    I bought the 12pc kit from Detroit axle. I’m picking up some struts this Saturday and start on my 02 Ram. Do you know if the parts from Detroit axle come pre-greased or will I have to do it myself? If so, what do you recommend to purchase?

    • @s33therfan
      @s33therfan  Před 3 lety +1

      As a rule of thumb if any parts come with grease fittings I will add some grease (not a lot) because there is no guarantee it was greased factory. Some however may come sealed so there would be no need. Thanks for watching.

    • @s33therfan

      Here is a video on the control arm BUSHING replacement. If they look dry rotted or damaged , then I would replace them also. My thoughts on replacing the entire control arm , would be no unless it is rusted out. Also I would only replace with an OEM , and they are pricey. Thank you for your question.

    What do I do when the lower control arm bolt is free spinning I have just about everything else done

    • @s33therfan
      @s33therfan  Před 3 lety +1

      If the bolt is fully seated and spinning , then it is possibly stripped. ( unlikely but possible if rusted.) Could be that it is not started in straight , which they normally have an end thats smooth to help line it up. Sometimes I have had to remove other things in order to get that vertical bolt to align. Hope this helps.

    I want to attack this project, but I've heard stories on the coil springs that they can pop out and hurt if not kill someone. Can it pop out? Shouldn't tou have a jack under the lower arm?

    • @s33therfan
      @s33therfan  Před 2 lety

      That is a great question , and I will start off by saying exercising caution is always a great idea. In this case basically the shock part bolts through the middle of spring , this alone will prevent it from coming loose. The spring also is secured into the upper fram portion and the lower control arm. With the control arm dropped down there is basically little if no tension. Defintely take proper precautions , gloves safety glasses etc when working on these components. Thanks for the feedback.

    • @s33therfan
      @s33therfan  Před 4 lety

      I am particular with the kits I order . Usually detroit axle or am auto parts . I have always had zero issues with theirs. Really the control arm should fit unless it was made incorrectly , I believe they are the same from around 2002 2005 regardless of 2wd or 4wd . I seem to remember mine maybe being a tight fit but other than that I cannot think of anything else. Wish i could be more help , thank you for watching.

      Have a quick question, I replaced my lower and upper control arms and ball joints, I now have a very odd swaying action in the front end any time it rains. What could I have done wrong? Are my sway bar links bad?

    • @s33therfan
      @s33therfan  Před 3 lety

      The first I would want to make sure the alignment is good. Next I would check for any loose parts . The sway bar end links if bad may need replaced as well. Usually it seems they just make a popping noise over bumps etc. Wish I could be more help and thank you for watching.

    • @s33therfan
      @s33therfan  Před 3 lety

      It is recommended in order to prevent premature rubber bushing failure. It's not the end of the world if you don't but basically it keeps stress off of them while not in use driving etc. Another way you could go about it , is to tighten the upper control arm with the weight on the vehicle. This applies to the horizontal bushings whether upper or lower. Thanks for watching.
