What drives you mad about other people when out on the trail? 👇
People letting their kids walk on the jumps like it's a playground.
People arriving like that first Blake, expecting others to carry kit and don't bring their own. Absolutely hate that. And then when they sit up you arse going up switchbacks......😠😠😠😠😠
There was one guy once that not only did not stop after seeing me crash, but almost ran into me.
People who ride to close behind me
riding too close is a pet peeve of mine, especially when i request they BACK OFF, but people tend to quit when i brake check them. if they dont get the message the first time, i do it again. much harder. either they wreck or they learn.
Blake's psychotic episodes of multiple personality disorder are GOLD!!!
Top notch acting.
🤣🤣
#1 - No Littering!
Otherwise a Blake monster and shout at u to take ur rubbish (look back to last years whistler video if u don’t understand)
The US army lead by Theodore Rosevelt will make an advance on your house
Yessss. Littering is horrible!
Wreckit Lethal your.
I always litter. Yes i love pissing people off.
Don't be that person giving others the look just because they don't have a 5k downhill bike, full face and clear every gap.. Be friendly, even if I'm no pro with a pro kit.
Agreed. I'm even warm & inviting to newbies out on Wal-Mart bikes. Mainly because I was once in their shoes. When I was still on my $80 Wal-Mart special, I met a few other riders at my local trails (all riding Trek Fuel EXs). They never once criticized my bike, but instead encouraged me to keep riding. My skills improved and eventually I rode it til it broke. After that, I got my first "real" bike.
@ewanok there are some bike snobs out there trust me.
It really depends on what's going on. Letting people ride shitty bikes on dangerous trails is just asking for trouble. Not having money for a proper bike is no excuse to continue riding improper bikes on dangerous public trails, they should stick to the easier proper trails for that particular bike. Otherwise, they are only serving to jeopardize the trails if they get hurt because their bike fails. Now... READ THIS AGAIN! Because I know everyone is just going to hear "shitty bikes shouldn't be on any trails" and that's not what I said. They should stick to the proper trails for the bike they have or go ride on private property where their actions won't affect the public. But don't jeopardize everyone elses fun by being an idiot on an shitty bike on dangerous trails.
@@MotoAtheist "But don't jeopardize everyone elses fun by being an idiot on an shitty bike on dangerous trails." Somebody should tell Sam Pilgram that haha
I race enduros as a 13 year old and I e got a really nice bike myself, a 2013 Stumpjumper I bought used but when I show up there it’s full of snobby rich kids with 9k enduro bikes and remember these are 13 year olds. I know that look you talk about because I got it in my first few races until I started winning so it proves that you can still be a good rider even without the 10k carbon bikes that your parents bought you.
People who bring speakers to the trail and play really loud music that other people don't want to hear.
This
Wtf is that a thing? Are we talking like lift service areas or large state Forest trail riding (I'm in USA so state own forests with trails).
I've yet to run into this out in the woods, but I could see this at a lift service type of place.
Reason a bottle of water in my bag is for spraying
Wibmer famio
Semi guilty, but i keep the volume reasonably low, but if some good shit comes on its going up. honestly though... Don't like it? keep riding you'll be out of range in no time.
Here's one for you. Riders expecting trail builders to move out of the way. Trail builders are top dogs. Walk around them and thank them.
🤔 Seems like they're more a hazard than a help if they don't shut down the trail properly before they start working.
Shut it down all you want, riders still come down the trail and sometimes expect us to move out shovels and wheel barrels out of the way. Not common. But it happens.
@@landandwaterca Show no mercy, block the trail then!
Let me get this straight so you would rather they closed the whole damn Trail instead of having you to stop and maybe walk around someone who's trying to help you wow what an idiot

There is a special place in hell for over competitive strava wankers and any riders that leave litter. Especially gel packets left by said Strava wankers.
So anyone who uses strava is a wanker and belongs in hell !,fairly sure that attitude is covered in the above vid,be nice lol.
