They are awesome in concert 😍. What's even more incredible is the band waited for him. He had a specialized drum set made for him so he could use his feet more. They don't even take the drums apart. It's on like a platform that they just move from city to cuty. If you ever get the chance to see them in concert, GO. You'll love it
Songs that you will definitely enjoy from them are Foolin' and Photograph. If you love his voice, DEFINITELY those two!!
Oh!! And Rock Of Ages!! The true classic!!
Def Leppard rock of ages live 1988 in the round🔥🔥
I always appreciated their loyalty. They didn't have to wait until their drummer could play again. But they did.
Massive respect to them for that.
There is a Def Leppard biopic - "Hysteria - the Def Leppard story" released in 2001 as a VH1 TV movie. Some inaccuracies...
It depicted the band from 1977 to 1987... starting w/ singer Joe Elliott meeting guitarist Pete Willis in Sheffield, England as teenagers. Rick 'Sav' Savage (bass) and Tony Kenning (drums) was the original band called Atomic Mass, but Joe Elliott had this imaginary band called 'Deaf Leopard' and they loved the name... Kenning changed the spelling to Def Leppard... then Steve Clark joined on guitar.
Rick Allen was 15 yrs old when he joined Def Leppard on drums after Kenning quit the band.
You gotta do "Rock of Ages" and "Love Bites" soon. You'll be blown away. Great reactions. New sub.
"Love Bites" is my favorite Def Leppard song!
One correction - Hysteria wasn't their "breakout" album, it was their comeback album. Many had forgotten about them, they took years to release it cuz of Rick's accident and recovery.
If you want a harder banger song on this album, start with the album's first track: "Women" (which is my fav song on this album with a lot of fire!)
Their older albums: High & Dry (my personal favorite) and Pyromania have a little harder edge to them with some serious hard rock bangers on those.
My personal favorites are "Mirror Mirror" and "Lady Strange".
*high five* Lady Strange is the shit. And SO damn fun to play on guitar.
Love to see anywho lists something other than Pour Some Sugar or Animal.
This is my favorite song of theirs! I got to see them last summer with Poison and Motley Crue and they were AMAZING! They sounded just like they did on the album 35 years ago!
I grew up in the 70s and 80s and boy do I miss them. Def leppard just takes me back to music blasting out of my brothers bedroom. Iron maiden, pink Floyd, led zeppelin! Such great great memories!! I'd go back to those times in a second!!!😪
Me too. I miss them too.
For some of their "harder" stuff - "Billy's Got a Gun," "Die Hard the Hunter," "Too Late For Love," and "Rocket." For their most popular ballad, "Love Bites" is really good. And one of their earliest videos "Me and My Wine" is a rocker and just a hoot to watch! 🙂❤🤘
I love all the songs you mentioned and I would add "Paper Sun" to your list of that harder edge stuff.
Don’t forget Rick only had one arm but ALSO TWO FEET & a phenomenal system to use them too! Magic!
Hysteria was the album after Rick's accident and losing his arm. Everything you would normally play on drums with your left, he plays with his left foot. An engineer and Rick designed a special foot pedal for Rick for that reason.
I grew up in the 80's and yes it was the best time for music. My favorites are Def Leppard and Bon Jovi but there were so many others.
'Hysteria' was not Def Leppard's big break... it was their biggest album. Their 4th record in 1987. It actually outsold Michael Jackson's 'Bad' album in the US and became their first hit record in Europe. It also was the end of an era for Def Leppard... founding guitarist Steve Clark passed away in 1991 after years of drug & alcohol abuse, and Def Leppard was never the same again.
Def Leppard debuted in 1980 w/ their first album 'On through the night'... it sold poorly in the UK, but got fanfare in the US.
In 1981, their 2nd album "High n' dry" was produced by AC/DC's producer Robert Mutt Lange (who would later produce Shania Twain and was married to her) ...MTV started playing their videos in 1982 and they had a hit single... the ballad - "Bringin' on the heartbreak"... and the album sold platinum in the US.
The band wanted a bigger hit record, but alcohol abuse was affecting guitarist Pete Willis and he was fired in 1982 as they recorded their 3rd album 'Pyromania'... Phil Collen (guitar) joined and completed the album. 'Pyromania' became a huge record in N. America, selling 10 million copies and had 3 major hit singles - 'Photograph'... "Foolin' " and 'Rock of ages'.
The recording of 'Hysteria' was delayed by Rick Allen's accident... production issues... and financial difficulties. It was finally finished in 1987 and it sold admirably in 1988 after the single 'Pour some sugar on me' became a huge single ... as Def Leppard toured into 1989.
