgaez257 "Sure, you can have the Smash 64 roster as the starting roster before you unlock the other characters"
That's what I meant by base roster, the original 12 are mainstays in Smash and should be the starting base roster, always. I think a reasonable size for a Smash reboot roster would be to have a Melee or Brawl sized roster again.
@Joakim Skjerpingstad I would like to see them add some characters that didn't quite make the cut also, like a waluigi or Eggman
@@ThatGuyLegend bandana waddle dee fans deserve a chance
@@StopSignButGreen I agree
I appreciate the amount of content you've put out lately Alax. Keep up the good work!
I think a reboot is very likely. I have been saying for a while now that I think the smash roster should be cut in half for the next game. There is just so many characters in Ultimate that feel like they didn't get enough love because the roster is so large. A smaller roster with a focus on well designed characters with more depth would do wonders for the game.
As long as the toaster from Hotel Mario is an item, and does critical damage in water, I'll be satisfied.

Gosh i love your videos Alax, i was so looking forward to watching this when i got home, your humor in your videos always brightens my day!!
What I want the most Is a new subspace esque story mode. With a reduced roster, it could be easier to implement instead of including like 100 characters. Also that DK minecart clip will be in every video till the end of time.

Mii fighters say hi
So glad that you're back

Hey Alax, I would recommend you to invest in a lavalier microphone for your on-camera sequences. The rode smart lav + is pretty good and you can use it with your smartphone or even better, with a dedicated recording device like the Zoom H1n. Hope that helps :D
I hope they give Daisy the Luigi-Echo-Treatment and make her more unique in the next game. Since Luigi got his own Side-B, Down-B, different Fireball and Up-B effect. Even if she would be low tier after that, I would play her!
Lets hope shes even gonna be in the next game
You & me both, brother or sister.
Most of the moves she borrowed from Peach, she's never done before or since.
The one I think needs it the most is Dark Samus, Metroid had to wait 4 games to get a tiny bit more representation and the franchise really could use some more characters
@@DrunkedOwly if anyone needs more representation, it’s Sonic. They could’ve easily added Shadow or Knuckles as Sonic’s echo fighter.
@@MarcusGronkowski I mean, you're right, but I want metroid rep more bgl

