-Our Intro Song "Feel the Love" From Alex's band
open.spotify.com/album/4Dao8y... - Krátké a kreslené filmy
A song that relates well to today's music, even though it was a slam against the disco scene back in the day. Also by the mid to late 70s there was a swelling backlash against the excesses of the many tangents that Rock had gone taken and to some extent those excesses only became worse during the 80s.
‘Corporate rock’
Boring and targeted music, yet I feel nostalgic when listening to it.
Every generation has their music hated by people who are 20 or more years older than them. It makes no sense whether we are talking about the 1920s, 1950s, the disco-dominated mid-to-late 70s, or today. Great music is made all the time. It always was, and always will be. Don't be that guy.
Tom Cruise coming out in his tightly whitey's
Everyone is entitled to an opinion.
I hear that all the time about the music I loved, 70s Yes and ELO ect........ Its all a matter of what you love. Punk killed everything I loved about music.
This is great and really made the movie “Risky Business” to me, but my favorite of Bob’s is “Katmandu.”
hollywood nights was good too
@@happywebster7151
Katmandu is dope.
@@gregrambo606 agreed.
I wish it wasn’t in Risky Bus. I see Tom Cruise dancing in his tighty whities.
Me too
All I can say is "Tom Cruise..Risky Business" ... ICONIC 🕺📽
"Today's music ain't got the same soul. I like that old time Rock n Roll." True story.
There's a reason why Seger is a legend.
This will forever remind me of Risky Business
"Roll Me Away" is probably my favorite song of his. Talk about a guy who knows how to tell a story through his lyrics. Close your eyes and take a trip with this song.
That is also me fav Seger song. So glad he played it on his farewell tour.
@@markrobertdevison1227 Wait, he's done touring?? I saw him in 10th grade with my dad, unforgettable performance, one of the true greats of rock and roll🎸🤘🏼
@@onemanswrld405 I saw his farewell tour, but when Alto Reed died, on Dec 20th, 2020, Bob said that really ended his touring for good.
@@markrobertdevison1227 Damn, I didn't even hear that he died😭 one of the best rock and roll sax players ever!
@@onemanswrld405 I agree and he died way too young. Saw Seger four times, should have went to more shows of his.
Y'all gotta remember, there was DEFINITELY a rock vs. disco sentiment back then . . . SERIOUS!!!!
Little late on this reply but hey! I was stationed in Germany when disco had just started. I went over to the battalion, where all the men were housed (separate barracks back then), into the common room. Some new guy had just come in and came down with a disco album and put it on the stereo. Dead winter, I mean cold out. The guys picked the newbie up, took him up to the main door and tossed him out in the snow and threw his record on top of him, one being a country music fan. Then they locked him out. He wound up staying with a new guy in another battalion he shipped in with. He couldn't get back into the barracks until the next day.
One thing you can always take to the bank is that Bob Seger NEVER disappoints!
You really need to put "Her Strut", "Like a Rock" , "Fire Lake" and "Roll Me Away" in the queue (sorry "docket" sounds to much like a courtroom 😊)
"The Fire Down Below," "Katmandu," "Going Back to Birmingham," "Shame on the Moon," and "Shakedown" are bangers too, can't forget them
@@kevincovert9881 The Eagles harmonies on "Fire Lake" are just incredible and unmistakably The Eagles
I forget about so many songs! Maybe becuz I didn't have Seger albums. Her Strut is another fantastic song with its own unique sound.
@@Manageode my theme song then and even now at my age....😂😂
I ask reaction channels to check out Her Strut, Fire Down Below and Sunspot Baby every time they do a Seger song. Haven't seen them yet.
Who doesn’t love Bob Seger?! One of the best ever. And you’re right, his voice is one of the best in rock.
My 93-year-old mother passed away on March 30 this year, 2023
This was her favorite song
And she lied they’re dying she wanted to hear it
Bob Seger’s vocals are everything. He could kill it in big arenas and dive bars with ease. He has tremendous control of his tone and expression, and he always sings to the suit the song.
