1:28 - Poor Body Position (when receiving the ball)
2:12 - Playing With Your Head Down (keep glancing up)
2:53 - Standing Flat-Footed (not ready to react)
3:22 - Power Over Placement (shoot with accuracy, power comes later)
4:02 - Not Protecting Yourself (use arms to protect space, bend knees)
4:32 - Over-Dribbling (look to pass, ball will get taken away)
5:37 - Lack of Awareness (constantly look around when w/out ball)
5:53 - Letting the Ball Bounce (try to receive it before ball bounces)
6:27 - Not Knowing Teammates (know which teammates can do what)
7:12 - Not Cutting Across (change angles to make harder for defender)
7:55 - Not Moving to the Ball (when receiving pass/to prevent defender)
8:40 - Shooting Off Balance (get on balance first, or pass the ball)
9:27 - Unnecessary 1-2 pass (make sure the situation warrants it)
10:08 - Not Asking for the Ball (call for ball, look involved, move to get open)
10:52 - Ignoring Field Positions (ball speed/grass - uneven field affects ball)
11:33 - Keeping Players Onside (be aware of last defender, get behind)
12:02 - Ignoring Fitness (get in shape to play well during game)
12:34 - Stupid Fouls (be careful not to foul opponent near own goal)
13:31 - Shielding Ball Not Going Out (make sure ball is going out quickly)
14:18 - Stupid Red Flags (keep legs low, don’t jump w/ both feet, be calm)
15:03 - Not Taking a Touch (receive pass first, then shoot ball)
15:48 - Bad Throw-Ins (keep feet on ground, behind line, two hands, overhand)

    • @sebfox2194
      @sebfox2194 Před 6 měsíci

@@Kwioresma Not necessarily. If you're a good player who stands out in a high level amateur league, you can get scouted and still make it pro after age 12. A few of my friends were amatuers until they got scouted between the ages of 14-16. One played in the English Premier League, one played in the Irish Premier League, and another one played in League 2. Obviously you have a better chance if you're in a pro academy, but if you're dominating in a good amatuer league then you can work your way up to pro.

Some of these things don't work when playing with friends. Some of my friends are really wild players. If you try cutting across on high speed, they will get you with a complete leg sweep and you'll end up falling badly or even getting an injury. Some times I can't even head the ball because I know they are gonna go for a kick when the ball is at head height, so I just prefer saving my teeth at that time lol.

for the cutting across the defenders, my tip is that when your sure that u can run faster than them and your actually ahead of them because I tried it in a match and got destroyed because I thought I was ahead of the defender but in reality we were at the same level and when I cutted the ball ahead, I lost the ball

    • @sebfox2194

As a defender, I would love to see a video like this specifically on defensive mistakes. I can think of many off the top of my head.
    1) Not staying within the defensive triangle (triangle between goal, and two wing attackers). Too often you see defenders with a false sense that they should be at their "position", even as attackers have entirely shifted to one side, not realizing that their position (left, right, center) should always be relative to where the attackers are with respect to the goal.
    2) Not properly adjusting the distance to the covered player. The easiest rule of thumb is to imagine that from wherever to ball currently is on the field, if it were to be passed to the player you're covering, then the distance between you and that player should be about equal to the distance you can run in the time it takes for the ball to get to the player. If too far, they'll be able to get it too comfortably. If too close, they'll be able to make a break for it and catch you off guard.
    3) Staying in front of the covered player instead of between them and the goal (usually). Most of the time, the coverage position should be between the player and the goal (see above for distance rule) since that is the most dangerous and likely direction they'll want to go if they get the ball. Too often, beginners will try to stand between the ball and the player, hoping to intercept or block a pass to them, not realizing that the priority is to neutralize the player's options if they were to get the ball, rendering them useless. Covering the pass to them is only secondary and tends to apply only opportunistically, at the very end (near goal) or as a last resort (if they run too fast).
    4) Turning towards or passing to the center after recapturing the ball and being under pressure. As a defender who just recaptured the ball when there is still a lot of forward pressure (e.g., lots of attackers in the box), the center is the last place you ever want to consider going to or passing the ball to. Unless clearing it is the only option, you need to protect the ball, and turn towards the outside / wing and carry or pass it along that way. For beginners, I would say that easily 1/2 of goals can be avoided by just this rule alone.
    5) Rushing into the ball carrier instead of patiently boxing them out. This is the trickiest technique, especially mentally. You want to rush in and win the ball back, but you have to be patient. You have to gradually meet the player's momentum, otherwise, if you are charging in, they'll just side-step or break away, and you will just overshoot with no chance to get back in time.
    6) Getting drawn in by the ball carrier, piling up on them and thus leaving other attackers open. It's very common for beginner defenders to tend to pile up on the ball carrier, sometimes due to a lack of confidence on other defenders, but that often leaves other attackers open.
    7) Staying too far away from the ball carrier when covering them. Sort of the opposite of rushing in, many beginners will hesitate to get close to the ball carrier. You just have to get into their face, that's the job. Once you've matched their momentum, there isn't really a limit to how close you should get, and use your body to box them out.
    8) Leaning back and poking at the ball instead of leaning forward and using your body. Similarly, a lot of beginners will timidly try to poke at the ball with their feet to try to knock it away from the ball carrier. Other than tackles, which are literally sliding to poke the ball away, which are only a last resort, the most effective way to get the ball is to lean forward, step up to the player, restrict their movements with your body, and then take the ball. Leaning back and attempting to poke at it generally doesn't work, and often leads to embarrassing faints (side note: often the impressive dribbling compilation videos also show many mistakes of this kind by defenders).
    9) Swinging wildly at flying balls instead of stopping them with your body. Often in defense, passes or shots fly near you at awkward angles and heights. Too often, beginners attempt to swing at those using their feet, thinking they can clear the ball or even control it that way, which is rarely successful given the speed, angle and height of those shots. This is forgetting that the priority is to stop whatever this pass or shot is supposed to accomplish, and the safest way to do that, is to just put your body in the way of the ball. The more of your body you can put in the way of the ball, the better chance you have of stopping it.
Those are the major ones I can think of right now.

Apart from one comment, which is thankful for some very useful tips and all of them quite true to anyone who understands the game, other comments are mind-boggling to me. It's sad.

I have a problem. One of my friends suck at soccer when I'm dribbling he straight away jumps in to get the ball without going backwards he goes forward to tackle, there are not many players so when he dribbles he gets close to the defender and cuts the ball but the goes very far ahead and he is faster so he gets there first. Can you make a video on tips defend against those type of players and dribble past them. please he makes fun of me that I suck and makes rules that don't exist and says its the rules of the game but it isn't. And when do the same thing that he does he doesn't count it. Please I hope you find this message, make a video on tips to dribble past those guys and defend againts those guys.