Alax your new style intros are free serotonin, please keep it up
My favorite idea that I forget if I came up with or stole was a mechanic somewhat similar to Fire Emblem support conversations, where you just pick two characters and they have a single casual conversation. Like the rest of the game probably doesn’t effect it much, but that kind of character interaction is something we couldn’t get from even the most ambitious story mode, even if some would be jokes (I.e. two Links)
I think there could be a casual 3D fighter, Power Stone did a pretty good job of that like 20 years ago
This is your first video I have seen and it's pretty good, the humor is pretty good
I don't think is has impossible has people imagine. What I would do is the following:
1-Have Sakurai in a supervising or overseeing role where he advises and keeps tags on the game instead of having him worked himself to death.
2-Raise the budget for Smash. Sakurai has been very cost efficient with Smash and he has kept a tight budget.
3-Drop all third parties and make sure every Nintendo character returns. "Every Nintendo Character is here"
4-Make sure the character roster is above 100.
5-Change move sets of all echoes to differentiate from based character like have Daisy use the slaps and throws from Peach in brawl.
6-Bring back the missing stages that were not in Ultimate.
7-Character variations example Samus, Fusion Samus, Classic Samus, Brawl Samus (with transformation for ZSS) and Dread Samus.
8-Revamp Stage creator by combining Brawls and ultimate stage creator and make a goal system for 1p challenges for shared contend.
9-Make your own Spirit matches for shared content.
10-New story mode.
11-Arcade adventure mode from melee.
12-If the game is a hit then proceed to negotiate with third parties to bring back third party characters.
13-Make Returning characters Pass, a Echoes Pass and a new Character Pass. And try to have a steady stream of characters releases for a full year.
Or just do a characters pass for ultimate after TotK launches.
This is a great idea seriously 👍
I have thought that the next Smash could be a reboot to the original N64 version but completely rework the character’s movesets and polish the visuals. You and I have a similar idea for future 3. Future 2 would be awesome, too!
It'd need more characters tho, a fighting game in 2023 with 8 characters would be laughable
@@DrunkedOwlyYeah that's not going to fly ahd understandably so
I would love if Kirby could use a different ability than final cutter when High Jump and Tornado are RIGHT THERE
Edit: also can mario throw turnips too? And the propeller mushroom is also *RIGHT THERE*
(Seriously there is one too many vertical power ups in Mario for him to have "super jump punch" as his recovery...)
Characters I want them to add to the next game:
Jeff (From earthbound, as a playable character and not an assist trophy) Bomberman
Waluigi (This one was obvious
Kumatora (From Mother 3)
Paper Mario (Maybe that would be an interesting fighter? Sorta like Mr Game & Watch)
Waddle Dee (From Kirby)
Minda and Skull Kid (From TLOZ, but as playable characters instead of assist trophies)
Kamek or Koopa Troopa (Also with a dry bones recolor for Koopa Troopa)
I ran out of ideas, but those are some characters that I'd like to see in the next game
Been loving the intros! Always go back to them after the video ends ^^
I'd be down for a Smash sequel that greatly emphasized customization of all types. Far deeper Mii creation, much more detailed stage maker, user generated Break the Targets/Board the Platforms, and the real major canvas; create your own Spirit Battles and World of Light Campaigns.
I like the idea of a soft reboot where, in general, everything feels and looks the same but with an all new roster. Existing franchises in smash get new characters to represent them and only the best stages carry over. Newer IPs in smash may carry over with the same character(s) representing them to provide some connection to ultimate as well as some recognizability while still keeping things new.
Sakurai started talking again about the series three days ago and he hinted about passing the torch. So it's possible that the next Smash Bros. will be a reboot.
Imagine a new Smash Run but in HD, with 1000 songs, new enemies to KO,
& Final fight having a chance for a Boss Battle. I really want them to bring back Smash Run. But there's no touch screen how you choose power-ups like Super Armor or Star Storm? Simple use the D-pad to select your power. Press ^ to to use power. Meaning that taunts are disabled during Smash Run. Not your using taunts during that mode anyway. Also similar idea was already done in Kid Icarus Uprising.
I honestly would love to see you do a sequel to your “What If The Next Smash Bros. Had 30 Fighters?” video where perhaps you explore the idea of other numbers like 40/50 (or if there was a square layout with 36/49 fighters instead), or even just to see whether your thoughts now are the same as they were back then
I think there's also a possibility for a rebooted roster with legacy versions of the characters included so people can still use their old mains and so on.
I think the Deluxe and the Reboot are both possible. The Switch 2 would probably want a newish smash game and just adding more to ultimate and polishing it up would be great. And a good reboot, cutting down the roster, fixing up the movesets, and adding more to the formula would be great much later down the line. Also Bandana Waddle Dee would be amazing i would explode.