Main Street, Night Moves, Old Time Rock n Roll, Turn the Page, Hollywood Nights….
All iconically Bob Seger, all tremendously varied in tone and texture.
The Silver Bullet Band was so good they deserved to back up Bob.
yes and he did. dive bars didn't pay we but it's where he cut his teeth. dive bars in Ann Arbor are a gas, but dive bars in Detroit, next level
A & A, his "Rock And Roll Never Forgets" and "Katmandu" are next for you!!!! BANGERS!! edit - this song has Alto Reed - saxophone, Howie McDonald - guitar solo, Ken Bell - guitar, Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section..
Great selections!! With Seger, even the "not his greatest hits" are still fantastic!
Also, "Betty Lou's Getting Out Tonight"
I find it hard to believe they've never heard this considering it's been in probably 100 different forms of media, tv , movies , commercials the last 40 years.
YES! Kathmandu!
Agreed. Live Kathmandu and studio version of R & R Never Forgets.
"Feel Like A Number" is one of Seger's best songs, it got heavy airplay back in the day. Everyone can relate to this song.
Pretty sure every song Bob Seger put out was a hit!!! Timeless, baby! 😍🤩
"Feel like a number" is a great Bob Seger song 👍👍
“We”ve.Got Tonight” My favorite hard singin slow song. He uses his classic grit to kill this one.
Still waiting for you guys to get to "Fire Lake". It only features backup vocals by three guys in a band called The Eagles.
BOB SEGER also background vocals in EAGLES songs ! , for Example ( Heartache tonight) SEGER actually wrote the Lyric there's gonna be a Heartache tonight! . Glenn Frey played music together in garages in Detroit when they were teenagers, they were best friends, check out Glenn's song by BOB Seger a memorial Tribute to is best friend Glenn Frey ❤ ! .
I see what you did there..😁lol
In my many years, this is the only song that got my mother up to dance. She loved just this song, but just this one, lol.
Miss you Mom.
"Main Street" is a must listen IMO. 70s Seger was the pinnacle band in Michigan and Southern Ontario.
100%👍 So many requests for other tunes that aren't bad but will not get these boys excited about.. as "Mainstreet" would.
Absolutely agree…Mainstreet has to be the next Bob Seger pick.
No doubt about it.
Main Street is my favorite by Seger. It’s got the night moves nostalgia. But it’s my favorite and I love me some Bob Seger and a lot of his songs.
If you watched Risky Business you definitely heard this song.
Tom Cruise dancing in his underwear in that movie to this song made him a superstar.
Adore that flick! And that scene! Hehe
As you get older, no song hits home more than his, Like a Rock....
I agree..my favorite❤️
@@sherrelwilson7354 Also, maybe the greatest truck commercial song in history....🙂
Agree, one of the best Rock and Roll singers all time.
I'm in my mid-60's and when younger played this tune in every band I was in - it was absolutely THE go-to song when you wanted the dance floor full - by the time the piano intro finished the 2nd measure everyone was out of their seats - just pure epic!
“Mainstreet” is probably my favorite song by Bob Segar! Great guitar and storytelling! I’m sure you guys would love it!
Seger not Segar!
Turn the page, mainstreet, you'll accompany me and against the wind. Just 4 of his best songs!
The lyrics to this song is my "Mission Statement" about music.......PERIOD! God bless Bob Seager.
Guys, no need to dig into Bob Seger deep cuts just yet. You’ve still got plenty of hits to go, like “Mainstreet,” “Still the Same,” “We’ve Got Tonight,” “Fire Lake,” “You’ll Accompany Me,” “The Fire Down Below,” “Shame on the Moon.” Many are also available on his second live album, Nine Tonight, which might be even better than his first.
And Like a Rock
Nine tonight is the best live album ever by anyone.
