My dad just bought a RZR and we took it out to some dunes here in Las Vegas and that thing cut through sand like butter. When we hit gravel and rocks, the active suspension made it feel like nothing was there. Absolutely amazing piece of technology.

Really cool part is that more and more these are being street legal. Usually it is up to the individual counties. Here in Iowa just in the last 5 years half of our 99 counties allow them. I take mine everywhere even to get the groceries lol.

I did the whole Daily driver/Wheeling rig routine for awhile and it got old breaking my rig while offroading and then having to fix it ASAP so that I have my transportation back to get to work. At the time I could not afford to build a dedicated offroad truck AND have a nice reliable daily driver. These days I have the luxury of towing my SxS to the trail in my nice plush Silverado and having an awesome day wheeling around. If I break the SxS I winch it on the trailer and go home to fix it at my leisure. I've found that the ONLY time up here in Alaska that I would prefer a fullsize Truck while offroading is while crossing a deep swift river, My SxS gets pushed around and can be swept down stream if not careful. Other than that my SxS goes lots more places, is faster and weighs a LOT less and is much easier to get unstuck.

I purchased a new 2016 JKU Sport for $30,450, it had 3.21 gears, open diffs, steel rims with street tires, soft top and crank windows, I spent a small fortune on upgrades, 4.10 gears, Eaton Trutrac limited slip diffs, Fox shocks, Terraflex leveling springs, front and rear bumpers, winch etc. and it still was no comparison to a RZR, I would have bought this RZR Turbo S for the same price as the jeep in a heart beat, Jeeps are not in the same league as these RZR's.
I now have a cheaper 2018 RZR 1000-4 with a Shock Therapy spring upgrade that I am so impressed with. No comparison..

Sure, the SxS are capable machines, but I just don't see the practicality. First of all is the lack of storage. Second is always being exposed to the elements. And third is that I can drive my Jeep to work every day.
For those comparing the offroad performance against a Jeep, it's not really comparing apple's to apple's. I've been on many trails where a SxS would have no chance, but I've also seen them tear down a trail at speeds I would never even attempt in my Jeep.
But then again, maybe I'm just a grump. Mostly because 80% of the SxS owners that I've come across are disrespectful and don't follow trail etiquette. Can't tell you how annoying it is to have them tailgate me because I won't get out of their way immediately and then proceed to stomp on the gas once I do.

Mine 2018 RZR 1000xp EPS 2 seater was 16K OTD and is just a capable as this machine. You dont have to spend 30k to get a bad ass machine, this one is just the top of the line with all the options and NEW so of course it going to be over priced.

This is a bad comparison there totally different tools like a fully built rubicon would out crawl the rzr all day but comfort will not be as close due to solid axles. Plus the rzr has lockers Tommy’s wrangler doesn’t

I have a 2011 rzr and it's one thing after another, ball joints, tie rod ends, wheel bearings, brake pads,u joints and the list goes on. You need to be able to do your own work on these things so a shop manual is a must.

    Moral of the story:
If you were planning on getting a Jeep Wrangler to off-toad and crawl with, JUST DON’T! Buy the Polaris RZR XP Turbo S 4-seater! It will be cheaper to own, crawl better, off-road better, and can also sand dune, and can be made to be street legal too.

4:10 only two vehicles you can think of with active suspension?
God what a joke... I guess you’ve never heard of magnetorheological dampers commonly referred to as magne-ride suspension. Pretty much available for 20 years from GM, Ford, Ferrari, they utilize suspended particulates that are sensitive to magnetic fields and a computer controlled magnet to alter fluid thickness.
Volvo used semi active dampers, ktm subsidiary WP has semi active dampers.
This fox live valve is closer to semi active than fully, which magnetorheological technology is nearly infinitely adjustable and fully active.
Even the Civic (CTR/CSi) have electronically adjustable suspension.
It’s not like you don’t review hundreds of cars and trucks.