After the death of guitarist Steve Clark in 1991, Def Leppard finally finished recording the album 'Adrenalize' in 1992 w/ Phil Collen (guitar) playing Steve Clark's parts. It sold 3 million copies, charted at #1.
If u want high energy Def Leppard songs, check out - 'Rocket'... 'Rock of ages'... 'Let it go'... 'Hello America' ... 'Photograph'... "Let's get rocked"...🤘🤘🔥🔥
I also love Def Leppard. I have seen them in concert many times! And yes, the 80's produced some of the best music.
This album was also released around the same time the CD player was evolving. This was my first ever CD not Vinyl Album. I graduated high school in 1989.
I think you would really enjoy “Let’s Get Rocked”. If you watch the official music video, they really focus in on some of Rick’s drumming, so you can see just how much he does with his feet. The video also is a totally 80’s theme. It’s from their Adrenalize album, which came after Hysteria, and is their first album without Steve (guitarist) who passed away. I would also go with “Love Bites” if you want to check out one of their ballads, it is the most popular one. 🙂
They are THEIR OWN Era!! 😂🥰♥️🎶
Joe Elliot once said the record companies got lucky because all 5 of them can actually sing great on their own. That’s why they sound so good harmonizing.
One more thing, they've got documentaries about everything they have been through and what life was like being a rock n roll band
You may not know this but the thunder god also paints his artwork is very impressive and the sales of paintings to the goes to the wounded warrior project.
If you're wanting more like Pour Some Sugar might try these Rocket, Let's Get Rocked, Rock Of Ages, Rock! Rock!, Armageddon It
You need to check out VH1 behind the music Def Leppard , it will tell you everything you need to know about them & then check out Def Leppard's song called We Belong . It's from 2015 & everyone in the band sings in that video .
This was huge in the 80’s. Good times, we use to go to a place called Wheels to rollarskate and meet guys…. It was awesome. Our hairspray killed the ozone layer! He already knew how to play drums, he lost his arm in a car accident. He was passing a car in his corvette and was thrown through his sunroof, he got tangled in his seatbelt at the same time and it ripped his arm off.
This is my personnal Lep favorite.. the harmonies between the guitars and the beat just make the perfect ambiance for a ballad. If you want the full exposure to the talents and compositions of the lads, you need to give Gods of War a listen.
The drums were programmed by mutt Lang with input from the band.
I wore out 2 Hysteria cassettes in high school. 11 grade memories
Rock of ages is my favorite! Armageddon it or rocket are bangers too.
One of The Beetles greatest work was their “White Album”. George Harrison’s song: While My Guitar Gently Weeps is one the most beautiful, and legendary Beetles song.
To really understand the meaning of a “Guitar Weeping”. Please react to Legendary:
Bob Seger - Main Street
Mutt Lange, producer and songwriter for Def Leppard, AC DC and several others, was married to Shania Twain. He wrote, co-wrote and produced successful songs for Shania in the 90’s. At the time, she was the best selling female singer.
In the 80s, every band had a ballad on their record. this was theirs
If you haven't already Listen to Love Bites the official video by Def Leppard they just really brings in their talent
I'm really appreciate a younger generation to a song that means so much to me keep them coming man 57 year old white man and I'm a fan we need more love in this world we're all human race no matter our color our age or a John ra of music it's all good thanks
I love 80s music. Such talent , such vibe.❤
You can't tell it by just listening to this song but in an interview the lead singer Joe Elliot said that this song has 11 different guitar cords in it . You need to get on CZcams & type in VH1 Behind the music Def Leppard & that will give you a bunch of information on Def Leppard . It's like a documentary on them .
They were considered Hard Rock back then, but definitely Glam as well. Love Def Leppard they hold a special place in my heart, The track Rocket from the album Hysteria is one of my favourites.... Hysteria was my go to love making album back then 😀. Yeah but great for driving as well , some ZZ Top was good too! 😎
My fave song of theirs. Just the tone of the instruments is all warmth.
My inclination is to call this particular song "pop". But I don't want the Def Leppard fans to beat me up.
This is my favorite DL song..I highly recommend just for you to see it.... It's from the same concert as the pour some sugar...it's 1988 in the round... great story behind the playing in the round... also highly recommend watching their VHS1 Behind The Music
Def Leppard took their inspiration from British glam rock, but they are not glam rock. Many people call them a metal or hair band, both of which terms they despise. One thing they always stress is that they are melodic. All their music has great harmonies. Joe Elliot's voice is now a little lower than it was in his youth but he and the band have worked with a vocal coach to maintain their great harmonies and vocals. IMHO, they are one of the best bands around, still rocking together after 45 years.