Never play Fire Lake. It’s a weird clunker. Miles from his best. Rock n Roll Never Forgets, Brave Strangers (from Nine Tonight Live)
Also the best version of Old Time Rock is from Nine Tonight.
This fills a dance floor in Georgia in a heartbeat with beers a flying and a big, "Hell yeah!" (Try the live versions of "Kathmandu" or "Nutbush City Limits. " )
Live Bullet album on Patreon.
The whole Live Bullet album is great.
Kathmandu!!
Like a Rock, Hollywood Nights, Understanding , Til it Shines, Feel Like a Number, We've Got Tonight, great tunes. One of the best singer songwriters ever.
I saw Bob Seger at a smallish outdoor venue back in the 80's. The Against the Wind tour. Everyone was dancing. Bikers, seniors, teens..everyone. For a long time it was the best, most iconic concert I had ever seen. Then I saw Johnny Cash and then Prince. Bob will always hold up as a true talent and gets my lifetime bronze medal for a live performance.
Great Bob Seger song. Check out the 80’s movie Risky Business. One of the most Iconic movie scenes involves this song. Hint your girl friends will love it. Next check out Seger’s Fire Down Below. It is a Solid A+ banger!
Fire Sown Below, yes!
Tom Cruise in Briefs will Always get a Girl's Attention. LOL LOL🤣🤣
True. I mean, it's Tom Cruise but the movie transcends that.
This is one of those tunes that got everyone on the dance floor, hell of a banger!
I should've scrolled down a bit before making my comment. Yes Sir - you are 100% spot on.
"Mainstreet" and "Like a Rock" are great ballad hits by Bob too. Try them out someday
I can’t listen to Like a Rock without thinking of a Chevy Commercial. Sorry.
Too bad Like a Rock got used in advertising cars because that kind of ruined the song for me.
I don't remember "Like a Rock", but I'll second the "Mainstreet" recommendation.
Saw this man 7 times, & each time was better than the time before ! Love this guy.
Have you guys done “Still the Same” or “Rock & Roll Never Forgets”? Some of my favorite Seger cuts.
definitely Rock & Roll Never Forgets!
Also.....KATMANDU......nobody seems to react to that one.
I love “Still the Same” - yes!!! 👏🏻👏🏻
I saw him first in 1978, and then again in 2019. Both shows rocked! RIP Alto Reed 🎷
The Muscle Shoals sound is the best! The Swampers AND the Tower of Power horns. You all need to do a special dive into this story - DOZENS of famous artists recorded some of their greatest songs there - Bob Dylan, Percy Sledge, Bob Seger, Paul Simon, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Rolling Stones, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, The Band, Led Zeppelin, Otis Redding, Jimmy Cliff, The Staple Singers, Santana, Clapton, Boz Scaggs, Allman Brothers, Glen Frey, Jimmy Buffett, Joe Cocker, Jerry Lee Lewis, Linda Rondstadt, Rod Stewart, and more... Just incredible. And thats not counting the country music stars!
Best live concert EVER!!! Seen him 6 times, first time in 1982, my all time Favorite artist 😍❤
This is S tier all the way. I have been playing in bar bands since 1976 & any time - anywhere we whipped this tune out the dance floor was packed beyond packed & it also got us one of the best applauses of the night. You guys have got to check out "Rock n` Roll Never Forgets" or for sure "Turn the Page". Really great show guys.
This is one of those songs that always fills the dance floor. A fun, happy song! Lots of memories of fun on the dance floor. ✌️❤️
my cousin was back up drummer for Bob back in b the 70's. played at our high school! Detroit G O A T. 🔥🙌🏻
Cannot possibly have rock ‘n roll without the sax and the percussion? Perfectly on point! Yeah, Bob Seger always on my playlist!
It's reaction time with Andy & Alex! Yay! 😻
Awesome Monday song!
