  • Visiting Den Røde Cottage (pronounced "roll" = red) a historic building from 1844 which has been a restaurant for a few decades now. The 8 course dinner can be ordered together with 8 glasses of wine which almost doubles the price of the dinner bringing it up to 2500 DKK (335 EUR) but it is highly recommended since the wine complements each dish greatly and the wisely chosen wine selection itself gives a nice overview of the diversity of the taste of wine.
Den Røde Cottage is a Michelin Guide restaurant and is located 10 minutes outside of Copenhagen in a town called Klampenborg.

the small size is more so you aren't so full you will puke by the 4th course. it's literally showing off as it's multiple tiny courses with much prep for it. also you should be able to hold your alcohol or know when to quit since you might be getting over 2 ounces of wine a course.

I’ve been inspired Aden! Tomorrow I’m going to take a road trip to this little hideaway about a mile from my chateau in L.A. I’m going with my iPhone ‘Mark 12’, and promise the proprietors of one Chateau du McDonalds a big tip if they let me film the making of a Royale with Cheese and a large potatoes a la grease…. Just having fun buddy; great video as always, which coincidentally, I’M LOVING IT!

For some reason, I frown on these type of cuisine. Why can’t food be a feast to the eyes and the stomach? What good is it to eat a $300 pretty looking meal when afterwards, you’ll be chowing down on a Big Mac because of hunger?

@@ILubBLOfficial But the whole meal is a tease. Yes, everything looks delicious (and probably is) but you get two bites and then you're done and it's on to the next course. And using oversized plates and bowls just accentuates the problem visually.
If I took a bite of something delicious, I'd want a half dozen more just to savor that great flavor.
Cut the number of courses back to something like 5 and have larger portions.

One thing worth to mention is that these meals take some time. And this gives your brain time to catch up with your stomach in terms of feeling full. If you ate all the dishes in 30-40 minutes (without wine and water) most people could still be hungry. But after a slow meal (remember, this is to enjoy the skills of the chefs and quality ingredients, not to stuff your face) with wine, not many are still hungry. And the price, well I am sure nobody will run after you claiming that you have to leave a 20-25% tip. In Scandinavia salaries, high quality produce, taxes and other fees are fairly high compared to other countries. So is the standard of living…

Great photography. Amazing close-ups of the food. Sound of the cooking is nice too.
However, it would be much more enjoyable to actually know what is in each course and not have to guess.
But this type of meal is not for me anyway, for several reasons.
For starters, I would hate to really love a particular course but have to settle for only 3 bites of it. Also, while the wine, I'm sure, has a very pleasant aroma and flavor notes from the particular grapes used and from the regional soil where they were grown, the overiding medicinal taste of alcohol would obliterate the flavor of the food for me. And 8 wine servings of that size would have me too loopy to appreciate the whole experience.
But the biggest reason I could not enjoy this meal is the fact that I absolutely cannot stand waste. To know this much good food and ingredients were wasted to provide me this experience would turn my stomach. I was raised to never waste food.
Also, meals should involve family. Not just me sitting there being pampered like a king.