@@salisburyplain998 Not at all what I said bro. "over competitive strava wankers". Its literally right there in my comment 😂😂
Joe Mitchell Plenty of those on my local trails brah
Joe Mitchell
People who litter in general should die. I love chasing Strava times, but as a decent human, I simply put gel packets into my jersey, saddle bag, or somewhere where it will soon find a bin.
Strava-holes are the worst. I use strava, but not to the extent I need to annoy anyone else. The assholes on a Saturday morning pushing family's out of the way are the assholes...lol
Always amazes me how oblivious some people are to the fact that they are in the middle of a trail.
I have been guilty of this. Stopping is fine but I gotta remember to get my butt of to the side until I'm ready to ride.
We are all a work in progress right?
Bryan Bolivar Very true and well said. I am definitely a work in progress, lol.
Love how ya all take important stuff and present it in a fun way. I'm 54 yr old cancer survivor and hopefully can save up

A great way to celebrate life! And you don't have to be 14 to start mountain biking! I should know! 😉 Good luck!
So good to hear your success with cancer, I'm 53 and had a the bottom part of a kidney removed a year ago 1st scan clear 4 more to go but looking good. This year I want to get fit and get on some trails.
@@Kev5565 positive vibes for the 4 scans. Are they every quarter or every year? Would love to get the bike and go on trails. The only problem is i love in northwest Indiana. About 20 miles from Chicago, Ill. And it is flat. Would have to travel to find maintained trails
I hate the people that just complain the whole ride. Like, just cuz your ride is miserable doesn't mean you have to ruin it for me, too.
Great vid Blake 🤣
We once came across a guy on a really rocky trail where he crashed. He was cussing and had a boulder in his hands and was beating a rock stuck in the ground and kicking it. We asked him what he was doing and asked if he needed some help. He said he needed help with the rock, so we did our best to not laugh and told him he had a whole lot of work ahead of him since this particular trail is more rock than dirt. He went back to his work and told us to eff off! So we did. I was going to offer some weed since he was having such a bad day! Sometimes you just gotta rise above these folks. Don't let them kill your buzz.
But whiny ride partners deserve to be dropped and need a time out, just like a child. If they don't have a clue, they don't get another invite.
@@rollinrat4850 did he ever finish clearing the trail? Lmao
@@jakebraun6376 Like I said, more rocks than dirt. This trail is so rocky, the dirt washes out of it every winter. The county trail crew literally adds dirt to the trail every summer to smooth it out a bit, but I think it's futile.

I love this comment.
Blake, your really entertaining in these vids. Love watching you hook it over massive jumps :)
Thanks dude! 🤟
I’ve given away so many tubes. Wouldn’t hurt for the dude who comes unprepared to spot me a few bucks. At least offer or something
We're sure the favour will come back around and help you when you need it! 👍
I bought a pack of 3 of the cheapest tubes I could find and keep one of those in my pack as well as my normal one, if someone wants a tube they get the cheapo one and if ever I have a really bad day it might help me by being another spare.
@@ChuckFickens1972 good idea or carry an old patched up tube to give away 👍
Chuck Fickens that’s a good idea
Global Mountain Bike Network leta hope so, but I’m not gonna quit helping, not my style.
One that I've been seeing more and more that is kind of annoying (maybe it's just me)... riders that have huge speakers on their packs/bars blasting music the whole ride.
or earbuds.
Yea ,Y do they think we all want to listen to that shyt ?
Yes!! If someone wants to listen o headphones then it’s up to them, but the wankers that play music over speakers can do one.
It’s not just you!
They probably scared of bears or something
Great video once again Blake, but one gripe about the pump and tube. I will always stop if I see another rider working on their bike and offer a hand but won't give away my spares. It's like a tube cost that much but once you give it away then you don't have it for the rest of your ride and you'll be the one replacing it. Just my 2cents.
Jack Buster Agreed. You can use my pump any time and I’ll give you all the patches you need but, unless I’m close to the end of my ride, or you’ve double-punctured in the middle of nowhere, my spare tube is for me. Sure, don’t be that jerk who just blasts straight past, but don’t be the idiot who goes out with no way to fix a puncture.
patch kit
Agreed. I’ll give anyone a patch and a bit of my time to help, but if you didn’t bother to bring a spare tube, why should I give mine up and put myself at risk?