@@Shadowrider1872 Yuppity! 😸
Oh, my, you've never seen Risky Business.
Andy and Alex are cavemen. They were born in a cave. They currently live in a cave, and they will die in a cave!🤣
This was recorded at the famous Muscle Shoals Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. I heard that they wanted to record individual instruments separately, but it wasn't working for some reason, so they recorded this with all the players recording at the same time as if it was a live track.
That makes sense because "The Silver Bullet Band" is exceptionally good live.
@@jamesjrdollenmeyer8301 well, you might be surprised to know that the Silver Bullet band didn't play on that recording. It was the studio musicians from Muscle Shoals that played on it. czcams.com/video/1RbI93mmBKs/video.html
Real musicians playing real musical instruments can't be beat.
George Jackson was a songwriter for Muscle Shoals. He wrote this song and the Swampers made a demo for Bob, who often recorded in Muscle Shoals. He tried the song with his band and was not satisfied. One day at the studio a teenager and his mom and dad stopped by to visit the studio. The kid had his guitar and wanted to play. The owners were about to show him the door, but to humor him they let him play along with the demo. The owners liked it, Bob Seger liked it, so what was finally released was the original demo performed by the Swampers, and this boy. I believe his name was Howie McDonald. When the song went big, he tried to get studio work with little success. I think for many years he toured around with some musicians in an effort to parlay his "fame" from having played on a monster hit record.
This song has the best use of cowbell that I've ever heard. A lot of songs have cowbell in the mix, but this is almost a cowbell solo, and it is what is needed there.
Bob Seger is a great rock singer, songwriter & musician known for his raspy powerful voice. He wrote & recorded songs that dealt with love, women & blue-collar themes. He had so many great songs especially in the 70's-80's such as "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man", "Night Moves", "Turn The Page", "Mainstreet", "Still The Same", "Hollywood Nights", "Against The Wind", "You'll Accomp'ny Me", "Shame On The Moon", "Roll Me Away", "Like A Rock", "Shakedown", "We've Got Tonight" etc.
And Trying to Live My Life Without You!
6:30 Andy's developed the ability to tell in the first five seconds whether a song is "quintessential"-- that's a finely tuned critical palate right there.
“Just take those old records off the shelf..” PAUSE, enough said! 🙌🏻🔥
@@andyandalex Hilarious. This song DOES come storming out of the gate.
Between '76 & '86 I saw Seger 6 times. THIS was his closing encore song, every time. In concert, there was no one better--------ever ! -=----------MJL, 77 y/o
Saw Bob Seger live in 79
What a concert!!!!!
Really Great live…😎🤘
You’ve seriously never heard this song before??? How is that possible? Lol
Today, when you only listen to what you choose for yourself on Spotify or what is chosen for you based on an algorithm vs. hearing what is played randomly on the radio that you have no control over, you have no idea what you may be missing.
Definitely Katmandu! The first time I saw him in concert he was the warmup act. Try following him on stage! Few bands could accomplish that. Unfortunately, that night was not the case.
You are right about dancing to this song. Whatever dance or bar or BBQ that you were at, if this song started playing EVERYONE was dancing!!
I saw Bob Seger at least six times back in the 80s !!!
Thankyou for hitting Seger again. This song was in "Risky Business", starring a very young Tom Cruise. A famous scene where he's rocking out to this tune in his tightie whities. And Bob always brings it. Other songs to check out are "Against The Wind", "Travellin' Man/ Beautiful Loser", "Still The Same", and "Feel Like A Number". He's so soulful. Excellent live.
Awesome song suggestions!
Love this song! And I'm first!
I feel that way about today's music compared to what I grew up with in the 70s and 80s!
Just an FYI guys, a saxophone is not a horn. It's considered a woodwind instrument as it uses a reed in the mouthpiece to play.
