      Rob Lowe can kiss my ass! So sick of people who leave shows for money reasons. At least this is what I was told. He left the show because he wanted more money than the rest of the cast even though he wasn't more important than the others in the story. But he was told originally that he was going to be groomed to be Pres after Bartlett because Martin Sheen hadn't intended to be a major part of the show to begin with. But his charisma ended up stealing the show and people wanted him on the show. So plans change. You can't demand more money than everyone else if your part isn't bigger than everyone else's. Besides, at that point, everyone on that show was making massive money anyway. So to ask for more is just greed! -- Anyway, obviously that's the actions of the actor not the character but it just kinda tainted everything for me. Mur!

    • @Dream0Asylum
      @Dream0Asylum Před 7 lety +6

      It wasn't just money. Don't get me wrong; The West Wing probably saved Rob Lowe's career from being nothing but a string of straight-to-video B-Movies. However, when Rob, Brad, ect ect signed their original contracts it was with the understanding that the show was about them - not the president. Indeed, the president was only supposed to make a brief appearance and only rarely each season.
      And then Martin Sheen gets cast. Sorkin, having worked with Martin before and being both aware and a fan of his gravity and charm greatly expanded the role of the president in the series. (In my opinion, rightly so.) Though, this left the ensemble feeling marginalized in what was supposed to be "their show."
      Rob, bless him, thought he'd rebuilt enough good will and Hollywood juice to go back to movies - or at least headline a show of his own instead of "wasting his time" on a show where sometimes his only line was; "Thank you Mr. President."
      And what happened? A few TV movies, some lackluster shows with early cancellations, and perhaps a movie or two that nobody remembers.
      The short of it is, I can't blame him for feeling pushed aside - what I can fault him for is not appreciating how good he had it, regardless.
      A few people have walked off the "Number One show on Television" over the decades. They've all regretted it, Rob's probably no exception.

    • @Anjalena
      @Anjalena Před 7 lety +7

      Thank you, Mr. President?? Are you kidding me?? That man had some of the most AMAZING and inspirational dialogues and monologues! His days with Ainsley Hayes were so fun (what was up with her and the food?? we always wondered that. it was the quirkiest thing and frickin hilarious!) and the day that he stormed into the Republican counsel's office and wrote that note "You're Fired!" then said something like "And when I leave a note, I have the nerve to sign it!" and he signs it. "- S. Seaborn" And they try to say he doesn't have the authority to fire them and Tribby is standing there with his cricket bat and tells them he does. Oh man, I still get chills and it's been years since I saw it!! And then at the end of the ep where he orchestrates the Pirates of Penzance song in her office.
      I -NEVER- once got the impression that any member of that cast was marginalized. I don't even understand what the hell that means (for that show, I mean)! I didn't even hear this story until after Rob left! I always felt very strongly like everyone was an important and equal part of the show. Well, with the exception of people like Donna, Mrs Landingham (*cries*), the other secretaries, and Charlie. Though I'd say Charlie came closest to being a part of the regular cast for air time at least.
      In any case, Sorkin did a great job, I felt, of cycling around through the characters and giving them all big moments to shine. We got to delve into stories for each of them and get to know who they were... even Toby who was really kind of introverted, standoffish, and more difficult to get to know than the others. But he was my favorite, I believe. (other than Stockard Channing..... and I've had a HUGE crush on that actress for a lot of years! she wrinkles her nose when she laughs. And I love the way she says "Jackass!" all short and whipped. I ... never mind. *takes a cold shower* *rofl*)
      And oh, C.J.'s story with the FBI agent played by Mark Harmon. I could almost cry right now! And like you probably,l I could go on and on and on and ON about my favorite stories with the different characters. But my post is already movel-length. heh. One more thing that I do remember that breaks my heart every time I think of it is when John Spencer died and they had to figure out how to work that into the story. =( I loved Leo so much! He was so quiet and kind. I always felt bad for him when people were fighting near him because I'd watch his face and he reminded me of a child watching his parents fight and not knowing what to say or do. heh. John Spencer was an incredible actor to be able to put that much depth into it. All of them were incredible but I think the best ones were Martin, John, and Richard. They added depth to their characters that you really had to dig deep and think hard about to try to figure out. Kind of like Paulie in the movie Rocky. Sorry... rambly....
      I only got to watch the first 5 or 6 seasons, I believe. Then something happened in my life that took me away from it for a time and I don't remember what it was but it had to have been apocalyptic because this is WW here. *rofl* And I don't watch or read things out of order... so once I missed some, that was it for me. Booo! =( But I hope I can go back and finish it eventually.
      Anyway, back to my very cold pizza now. *rofl*

      At this moment I will point out that I was making a joke. As in Sorkin looks younger than Whitford, and not unlike Sam. Hence Sam aged better than Josh. Thank you, and goodnight.

      Sam (Rob Lowe) has a picture of Dorian Gray in his attic. He looks younger now than when he appeared on the show. He was being paid more than any of the other actors on the WW. So Allison Janney, Bradley Whitford, Richard Schiff, and Martin Sheen were all given a raise up to Rob Lowe’s level. Lowe got mad and quit. At least that was the gossip on the WW site.
      Am trying to think of someone who left a series for more money and was a success???

    James Corden is a really terrible interviewer, half the time he seems barely able to get the question out of his mouth intact, the rest of the time he's talking in such a fake sounding loud / over enthusiastic voice that it's distracting

    Stop the fake laugh. Is it contagious ?? Maybe its not fake, but sometimes , its just overboard for something that is not that funny

    Your skits, you and your show is amazing. But you're fighting a losing battle due to the quality of guests you're given recently