Absolutely agree! I give out patches too. I'm responsible for me and my survival every single ride unless I'm riding with family too. Id
just make fun of my friends, ride up and down the trails while they hoof it! That's called tough love and learning lessons. But money certainly always talks! Sometimes learning costs us!
I don't mind helping and have done my fair share but why should people keep bailing other people out who don't even carry the basics like a tube and pump
pump - ok, tube - hell no, I might need it as well
@@RandomTheories my thoughts exactly. i dont mind sharing multi use items but i usually do not share consumables, like tubes. i will sometimes give a tube patch though. or a piece of electrical tape or chewing gum as an improvised patch so they can at least limp home.
Last time I got a flat I had a pump and no tube. Guy stopped asked if i wanted one but i just walked my dumb self the 2 miles back to the car.. kinda teach myself a lesson and i had no money to offer him for it
Agree. Especially on trails far from home. If I'm close to home I keep it light, but if I'm on a new trail or far from the car, then yeah, be prepared.
Even my 12yr old daughter knows to carry a spare tube & pump in her bag, surely it's just common sense ??
1:53 that's why I love Blake
I’m not a fan of people stopping you and asking for something they should have themselves. That point should have been “Always go prepared”
I do agree on the point of respecting other trail users, but I remember that one time during the summer I was riding my local enduro course with my mate. The course is quite steep and has many blind spots so it’s definitely not the place to find a horse rider standing in the middle of the trail with his horse. He later gave out to us and complained that we were rolling too fast down the trail and we should take more caution. 😂
3:57 he was about to burst out laughing
I knew everything in this video but I still watched it because it’s BLAKEEE!!!
Harun Hecimovic oh yhyh
Thank you for addressing the be nice to slower riders, I took out my buds to ride their first time and they were going slow and this guy came and almost made them crash and yelled at them for being slow
Blake, you're hilarious my man 😂😂😂 "place your bike.. NICELY."
Should add in the KOM-at-any-cost guys cutting corners and destroying berms and other parts of the track.. just for that extra 1-2sec. Major problem at my local trails
Isaak yeah that is my friend. I actually don’t even like talking to him anymore because all he talks is strava. I use strava, but I don’t worship it like him.
The first one, If the dude is too disorganised to bring a tube, he deserves to miss out.I'll give him a patch or let him borrow my pump but He's not taking my backup tube ;) .
madrx2 You should have more than one backup tube. I carry 3.
Yes! Exactly
@@tgk300xx4 no that's dumb. 1 tube if that. Trust me I'm a motorcycle. Spotted dog.
Thats totally my cousin. Had to leave early on multiple rides because he didn't have a spare 29" tube. Or patch. Or pump.
I go riding at my local trail in the Cannondale trail 6. It's an entry level, decent hardtail, and gives me the most fun. But OOHHH... the judgemental eyes of those with super expensive full-sus and helmets and whatever else at the trailhead when they see this bloke with a cheap bike and in non mtb specific tee. 🤷🏼♂️
@Retro Regulator I'm pretty sure they had 2 wheels. Haha
I can understand you. I have got an old 26' hardtail, with Magura hs24 and a old Manitou fork. But I love this bike and on the trail it works very well
Hey man, don’t let things like that bother you, I see it all the time where I ride. The funny thing is that a lot of these guys I see with these very expensive bike aren’t even that skilled of riders. It’s not about what you ride, it’s how you ride and the attitude you have. Live Free, Ride Hard, and Get Stoked!!!
It really depends on the trails in question! If you're riding highly technical and rough trails, some bikes just aren't going to hold up. A trail 6 isn't setup for really rough downhill style trails and you just look like an idiot who will likely need air rescued after his frame cracks and you go tumbling in to a bunch of rocks and roots. They don't need tragedies happening on the more dangerous trails. I assume this was the scenario, otherwise there wouldn't be a bunch of full sus bikes with full face helmets around to give two shits about you.