Betty Lou's Gettin' Out Tonight is another banger by Seger. 👍🤘✌️
"rock and roll never forgets" ,"Katmandu","sunspot baby" ,"come to papa", " her strut" and" fire down below" are a few rockers by Bob ✌️
And "Long Twin Silver Line"!
Nice! I forgot about Sunspot Baby.
I looked in Miami, I looked in Negril.
I don't believe you've reacted to "The Fire Down Below" yet. That probably should be next. Also "Her Strut", "Come to Papa" and a hundred others
At some point you need to check out his very early, acid rock period.
He has some amazing early stuff you'll never hear on the radio. Total bangers...
Oh yeah... East Side Story, Vagarant Winter, Heavy Music (part 1 & 2), Persecution Smith, Chain Smokin'
I saw Bob Seger’s show at Madison Square Garden a few years ago. The J Geils Band was the opening act. It was one of the best concerts I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen a lot! It was amazing, high energy, on point and super fun!
Nothing better than spending the evening with 16,000 of your closest friends and Bob, the band and the greatest music ever! The nights before tickets went on sale when we were all waiting in line were memorable as well.
My 1st favorite song. Apparently when I was a toddler and still learning to walk, I'd crawl over to the coffee table, pull myself up to standing and bop up n down to this song.
"Mainstreet" and "Shame on The Moon" need a listen. Thanks, guys.
Mainatreet has the tastiest guitar.
Bob Seger is a brilliant songwriter: 'We've Got Tonight' shows he can compose a classic ballad that stands with the best of them. Plenty of great songs in this man's catalog.
How could you have gotten through life without hearing this song?
I think you've still missed some of his classics like "We've Got Tonight", "Like a Rock" and "You'll Accompany Me".
For a totally different sound from Bob Seger that’s every bit as sauce-filled as this check out “Mainstreet.”
Also, Fire Down Below. What’s up my Discord A&A friend!
Hey@@bradlandis7! Happy Monday!
@@allisonreed7682 , you too.
1978, junior in high school.....shooting pool, $1.00 pitchers, GREAT MUSIC..... LIFE WAS SOOOO FUN!
I am very fortunate to have attended many shows and concerts throughout the years, of the greats and most iconic artists. Without a doubt, one of the BEST concerts we ever attended, easily in the top tier, is Bob Seger. The show was so much fun! We left the venue on such a high, and strictly from the energy and music, this time, lol. The music was non-stop. The musicianship was incredible. The song repertoire was mind-numbing...one song bigger and better than the last one. What more can one ask for? I'm sorry he's no longer touring. Wish we could've seen him one more time.
This is definitely fun but I appreciate Bob the most when his lyrics are deeply introspective (not that he's ever too far from that).
I always thought this was a throw away track. Derivative AF.
@@hampyonce It was a formulaic "radio hit"!
@@MissAstorDancer when it first came out it wasn't formulaic. It was a direct swipe at the disco movement, and everything that came after because formulaic. This is one of the pieces that created the formula. Having said all that, Rock and Roll Never Forgets from Night Moves is twice the song this one is.
@@richrogers299 Thanks for your comments!
And, by the way, I was not using "formulaic" like it's a bad thing, because great Pop/Rock songs definitely all have a formula of some sort for their hits. But that doesn't take away from the value of a great song, when it comes to the greatest Pop songs.
Blah, blah, blah! Just my opinion!😉
Absolutely a huge Bob Seger fan.
For a change, check out his song “Blame it on the Moon”, one of my all time favourites.
Also, I would love to see your reaction to Gerry Rafferty’s “Get it Right Next Time”.
It just was not a dance without dancing to Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band and this song. Best ever.

at 64 years old I have always considered Bob Seger one of the best rock and roll singer ever
Thanks for making this song feel fresh again. It's one of those I never cared to hear again due to it being overplayed. But, one of your movies of the month should be "Risky Business", which helped to propel this song to super popularity in the early '80's.
