That game with Frosty was really cool, great play analysis too. Thanks!

To be fair that match up is like 20-80 just some lucky breaks for sure against a good player.

More gameplay! And new channel name?

Rebranding...originally the channel was me and my experiences, but now I'm trying to get it less focused on that aspect and more just general old format content. Rebranding made sense with the change in purpose.

@thelostzonetcg This was a very informative video, and after watching it I would like to ask a few questions about this deck and Pokémon TCG strategy/etiquette in general.
First, I was expecting Torterra to be a slower deck, so I was very much surprised to see it take as much as a three prize lead early in the game. Are there any matchups where I should prioritize falling behind on prizes just to utilize Torterra Lv. X’s Poké-Power?
Second, I notice you barely seemed to stop to prize check when searching the deck early in the game, whereas later in one game you used two separate Celio solely for prize checking (and to keep them from clogging up your deck). I am nowhere near as fast a player as you are in this video, and I was wondering what the rule of thumb is for when you should prize check for card counts (as opposed to checking for one-off techs like PlusPower or Strength Charm).
Third, on a related note, I am becoming discouraged by how slow my pace of play is because of how much time it takes away from my opponent’s lives, but I still don’t feel confident enough in my ability to make sound plays in increments of ten seconds. It sometimes takes me thirty seconds to pick what to search off a card like Celio. What advice would you give someone hoping to improve their general pace of play?
    Hope you are doing well,
    Sincerely,
    Charmaster

I wouldn't say Torterras plan is to play from behind it just happens against some of the faster and more aggressive decks and it does really well at it. Against decks like Empoleon you simply can't otherwise they'll just Dual Splash you. The only match up where you need to try and fall behind is mirror. Other then that most times just play the game like normal in the early game, but as the game develops do start looking for those 2 prize turns to finish the game out.
It's just a bad habit of mine. I'm playing zero stake games and I might play 20 or 30 games a week. I don't really want to add 3-5 mins per game to do perfect prize checking at the start of the game. Typically I'll check the 1 of's like Torterra X and cards key to that particular match up. Higher stakes games or tournament prep and I would certainly do more.
I would get that line of thinking out of your head. Everybody is learning or new to something. If it really bothers you I'd just say it chat that your learning and it might take you a little longer. If it really bothers them then they can just leave.

@@thelostzonetcg Thanks for the reply. And thanks for making this video, by the way! Last night I wanted to reward myself for a long day of hard work with my first game of Pokémon in a couple of weeks, and I chose to play this list in a game of 2008 on TCGONE! I was playing against a Raichu MD/Zapdos SW deck, and I drew a dead opening hand (two Treecko, a Strength Charm and a bunch of Grass Energy), but my opponent was taking several turns to set up, so I was able to top-deck a Roseanne's Research, search out Chatot and a Turtwig, and get back in the game, which I eventually won. Thanks for sharing this list and others; I mentioned this in a comment under another video, but your videos have convinced me to try 2008 again.
      Hope you are doing well,
      Sincerely,
      Charmaster

How do you like the Flygon ex deck in 2008? That was my first competitive deck, but I played it mostly before Secret Wonders was released - do you think it can still work in the Gardy-centric format? Really awesome games - I appreciate the analytic side that you bring into these games :)

I think at the highest levels of play Gardevoir is not as strong as it once was. Empoleon beats it most of the time and Amphy/Bronzong is a hard match up. Flygon is good, but always feels slightly tier 2 to me. I'll cover my list for it in the future...maybe there is something that bring it up to a strong tier 1, but it's hard.

can you rematch jason klac or khanh le or chris ful 2008-2010 formats?
