I got the chance the test drive a platinum last week. It's a good truck, I just wish there was a better rim and tire package for it to set it off. The price on the one I drove was 67K, over what I want to spend right now. I was offered 32K for my 2018 Tundra. As impressed as I was with the one I drove, I think I will wait for the 2023 models.
I agree. I love the look of the new tundra, but this is the first one ive seen where my brain was like "oh shit thats exactly what I want." I dont know how much it would cost..... I also really like the 2023 Toyota Sequoia.
@@mchapman2424 I think the sequoia front end looks better than the one on the tundra…Toyota should’ve went with that front end on both. And put a steel bumper on the truck. Just my opinion…but yes I agree. This combo truck looks awesome. Probably 65k
I had this exact truck on reserve awaiting delivery until a TRD Pro became available near me. So I took the TRD Pro instead (in Solar octane). This platinum is sweet though.
I like how this trim looks the most but you cannot get the trd offroad package on this. Which means no locking diff. And you can't get it without the sunroof
The front end just kills the truck for me. If I'm spending $70,000 on a vehicle it better be gorgeous all around. The new GMC Sierra...now that's a gorgeous truck. Hard to believe I am saying a Platinum Tundra is $70,000. Wow.
This truck is beautiful. The only thing I don’t like is the cheese grater as a grill. On all trim levels, the first thing I would do is color match the front chrome grill trim and the bottom of the bumper.
Love the chrome, hate the black out. What's the deal with any bright (chrome) trim on these? Virtually every review makes multiple mentions (generally against its use and would rather see more out of the molder black plastic). The real objection ought to be the constantly increasing prices.
@@SuperSnakePlissken I didn’t like them at first. But they’ve grown on me now. I really like this grill on this one also..but it doesn’t look as good as the new Silverado
Things I don't like on the new Tundra: 1. Black gloss on the tailgate. 2. Grill not body colored 3. Smaller interior than previous generation. 4. Auto stop standard 5. Overpriced 6. Wastegate issues 7. Poor gas mileage.
The toyota dealership in Topsham, maine has been sitting on a brand new Tundra for over a month. Selling like hot cakes my ass. That thing should have sold as it was rolling off the delivery truck but who the eff wants a v6 pickup?
@@brontoab1 the trucks that sit for any brand are 2wd….Ram & Ford have a lot full of new Pickups we’re down to our last one! 4wd Models are sold before arrival 🤙🏽

Some folks have trouble with evolving, they want everything to remain the same as they were in the 50s. I say get on board or get run over. And take the rabbit ears off your televisions, there are digital feeds now. 🤪
@@NavyChief1999 You are making good points that many people do not like changes, and/or do not appreciate the new technology. But I also think that many customers demand that the vehicles they own be more reliable. My issue with the new Tundra is a) it is a very ugly truck, b) it has a lot of reliability issues (which is not typical for Toyota and its customer base, and c) it is technically the newest truck, and yet it still falls behind the big 3 1/2 ton trucks in terms of features, fuel efficiency, ride comfort and etc. So my disappointment with the new Tundra is nothing to do with the fact that I am a dinosaur. I was in the market to buy a new truck last year, and to me it made more sense to go and buy the 21 Tundra over the new Tundra. It was $11k cheaper. I like how it looks and the V8 sound. I like the simplicity, and so far it is been a really reliable truck. It is build like a tank, the ride is comfortable, and yes it has a lot of shortcomings too, and the biggest - its dismal fuel economy.
@@bryanangelov I agree with most of what you are conveying. However, the big 3 will always rule in North America, they've been building trucks for a very long time and loyalty rules out, despite the fact their vehicle maintenance records stink too high heavens. I purchased a beautiful GMC truck for my military retirement vehicle and had nothing but trouble with it. The original transmissions failed with 46k on the odometer, A/C, and other issues, throughout ownership. The Truck looked great though. Basically what I am saying is they all have some issues, nothing is perfect about none of them. I can say my current Tundra has been fabulous, it may not look as good, but it works most of the time. ,👍🏻
Such a joke of a truck. Toyota should be embarrassed by this absurdly sub par truck..larger turning radius, worse visibility due to the sharper rake. Interior dimensions are noticeably smaller, the bed is narrower, so they managed to make the Truck Bigger but made it harder to manuer from small urban parking lots, to narrow trails. And gave us less usable space. These are all areas the truck went backwards. And this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the massive amounts of miss fires from small to big. And attention to detail is a zero and literally nothing innovative or creative. This truck barely competes against 2020 models. You would have to be a complete idiot to buy this truck
That’s one ugly truck. Maybe the worst tundra ever. The fact that there’s no step up when you put the tailgate down wax a major turn off as well. Good luck with those dual turbo chargers and 10 speed transmission
Toyota even stole the Platinum name tag from Ford. Tundra copy cat truck from the Ford Raptor with the Ecoboost engine. Unbelievable how Toyota copies the big three. Previous models are Chevy wanna be's with a hint of Ford and Dodge. Wimpy 1/2 ton with a 6cyl. Complete joke. Better off buying a 3/4 ton that Toyota doesn't even offer.
Lol. So true. Man Ram really pissed off Ford,GM and Toyota. All three said HELL… now we need to try and compete with Rams creativity. Then all three had to rush to try and compete. Toyota cheaper out on there design. Outside and inside. I think Ford is 2nd for interior, then GM. Cheers
This truck needs a 5-8k discount already
Why
Glad to see you're dealership isn't marking up over MSRP.
Looks great in that color, if I had money that’s the trim I’d get.
