  • In your football journey from youth player to adult and how to become a pro, the role of extra training is absolutely a must.
Consistent practice in mastering the fundamentals lays a solid foundation for your future growth. What's really important to know is that you don’t become a pro once you sign your first contract. You are a pro already before that. A contract is just an extension of what you are. To become a pro, you have to be and act like one from an early age. It's not something you can decide one day; it grows with you from the very beginning, small habits, one step at a time.
For the young players, it's important to prioritize technique development over other aspects of training such as strength or agility because training techniques with the ball will naturally develop without the ball skills such as agility, coordination and strength.
You need to focus on things that matter the most at certain stages of your journey. When other players and go strength training you go and work on your first touch passing and receiving skills, if your friend goes to agility and speed training, you go out and dribble and do ball mastery moves changing direction in very fast tempo. Training with the ball is a slower process, but the window to learn skills with the ball is much smaller than the window for strength training. AND you will also gain without the ball skills while practicing with the ball.
As players progress to the professional level, the training regimen becomes more complicated. While technique remains important, professionals also focus on other physical skills and tactical understanding. This is totally fine as they have reached a certain level to play in the highest levels in their technique by this time. At the end of the day. Every professional level player has a very high level of passing, receiving, shooting and dribbling skills as well as 1v1 defending and attacking.
