    Excellent!!! Thank You!! Just shared this with my husband. He cut down a big pine about a decade ago, with Tree Climbing and a rope. lol He's crazy, came from being a Bering Sea Crabber for almost 20 years. I've got two other beetle killed pines on the property, and I want him to get them out of the way... Safely. He's precious to me!

    Gave me a lot to think about. I'm new to climbing but have been helping a buddy on the weekends who's an aborist. Ive been wanting to get off the ground and into trees SO BAD. I was depressed when i seen the only harnesses on amazon that didn't have bogus safety ratings or "fatal flaws" reviews were over $350. I work a 40hour a week job so it's hard to justify spending that much on something i'll only be using on the weekends. I have thought that if i like climbing add much as i think i do and can support my family doing it one day that i may quit my job and pursue being an arborist but that's way in the future.

      Hi there, glad it's helpful! We can help you find a reliable harness under $300. There are plenty in the $250-300 range which will are good, professional saddles. There are even some under $200 which won't be as full featured or nice, but can let you get to work.
      The Viking is a great harness for someone like yourself who wants to keep the price down, but wants to eventually do more, and it's well under $350.

I love it and want to do it safely and the right way, excellent vid and explanations, your company seems to be highly respected in the industry... kudos on setting the standard! Are full body harnesses or shoulder straps a thing in tree saddles? I've been at it a few years and have always had trouble with my saws pulling my saddle down and digging into my hips.

    • @WesSpurTreeEquipment
      @WesSpurTreeEquipment  Před 6 lety +2

      Certainly a thing! Many harnesses have top sections you can add on, and Petzl and Weaver make neck and shoulder straps for different uses.

    • @WesSpurTreeEquipment
      @WesSpurTreeEquipment  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi Hugo,
      We recommend a harness built specifically for tree work. Even if a construction harness has suitable connection points, it's not designed to support your body in the way a tree harness is.

    I’m new to rope walking instead of using a knee Center can you use just a foot ascender with that set up? Or even better yet can you use both of them with that set up?

    • @WesSpurTreeEquipment
      @WesSpurTreeEquipment  Před 2 měsíci

      You bet! At roughly 30:00 Dave does a little demo just on the foot ascender. A foot ascender combined with the knee ascender is probably the most efficient way to rope walk.

      +josh hsoj Hi Josh. What harness are you using, and what size? Some harnesses offer a great degree of customization and your issues may be due to it being not ideally configured yet. Otherwise, you may be looking at a sizing issue.

      While it's not a harness we carry, Dave might have some insight into sizing. You're always welcome to give us a call and ask for him! Given the bosun-esque seat, it seems most likely that it would be a waist-size issue and not leg related, however its hard to tell remotely.

    *Nice stand>>>**ur2.pl/923** so far. It's my first, so don't have a comparison. But, after 2 times trying it out and hunting in the woods I think I have it down. It's light, but I got the Sherpa game cart converter and its a breeze to haul a mile. Also getting the Mollie Straps for shoulders and waist. The harness works as it should: looks like quality seatbelt material. If your on the fence about getting either an open or a closed-get the closed. You can even use the bar to shoot your rifle from if you set the top section high and just stand hunt.*