MotoAtheist exactly
Thank you for reminding riders to alert hikers of your presence. I both ride and hike and it can be really difficult to hear a rider coming up behind you. Cheers!

Thanks for making this video, I am new to biking and am just starting to go on trails. I try to have good etiquette but some things I didn’t know probably made other bikers mad, but now since I have watched this video I know what to do and what not to do so now I can focus on having fun. Thank you.

I don't even mountain bike, somehow stumbled upon this, and have watched it 4 times for just entertainment & laughs. fantastic content xD
Cheers kristy! Great to hear we're entertaining for non riders too 😂
Basically common sense and decency goes a long way.
I’m 16 so don’t have that much money and if I came across someone wanting a tube I would happily lend tools but I don’t want to be paying £5 for a tube that I’m going to give to a random person, Yh sure if they pay for it but otherwise i would be loosing money left right and centre
Love your videos!! Gonna try my 1st mtn bike riding this weekend. Nervous and excited and our vids are really helpful to this newbie! thanks!
Thanks for all the amazing videos you’re putting out keep it up 👍
Guys why all the hate? We've all had the nightmare day when just getting to the trail centre didn't happen and we forgot something, or that ride with new tyres that just puncture all the time... The whole point of mountain biking is we're a community and we stand together. I'd hate to stop someone and ask for help, but I'll always happily help get a fellow ride up and running, be it a puncture, chain or whatever else.
To bad not every rider follows these simple rules. And if I could add one, and I'm sure others would agree, nobody wants to hear your music blaring on the trails. Keep the BT speakers at home.
Can we use BT ear buds?
I say save it for after ride beers and tacos.
I agree, but if I'm at the trailhead you get to listen to metal...played at a reasonable volume so as not to disturb others.
@@williamkeys5701 haha I've a playlist with rock and metal, and electronic vibe stuff, some indie stuff. Its all stuff from racing and snowboarding and motocross video games mostly that bring some nostalgia with them

Great video man! 😄
That's not realistic, any time you call on the right or left to a walker, they look back see you on that side and it's always the blimmin direction they go too
You hit the nail right on the head and then they're mad at you because they don't know left from right.
Or if you use a bell. Had one lad tell me he was wondering what the noise was
Neil McDonnell Or if you say “Could I come past please?” and they yell at you for not having a bell...
The problem with calling “on the left/right” is that they didn’t hear you coming so you surprised them. They have to make a split-second decision which way to go, and what they actually heard was “[mumble, oh wait, somebody’s talking to me, I’d better pay attention]eft!” from which they’re supposed to figure out that you said “On your left” which means “Please move right.” No wonder they go the wrong way.
Happened to me today. I nearly ran over this old lady. Luckily she was cool about it and I was glad I didn't bump into her.
But isn't tailgating aka slipstream in GCN gain you 30% more aero??
Jk
Fury L1_NeVeRz It’s still rude to do it on the road without telling the other person you’re there and doing your share of time at the front.

THANK YOU for the "share the trail"! As a mountain biker and hiker, it annoys the hell out of me when I'm hiking downhill and a MTB zips past within just a few inches with no warning, no slowing down and no acknowledgement. Makes all MTBers look bad!
When I'm out on my MTB, no matter how much fun I'm having or how fast I'm going, I always, ALWAYS slow to near walking speed when I encounter hikers, walkers, trail runners etc. It's easy to get back up to speed again.

Had the 'get out of the way one' before.. That was very funny dude:)
Love that there's a "going to the pub afterwards" etiquette section :)
Blake's haircut is so dope.
Another to add: hit the trails with a well maintained bike. Don't go on a road trip with mates and be the one who didn't check the basics. Annoying for the rest who have to spend half their precious weekend helping a mate fix and fettle. Shit happens to all of us, I just mean when someone knows their bike needs work, but leaves it till the trailhead or mid-ride to do it.
