I agree with the comments. Being taken back to 2004 worlds to consider the feelings surrounding the event was different and very satisfying. I still remember hearing about worlds as a kid and wishing I could go
Damn. Those World Championship decks are pretty hard to get nowadays. They're pretty good start to play retro formats.
Speaking about the deck, i love how this deck is pretty much "secret" or "rogue". This deck is the first World Championship deck i found in local hobby shop back in 2006, and i still regret that i didn't get it.That Zangoose is one of reason I tried to make Zangoose works in main Pokémon games. and while nowadays there are more consistent build of Magma, this list really have soft spot in me (along with LuxChomp of The Spirit, Happy Luck and MewTric)
Excellent coverage of the deck and insight into the year's event itself, including thoughts on why the deck panned out as it did based on what was happening within the metagame. Thank you, please continue to share as much as you can.
Yeah, sometimes, a simple straightforward deck is all you need. It's one of the reasons Mega Audino EX was so successful in 2016.
Probably your best video yet. Looking forward to the rest of the series
This was a good one, I am looking forward to other installments of this series, especially for the DPP formats. I like how you gave some consideration to the other age groups as well, because they get sidelines quite frequently. Tying it back to how the format is played today is also nice.
I love your videos, hope you come back some day
Man I miss the 2004 uploads 😢 Hope to see you back at it again soon!
Life has just been crazy the last few months. I love doing these videos and making content, but they are extremely time consuming and obviously I don't make money off of them. When I have more time to devote it will be easier. I have loved that people are still commenting and the channel is still growing
@@thelostzonetcg Completely understand, hope everything is well and hope to see more from you in the future! ☺️
Would love to see this series continue someday. A lot of great information I didn't know as someone who started in 2011
Really enjoyed hearing about the history and the lead up to Worlds 04. I know you are a big fan of the 4 copies of Steven and Copycat in 04 but I do believe from playing and building a few decks from the format that there are certain decks that don't require a full playset if each to perform consistently well. Shifty for instance would be one that comes to mind. While I understand that a playset of each could be put into any deck in the format and be good , I also think certain decks not only can get by with not having them, but also can capitalise on the extra space for other techs which can help them have a steadier footing in the meta. So in my opinion I wouldn't always think that all decks in the format need that 4 of each, it depends on the deck.
Well thought out response! To each their own...the 4-4 is always stable for me due to the inconsistencys in the format. Shiftry in particular likes the 4 Copycat and 4 Steven's due to the ability to match handsize especially with the Desert Shaman ruling! Once again jmo
@@thelostzonetcg I am interested to know, what is the Desert Shaman ruling you are referring to?
@@williamdeutreve3959 It's up to 4 cards and owner has to draw first. If your playing Shifty you draw 4 I can choose to draw 1-4 and make sure we don't match handsizes. At that point you have to use Delcatty/Magneton to get to the same hand size. Steven's/Copycat is just so much better for flexibility and consistency
Thanks for the video! The tidbits of history throughout were very interesting. I really liked hearing it. Would you consider doing a deck profile on Team Magma's Aggron even though it did not work? It would be interesting to see what people were trying out. If there are other decks in other years that did not work out I would like to hear about those as well.
yea i'd consider doing it for sure
can you do SP toolbox (ie Takuto 2009 Worlds)
I plan on doing a lot of these videos!
I love this series. I'd like you to do it with every Worlds winning lists
I plan on doing a lot of these!
What should someone add to the deck if they wanted to put it too the 2005 format I have those worlds decks and I was wondering what I could do to make it for that year 🤔
It's hard the deck didn't really lost anything heading into 05...more just every other deck gained more and you see a lot more power creep with cards like Scramble Energy, Pow, and even damage attacks like Circular Steps. I know this isn't a great answer, but from the games I've played I've never seen it brought into 05 very well.
