  • Finally got a precision 12 inch miter saw back in my shop. Took advantage of a great sale at Amazon and got it for $549.00 that is the lowest price I have ever seen it advertised at. This is just a first look at it and as you will see they do not come perfectly adjusted from the factory with a great blade. Really nice saw but needs work in the saw dust collection area. Really compact for a 12 inch saw.
    I got a saw, my wife got a new chair and we picked our own presents for each other this year so nothing going back.
    Here is a link to the Amazon sale but I am not sure how long the $549.00 price will last that finally got me to buy it. amzn.to/3YqcKCq

      It's a very nice saw that saves space. Dust collection needs some work and the factory blade is not great as with most saws. I just ordered a better blade and will do an update once it's all tuned. I think you will be happy with it. let me know how yours was adjusted. Thanks for watching.

    Youre right about the Makita. I bought the 10 inch. The fit and finish was beautiful but it wouldnt cut square for anything. I really wanted to love that saw so I spent hours trying to make it cut straight but it was just junk so i returned it. thinking of buying the bosch now.

      From some of the comments, it seems that this Bosch quality may be hit or miss at this point. I love mine, with some fine tuning and a good blade it works great for my needs. Post pandemic quality is probably why so many items have issues lately. Thanks for watching.

    I bought the same one about a year ago and have been completely satisfied with it. I bought it because of the robotic arm so I could save space. You're right about the Dewalt. I still use it but not for fine work.

    Well Ed, you just got the gift that keeps on giving. I can't wait to see what you are going to build your bride using that saw. Me, I'm still using a 24 year old 12" Dewalt that is still running good. But you are enticing me to upgrade. I saw that saw at the Klingspore tool Extravaganza this fall and you are right, it has a very smooth action. I'm sure you will enjoy using it once you have tweaked it in. Take care my friend.

      I wore my old Dewalt 12 inch out plus it was too big so I sold it several years ago thinking the Incra sled would take up the slack. Turned out I was wrong. I saw it go on sale at Amazon and told my wife she was buying me a Christmas gift. She then found a new chair she wanted for knitting in and I got her that. It was a very easy Christmas for us. The grandkids just get money so we didn't have to leave the house to Christmas shop this year. Look the other way so your wife doesn't call me a bad influence on you 😉. Co2 laser should be here Thursday. Merry Christmas. Thanks for watching.

      I've got a Dewalt compound miter saw that I bought new in 98. Just learned in the last year how to adjust it. It never cut a decent 45. I'll take it on some time in the next year to see if I can adjust it in or not. If not this Bosch would be worth taking a look at for a replacement as I'm slowly getting back in to woodworking. That's a great looking piece of equipment. Be glad to see your thoughts on it after using it for a time.

    Good morning. I happen to own this same saw. You will love it. Definitely needs a better blade. I think the dust collection is very bad. Izzy swans channel just posted a video about 3 days ago and found a guy that makes a boot that seems to make a huge improvement. As talented as you are,that’s also a change I’m sure you will make. I’ve had mine for about 4 years,use it a lot. You will be happy. Thanks for sharing

      It definitely is a nice saw. I watched that video but it looked like his solution limited stock thickness when using the sliding feature. I definitely will spend some time trying to make something that won't be as fancy as his. Thanks for watching.

    When I bought my new miter saw a couple years ago, I looked at the Bosch but decided to go with the Metabo HPT 12”. The Metabo has fixed slide rails so it is a wall hugger also.

      I've got both, started with the Hitachi and just bought the Bosch. Both are great saws and each has an advantage and disadvantage over the other. HPT wins on price for sure and the fine tuning screw for angles and the metal gearing is really nice. The gliding motion of the Bosch is superb and the accuracy is great once setup properly.

    Sweet saw,, Good to see that Bosch still builds quality.. They seem to have lost a step since they merged with Skil and so has Skil.. That saw should have at least an 80 tooth if not a 100 tooth blade..

    • @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023  Před rokem +1

      It seems to be a very quality build. I ordered a 80 tooth -7 deg full kerf ATAFR grind blade for it. Seems to be the best solution for cutting both thick and thin stock. Almost went with 100 teeth but they cut very slow in thicker hardwoods. Iwill do an update once its all tuned. Thanks for watching.

    Hi... good looking saw. I have a lot of Bosch power tools but have a Delta 2nd Gen 12" Cruiser miter saw with similar type of slide mechanism. I recently bought an Amana Electro blue carbide blade (12", 72 teeth, ATB) which I really like. It works well and leaves a clean line. (Exception... the price $150. supposedly marked down from $200.) Ever notice how retailers inflate the supposed original price so when they sell it to you at the "on sale" (forever) normal price, they make you think you got a bargain! A utuber called "Shop Nation" makes dust collection adapters for Bosch, Delta, Rigid, etc. if you don't like your dust collection take a look at what he offers.