In all honesty i would like to see a smash bros "movie" where everyone interacts with each other. But looking at all the ip's smash bros partnered up with , that movie would be HELLA expensive.
Do you mean like an actual _movie_ movie, or a game with a lot of cinematics? Because I think one would be _much_ worse than the other.
@@syweb2 ether one is fine as long as it fills my fanatic needs. almost like subspace
Imagine they make a Deluxe version of Ultimate and call it a day
I'd love that so they could probably work on DLC and extend the game.
these videos are always a treat
As someone who loves Smash but is in no way competitive, option 3 is what I've been hoping would happen for years. Getting the entire current roster back would be possible but also possibly more work then they want at this point. Trimming the cast down to Nintendo's core essentials (and no echoes) with a few offbeat additions and then completely reworking them from their previous incarnations could be loads of fun. And many of those characters have long been hampered by early design choices that kept being carried over out of some strange combo of tradition, laziness, and ease of development. Giving everyone a fresh start could breathe some new life into the series.
The thought of a reboot actually sounds pretty cool!
Please keep the DKC GBA voice clip gag going, it gets me everytime
havent seen a relaxalex vid in a long time, but im surprised, the humor is on point imo
A change of art style, taking out some of the trashy clone characters for new updated refined move sets on beloved characters with a subspace emissary 2 would be perfection
They set the expectations too high for the next game to not bring back a large majority of the roster. The only characters I see them cutting are the ones that they can’t gets the right back for.
I think a 3d smash fighter thats chaotic like shreks superslam. that game even had the equivlent of a metered final smash.
theres also Power stone. a mad grab to get gems while you bash your enemies in a square like arena. but even then it also had stages that morphed and is also super cool.
Kirby and the forgotten land would help for a base of a 3d smash game too, since it feels simple enough to play and that simplicity could be very handy for a bunch of characters. cause take the metaknight fight as slight insparation.
Wow i had this exact brainstorm with these exact ideas yesterday!
I had so darn much fun with Smash Run…
Not sure if that has anything to do with the video yet, but with you mentioning those modes at the beginning…
Honestly I think the third option would be best suited as a Smash 64 or Melee remake, since those two have small enough rosters to make each character have entirely unique movesets, plus it makes the pipe dream feel less unlikely
Hope its a reboot, id be sad to lose some of the newcomers in Ultimate but I really want some moveset overhauls
Character creation would be awesome for a new smash. If we could earn something from these battles to buy numerous accessories and clothing on a avatar we create would be really cool also! Connecting with who we are fighting with is another thing too, I would love to be able to have some type of conversation on the game to connect with others. With that we could also do mini games with friends and other online players similar to the story mode gameplay from ssbb? Getting to create a banner of you’re own where you’re health percentage stays.
Smash has Mii Fighters.
@@SeanWheeler100 I know, but in my opinion, it’s nothing exciting. I’m talking about a full on new character creation design that’s not half azz
@@aneudireyes1055 Maybe they can improve on the Mii Fighters? Maybe even add a Mii Mage and Mii Archer?
The wavedashing at the beginning killed me 😂
Smash bros., in my opinion, should go with a deluxe treatment for ultimate, first, and a reboot second. They need more characters that are highly requested, like Crash Bandicoot, Geno, and Tails, past and new stages would come back, game modes like break the targets (like in melee) and Smash Run, and so many things that Ultimate was lacking. I think the series might continue, but maybe not with Sakurai involved, as he’s basically done with the series at this point. I hope someone who knows Smash, or fighting games in general would be the director, such as Mr. Harada of Tekken fame. At this point, we don’t know where the series would go at this point. So let’s hope Smash continues to thrive, even after all this time.
I would love a reboot, with a 50 character roster and refine the roster to reflect newer games
Awesome vid as always
really appreciate the active camera movement in this video
I think it’s most likely we will return to less fighters but they will change the moveset to represent more current games, say give Mario something related to cappy and change his moves to a new modern ones
Honestly, while it’s probably not gonna happen, I love the idea of a completely reworked game with new moves and a new look. Also we NEED a new Subspace Emissary mode