I was chilling in the parking lot finishing off a sandwhich and was watching this group of riders who were meeting up. Two of the guys pretty much drove up and practically jumped on their bikes, ready to go while one of the guys was draggin his ass doing everything in turtle mode. He took forever changing out his shoes and socks and shirt and then has to fiddle with his bike, putting on his wheel, checking the pressures, fiddling with his seat, just on and on while chatting with some other guy that rolled up ready to go. Yep, he was "that guy" holding everyone else up. That kind of shit drives me insane!! When I agree with somebody to be on the trail at 6... that means "ON THE TRAIL", not in the parking lot and taking another 30 minutes to prepare.
In the Moab area some visitors seem to have problems realizing, understanding, or adhering to the following (no particular order):
1.) Please do not ride trails that are wet/muddy/snowy/etc. the groves made in the soft desert soil/mud harden into concrete-like tire ruts, which are a lot of work for Trailmix (our trail builders) to fix, and are a safety hazard for beginners and experienced riders alike. And riding around mud puddles causes damage to the desert. Please see # 3 below. Go and get your pump on the slick rock if it's wet out.
2.) Please yield to horses, hikers, and uphill riders. The trails in Moab are on public land (BLM, USFS, etc.), and many are designated multi use. Also many trails are two-way traffic where uphill riders ALWAYS have the right of way.
3.) Please do nut cut corners. The desert soil/crust is fragile, and if you ride of trail the damage you cause can take many decades to recover, if at all.
4.) Please do not have external speakers playing your music. The music you love, might be shit to others, and the sounds of nature are way better anyway.
5.) Please pack it in and pack it out. I.e., don't litter! In fact, when you see litter from others, pick it up and pack it out.
6.) Regarding the point in the video about not having the right equipment to fix a flat: Please remember that some traveling riders might be renting, and the shop may have neglected to include the right equipment. A beginner or a really excited traveler might not know or just forget to ask. It is also possible to have two flats in the same day on the same ride. So yes, everyone should be prepared, but also everyone who has the ability to help should help. We are after all on the same team.
Happy and safe riding to all!
Spent the video looking at the torque, it’s very cool!
As someone who has members of the family who are horse riders, the most annoying thing is when my sister comes home and gets stroppy at the fast riders! Don't be that guy, you can keep moving but go at the horses pace because then it will not get spooked (if it does get spooked it can injure the rider or even yourself!)
I would never think of these rules. Thanks! 🤣
Neat vid gmbm
I'm just glad that I have a running background now that I'm getting into Mtn biking, either one I'm doing I have respect for the other trail users, runners and bikers :)
Lmao. I did a full tire patch job for a complete stranger at the end of a long long ride. Last week. Funny seeing that as your first tip
Agree on everything except the helping: I once gave a multi tool to some bloke (a c’dale branded one that hid in the head tube - they don’t make ‘em anymore... and it was a gift) - the dude broke it, thought nothing of it (not even a ‘sorry’) and wanted to give me 3$ and call it even. Since then: unless you’re dying I’m not stopping.
Nice video keep up the good worck
hilarious and informative!
Great video. Unfortunately I have a feeling people who need to respect that etiquette will never watch this video or listen anyway 😂
Hahaha “your a man! Your the man”!!! Blake is so cool... lol 😂
What bothers me are discussions about safety equipment. Some skilled rider might shred a trail pretty hard with only some knee pads and an open helmet, when anotherone uses a fullface, eventually a vest too, and gets overtaken by many. Don't make fun of them. Keep in mind that some people need protection to be confident enough to step out of their comfortzone ridingwise and evolve. Another possibility, the rider has kids, a responsible job or an important appointment coming up and has to minimize the risk of injuries.
I don't think I've ever seen anyone made fun of for riding a full kit. I see it as a smart move in most downhill trails. I'm not gonna lie though, I rarely wear all of it myself.
Yeah, I dislike anyone telling others what to wear, it's none of their damn business how anyone else rides. I only discuss stuff when asked for my opinion.
Hillarious! Also on a group ride people follow too close and keep shrieking their excitment, YIP YIP WAHOO 1 foot off my rear bumper, ahhhhh!
The editing is gorgeous
Thank you I Just started to learn to ride a bike like a year ago and I’m thinking about maybe going on a trail and wanted to know what not to do and what to do thanks :)
Blake’s edits are so much fun!
