    I thought I was crazy for taking my wheels off and cleaning the back sides of the spokes and the barrel, claying them if necessary and then applying wheel sealant to every surface regardless of how visible it is when on the car. Then comes Larry and polishes the wheel with a rotary to get off the hard stuff and shows us his system for cleaning his lug nuts without losing sight of which wheel they were on. Absolutely bonkers.
    Larry, we love you. Also I bought one of your spoke wheel brushes and it rocks. Legitimately my favourite detailing tool.
    Would you considering doing a general video on exterior trim pieces? You've spent a lot of time showing us techniques for paint and wheels and mechanical parts (engine bay etc.) but I've never seen you do a full video of how to clean/polish chrome door handles, plastic scuttles, window seals, exhaust tips etc. I love this fine detail stuff and I'm really interested to see how you do it.

    Larry is my favourite CZcamsr and Deatailer in the world. He is full of
    honesty, integrity, skills, kindness and knowledge. With those assets,
    one can`t go wrong.
    I love that he is sticking to his values, that are admirable to say one
    have, but it is a different thing to actually live by them aswell.
    If I have to give som constructive critisism, I have watched all his
    videos at lest 2 times, and some of them more than ten times, I would
    say with lots of love, please upload longer videos and try to include
    more before and after shots and videos. That would be the iceing on top
    of the cake, that last "carnauba wax on top" :D
    I hope that this comment reaches Larry!

    I could watch you clean all day. My inner OCD persona breathes a sigh of relief as you work your magic. I usually avoid recommending products to my friends because all car enthusiasts know "that guy" that's always telling you what you use is crap and their stuff is obviously superior.
    However, I recommend you, you product, and your videos to all my automotive friends. You take the time to educate more than just hawk your wares. To me that's essential in earning trust as to your depth of knowledge and passion to what you do. I choose to believe that those traits do indeed carry over to your products, (yes I've seen the video where you describe how you came to make your own stuff).
    Your sincerity shows and as a result I feel comfortable recommending your products to others.
    Please keep up the good work and know that many of us enjoy watching your videos and learning about the cleaning process and more importantly what NOT to do.
    Namaste my good man, and may fortune continue to smile warmly upon you.

    I've used clay bars for years and would never wax my vehicles without this important first step. However, I never flatten the bar into a "pancake" as instructed. I always use it as a full "bar" and for good reason. Allow me to explain:
    When the bar surface becomes soiled, I take a common Potato Peeler and take a few seconds to shave off the soiled layer, exposing a new pristine surface. Using this method, I've had clay bars last for years and there is never a question about the bar being too soiled to use any longer.
    I never understood the logic in folding microscopic contaminates back into the bar only to resurface sometime later ???

    For the "carpeted" or felt wheel wells, you can use either the hydriphobic coatings some brands do for interior carpets in cars, but that might be a little pricier. Otherwise, you can just use the same stuff people put on winter shoes, the cheap spray on stuff which makes timberlands and other shoes water resistant. Just cake that onto the felt/carpet in the wheel wells :) Works amazing, and is quite cheap

      AJHedges if you decide to clean your engine, put dielectric on every connection before you wash it. that way it's more protected and in the future don't have to worry about moisture. many people don't talk about that but helps with corrosion and it takes to long to cover up every connection to wash.

    Awesome vid, Larry, thanks for this one! I LOVE deep-cleaning wheels too, as weird as we may seem for doing it. One thing I have to say - since most people probably don't change their wheels/tires out as often as you or I do, it's probably not the best idea for most people to wash out lug nuts like that, as it can introduce rust between the threads, and make removing the lug nuts in the future extremely difficult. Obviously, this can be mitigated with a dab of oil on the threads, or some anti-seize. LOVE this video, though. I've been wanting to get some more professional opinions for taking care of wheels.

    • @peterkizer6163
      @peterkizer6163 Před 7 lety +1

      I always use anti-seize on lug nuts - I've got it handy for brake pads/shoes anyway. And, of course a torque wrench (goes without saying, yes?).

    • @CrazyIvan1337
      @CrazyIvan1337 Před 7 lety

      I always use anti-seize, too. I sometimes get shit for it, but hey, I'd rather get my hands messy than deal with ruined lug threads! Also, I use application-specific brake grease for pads and shoes. I've almost used up my CRC brake grease, might try another brand. As far as a torque wrench...well, I use it where it's necessary, like for engine assembly, transmission, clutch, drivetrain, etc. My rule of thumb for tightening lug nuts is to tighten them as much as you can, but don't tighten them to the point where you can't break them loose by hand, should you have to change a flat tire on the side of the road. I'm very meticulous when it comes to re-assembly of stuff...haha.

    • @CanadaBud23
      @CanadaBud23 Před 7 lety +2

      I hear ye, I catch crap too from people putting anti-seize on my wheel/brake hardware but I still got 30 year old good lugs and studs while they are breaking them off every few years. I torque by hand too and by now I have a good enough feeling that I'm within 1-2 pounds of specs. Most people don't realize that (even tire shops) that a person can easily over torque wheel studs by hand with a regular 1/2" drive ratchet. Studs are very fine thread and 50lbs (avg.) is quite a bit for fine thread.

You just have to keep the wheels waxed and some type of corrosion protection on anything bare. And good snow tires are a must! Old fashion tar undercoating is a waste and a mess there are allot of other better cleaner options. Just look around youtube and google.