    • @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023  Před rokem

      I just ordered a Tenryu blade to try. It's a full kerf 80 tooth -7 degree hook ATAFR grind from Japan. Same price range. I looked at the Amana blades but couldn't find a full kerf negative hook angle on the affordable ones with 80 teeth. Always wanted to try a Japanese blade anyway. I watched that video but have a different idea of what I plan on trying. Pricing on everything is inflated to ridiculous levels lately. I was really surprised when Amazon marked this down. Thanks for watching.

    Have been on the fence with this saw for a long time. Went to Lowe's today to make a final decision on what I was going to buy. Well Lowe's made my decision for me and this saw was on clearance for 50% off. I was in a hurry to get a flat cart and that made this saw way cheaper than my next alternative

  • @carterscustomrods

    Great saw! It's much better than the other saws out there. It's even better than the $1,500 festool, Makita, or the Dewalt.
    Like all miter saws, they need to always be calibrated when you first get them. The Bosch especially!!!! I've never bought anything from Bosch (North America) that was true, straight out of the box.
    Sadly, we in the US get hosed in terms of Bosch Tools. They have so many great tools sold in other countries that we can not get here.
    So good luck, and enjoy the saw! Once it's dialed in, it should only need to be recalibrated once a year (unlike the Dewalt 580, which had been a bi-weekly struggle.)

    • @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023  Před rokem

      They definitely should be able to calibrate them perfectly at the factory with todays technology. It's all about profits. It is a very nice rigid saw for the price point. I think the 120 volt power grid has a lot to do with the international tools that never make it here. With battery options I think we will se more. Thanks for watching.

    Ed i have the same saw as well, i had do some adjustments too but the saw table is insanely tight to spin (along with one or two other knobs) to different angles and was wondering if yours is tight too? But the saw is a great saw and you got a great price on it, good luck.

    • @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023  Před rokem

      The pivot lock I fought with was easy to adjust. I just loosened the nut on the back some. The instructions were easy to follow for the angle tilt stops. Mine spins fairly easy. Could be that pressure plate screw under the table is snug on yours. If you can't free it up by adjusting call Bosch and see what they say because it shouldn't be binding. Thanks for watching .

      If that's one of your requirements I would look at other saws. I have never had a saw with a laser and don't really see a need for one. Biggest issues are sawdust and runout that I show in the other videos about it. Really nice saw once you tune it up. Thanks for watching.

      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 bought it at lowes a black Friday 22. Box was good. Got it up and running year so it's out of warranty. Bosch told me that is how they are designed??? I do have a video up showing the issue. It is a joined board. Even with a metal straight edge it is off.

      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023  Před 3 měsíci

      I wonder of there is a spacer under the pivot that could have been doubled up at the factory. May pay to pull it apart and see if there is a easy way to level it. Pandemic quality and customer support were not that good. Could also place some .06 UHMW self adhesive tape on the tables.

      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 pulled the saw apart. There is 1 bolt under the insert plate that can be undone. There are 4 shims that are curved and can be seen from the outside of the turntable when the saw is assembled. I removed the shims and reassembled. This led to the problem in reverse. The turntable became low by the same amount that it is high with the shims installed. I did go on Amazon and read the reviews of the saw. There is a video of the same exact issue. Bosch gave the guy the same run around as they did me. They claim, " this is a feature." So at some point, either the thickness of the shim has changed or the casting changed, and bosch doesn't want to fix the problem.
      So, moving forward, I ordered a new saw today. If it is out, I will switch brands. I was excited for Bosch, I like the design, the fit, and the finish. But, a saw with untrue tables will never be an accurate saw!

  • @MGNYPD
    @MGNYPD Před 3 měsíci +1

    You say this Bosch Saw is good and I purchased it on your recommendation but, have you measured the deflection when using it. I’m curious to know if you like many other owners have the same problem. Set the saw at 90° and cut a 12 inch piece of wood. It may be 90° at the fence but it is never 90° at the end of the cut. I called Bosch several times and there is no adjustment for this. The arms have too much play or deflection. Let me know if you have the same problem
    Thanks, Mitch

    • @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023  Před 3 měsíci +1

      I don’t have any play but if you force it to one side or the other it will move. Cuts nice and square pushing it straight back. Only issue was the washers for the blade were not machined perfectly flat shown in the follow up video and I stoned them in the high spot and marked the set to solve that. Sounds like Bosch quality is going downhill because another buyer just said his turntable is .03 higher then the side tables and Bosch also said that is normal. Mine is perfectly flat so I know it isn't normal.
      If mine was like yours, I would have sent it back because that is not acceptable on a saw like this. I love mine except for the sawdust collection. Thanks for watching.