You're fuckin' DELIVERIN', Alax! I really didn't expect it to appear this time
Option 1 would allow us to get the sentence. "If you count the echos as their own characters do you get more then 100 characters to play ass"
I feel like Ultimate Deluxe is the most likely, but a reboot would be the most exciting
The third option is definitely the best, especially if they do another story mode. Imagine Subspace Emissary but the cutscenes look like Guilty Gear
YES!!! Things like Subspace Emmissary and Smash fan-comics make me desperately want a Smash game with more story. Sure, we love these characters partially because of their abilities, but we love them for their personalities and interactions too.
Think of it like Survivor, Total Drama, Battle For Dream Island, etc.: who would form alliances with who, same-series or not? Who would be rivals or enemies? Would they work and live close together, or form their own territories of small or even rogue grounds? What kind of places would they go to, and for what reasons? THERE’S SO MUCH POTENTIAL FOR STORYTELLING IT HURTS
Bro, when he said, "I love soup" my CZcams started buffering and I thought that was part of the video.
I think the option you're missing is that the next Smash is... business as usual. There'd be some new gimmick, like the SSE, the two-console thing or the Everyone Is Here of it all, but not any of those, something new. There'd be some characters cut, probably a lot that have already been cut before like Pichu, Young Link, and the kind of chaff that's been accumulated since the last time there were any cuts at all like... well, Corrin for one. But most of the characters would return, not rebuilt from the ground up but adjusted, changed, updated, rebalanced etc. And there'd be a healthy portion of newcomers as well (every Smash has, through DLC and echoes, managed to add more newcomers than the prior Smash, with the total additions going from 12 to 14 to 18 to 21 to 24, even though Ultimate was very lacking in the newcomer department at launch due to the focus on returnees.) Like, in essence, it'd be... a whole new Smash game. Like the same was Smash 4 was, the same was Brawl was, the same way Melee was. Just like, another one. Kind of boring in comparison to a reimagining or infinite growth, but I think it's a very underestimated possibility.

Apparently, diagonal smash attacks were considered for Ultimate. And air smashes.
I actually made a prototype 3D Smash game (Called Super Super Smash Brothers), and made it so it plays like Powerstone, and with a bunch of polish made by actually good developers, there's a ton of potential there!
It was fun seeing Mario fight DK on a 3D replica of Hyrule Castle, being able to jump around the entire stage instead of just a 2D slice of it.
now im too hyped, i want future 3 soo hard!
I actually had a dream last year of smash being made as a 3d fighting game like Naruto Shippuden ultimate ninja storm or jump force. It was on a final destination platform and still had the knockout of Arena gameplay with the percentage
I really hope we get Ultimate Deluxe I love the roster but there's still some important people missing
7:39 why does only donkey Kong fade in lol
Many people say in a new Smash game, they want a lot of character's movesets updated, and I mostly agree.
Characters from 64, Melee, and even some from Brawl (SONIC), could use complete revamps to better reflect who they are now (Ganondorf, Kirby, and Donkey Kong to name a few prime examples).
I think most characters from Smash 4 and Ultimate (Greninja, Steve, and Villager, for example) don't need a moveset revamp and could go with maybe just having a special move or final smash change.
The echos should also be given more distinct movesets should they return (and they should, it's a good concept).
Shrek Superslam is the perfect example on what Future 2 could look like.
I loved the part where Alax said “it’s Alax-ing time!” I felt that.
You didn’t even watch the video!! He never said that!! -🤓
I think doing a pokken tournament and having it be smash tournament as just a spin off could work very well, pika chu and lucario already exist and could be easy fits for it and it could be a cool way to have third parties too. or go a route that alax didnt mention and do something like dissidia or hell a full rpg or something
That opening was awesome lol
Ngl I'm fine with the future one and three.
2 maybe.
A sequel idk how I'd feel about.
Honestly I would kinda hope they would Mix idea 1 and idea 3. But with some slight changes, Maybe Clones and unpopular characters to weed out some of the bigger series and spend that development time on reworking some of the older fighters to breathe in some fresh air.
2:33 bro he moaned
if you're going back to uploading every two weeks thats ok, we'll still be here whenever we have a new video, happy and ready to watch. Love you alax!
If it were my call, they'd go the Mario Kart DLC Wave route of, "Expecting a new game? Here's a bunch of new stuff in this game you thought was dead." And I don't mean a 20+ new playable characters with matching stages and Subspace Emissary 2; but if they just dropped in a new and improved online Smash Run and maybe, MAYBE a new character wave of heavily requested characters with a rework or two, and I'd be happy!
The 3rd option is honestly what I would want, maybe throw in a port of Ultimate so that everyone is happy.
Waiting for Alax to make a video on Pizza Tower
The Smash 6 Speculation Begins!!!
0:02 Shortest dash dance and wavedash I've ever seen, though that dash dance to pivot was pretty clean. D- tier.