The reason the first part of the song is so well known and used in so many movies is because of the movie Risky Business (with Tom Cruise). There’s a really, really famous scene, he dances to the whole song. After that, whenever a movie plays the song they’re referencing that specific scene.
(don’t know if this has already been said but I’m not reading 400 comments to find out)
You know you’re getting old when you can actually appreciate this song
This is an S-tier song because you can dance to it, listen to it on a road-trip, at a party, or on the porch sipping whiskey. Young or old, you’re grooving to this, no matter who or where you are.
He did a lot of great jammers. I don't recall which of his songs you've done, but Rock and Roll Never Forgets is another anthem similar to this one. My favorite more serious Bob Seger tunes are Night Moves, which I know you've done, and Against the Wind.
Dudes, you gotta' put "Main Street" and "The Famous Final Scene" in the review queue! They're hands-down my favorite Seger songs. TFFS has the best opening song line ever written.
“Rock ‘n Roll Never Forgets.”
I’m from Detroit originally and Seger is the soundtrack of my life! Loves Seger!
I haven't seen anyone mention "Get Out of Denver." Maybe it's a lesser known one, but it's great. Also check out "Nutbush City Limits" (and Tina's original version)!
Get out of denver is off the charts good
@@kenkonwick6660 "Get Out of Denver" is the second-best homage to Chuck Berry's "Too Much Monkey Business" (after Dylan's "Subterranean Homesick Blues") that there is ... and that's a compliment, not an insult. The secret sauce Seger used is that he mixed a little "You Can't Catch Me" in with his "Too Much Monkey Business".
One of the great things about Seger is that he's never been afraid to wear his influences on his sleeve. He even did so overtly in "Rock and Roll Never Forgets" with his line, "All Chuck's children are out there playing his licks." Of course they were, but only Seger had the cojones to own up to it in his lyrics. Neither the Beatles nor the Stones -- two bands that consisted of serious Chuck Berry acolytes, and both of which covered multiple Berry songs -- ever gave a lyrical shout-out to Chuck (even though Lennon quoted him in "Come Together").
And that's why "Old-Time Rock and Roll" feels legit -- the lyrics to that song were practically Seger's credo.
@@gregsager2062 agreed
Denver is on my driving playlist.
Have you ever heard a song that you loved so much and heard so often, that you began to hate it.....just a little? I love Bob Seger, but this is one of those songs that got soooooooooooooooooo much airplay (and still does) that I just get a little tired of hearing it sometimes. Ok, now that I got that off my chest, good reaction guys! :)
Same. I mentioned, above, that there should be a special category for these songs. I've heard this one so many times that the moment I hear those piano chords, I immediately change the channel. Same with George Thorogood and even AC/DC, for me
@@triscat Yep! Another that gives me the same reaction is American Pie.
That "now it's a sickening song" for me is, "Layla."
The man with the golden pen...he could write some bangers! Makes me want to watch Risky Business again. Rock on guys!
Every bar band in the country plays this, and it always fills the dance floor. A couple more killers that no one mentioned below are "Betty Lou's getting out tonight" and "Fire Down Below".
"Night Moves" is like a timeless work of art, hanging in The Louvre, that will be forever cherished. "Old Time Rock and Roll", is like a classic 1970's Playboy Centerfold from a magazine found in your dad's attic that is still in pristine condition. They're both great, but you can't really compare one against the other.
Recorded as many of his hits at Muscle Shoals Sound and written by one of they're studio writers. Totally Muscle Shoals sound.
Ever have one of those songs that if you never hear again you couldn’t be happier? This is one for me. I have refused offers to play in cover bands where this was on a list they sent to me. Haha
We did dance to in a disco!!
THE GREATEST GENERATION WAS ROCKING OUT AT THE DISCO AND BOB SEGER!
"Travelin' Man & Beautiful Loser"is a must you guys! I've been asking for like 2 years respectfully. This is probably my least favorite Seger song and it's still better than 99% of crap out there. Much love 💚💚