Yes and Thank You! For me, this is the very best of Def! The melody and the guitar crying.
So appreciative of your research.
Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen was violently attacked outside his hotel room in FL yesterday and had to be hospitalized. A woman who had tried to help him was also violently attacked by the same creep. Allen said he will be pressing charges. Let's hope the woman does too.
Generally it's so much slower than music today. Not a bad thing, it's just a totally different type of jam.
But those hooks are SO damn solid AF. Heavily instrumental, but still it can transport your mind.
'Photograph' was their first hit.
Rick Allen.
Check out Def Leppard - Gods of War and Def Leppard - Rocket
I love the perfect imperfections of the past😊
I still have the backstage pass and drumsticks from Rick Allen. For real! RIP Steamin Steve Clark on guitar. 🎸 🥁
Fave song of theirs! Iconic
"Gunter gleiben glauchen globen" 😄🤘
You should react to Def Leppard behind the music, it’s a documentary about the band and I think you’ll like it a lot🙌🏻🙌🏻
The 80s music grabs you and pulls you in
I've seen them twice in the round, this is still my favorite album. They were amazing. But Pyromania was the breakout. The bangers there were to die for, and it was special.
Rick Allen plays the drums with his left foot and the kick drum with his right foot. He uses an electronic drum kit. He uses digital or electronic foot pedals.
So...most people can't play drums with two good arms. Let the man do his thing without being a downer.
@@corybowman9583 I didn't mean to seem negative, I was simply making a comment! I think Rick Allen is a great drummer and I am glad he overcame what happened to him in 1984!
Check out photograph next !
If you noticed most 80s bands put a beautiful melody in the middle. Makes you want to hug your loved one and slow dance.
Check out some earlier Def Leppard
High And Dry (Saturday Night)
Too Late For Love
Seen them this year.awsome concert
You said it perfect
You NEED to check out Jeff Healey "See The Light" Night Music 1988 and "Look at Little Sister" Jeff Healey and Stevie Ray Vaughn did together. You Will Not Be Sorry!!!
Love this song. I highly recommend Animal next.
You gotta check out Love Bites! ❤
What you were expecting from "Hysteria" is I think what you actually get from "Pyromania". Also, as a quick warning, Def Leppard doesn't always use words in the way those words were meant to be used.😅 Armageddon It, anyone? Really geddon it?
❤❤

Watch Rock of Ages movie with Tom Cruise. Epic!!!!
Bio pict. VH1 Behind the music DEF LEPPARD
great reaction only your mic is messing up my speakers you may be too close to it
React to videos from Pyromania and you will see that Rick Allen had 2 arms at one time.
You need to listen to iron maiden if you love 80s metal.good starter song would be the trooper the live version you be blown away 💯👍
This is not glam metal. For glam metal check out early 70's Queen, David Bowie, Sweet. Glam was an extreme movement in the early 70's in England. You might be surprised. Glam rock is a style of rock music that developed in the United Kingdom in the early 1970s and was performed by musicians who wore outrageous costumes, makeup, and hairstyles, particularly platform shoes and glitter.[1] Glam artists drew on diverse sources across music and throwaway pop culture,[2] ranging from bubblegum pop and 1950s rock and roll to cabaret, science fiction, and complex art rock.[3][4] The flamboyant clothing and visual styles of performers were often camp or androgynous, and have been described as playing with other gender roles.
Here is a link to a true glam metal band that most likely will not be blocked and has a helluva bass player. This pre-dates your Def Leppard video by about 15 years. czcams.com/video/FK9YSri2xNQ/video.html
Have you listened to Guns and Roses?
foundation is the word?
I'm sorry you're not feeling well. Get outside and get some Vitamin D, take zinc, C and tons of water. You'll feel better in no time ~ from your other Grandma Mags.

Man!! You need a new mic!!
The 80’s were the best times. Was amazing to be there
When they were cutting this album, producer Mutt Lang, pushed the band hard to perform at a very high level. He said the songs needed to be sung in ways that challenged Elliot vocally, and he was convinced he couldn't sing near well enough to pull it off...and of course, now we know in hindsight how outstanding this album truly is. Point is that even at this level, insecurities and doubts still exist. I have a lot of respect for this group.
I seen them in concert before they were really popular. The b
Drummer had two arms. I admire hid attitude and drive. I am still a fan at the age of 60 ❤
