Hey Rick. I’m the Mike you talked to in line. Really enjoyed our conversation. Keep cranking the videos out. They’re great. I also bought several cards from Mitch. Got ‘55 and ‘58 Berras, a gorgeous ‘54 Bowman Gil Hodges in a PSA 7, a ‘64 Banks, and an immaculate ‘68 Drysdale in an SGC 8.5. Also bought some nice stuff from Dan who put on the show. There was an insane amount of Pokémon stuff that I couldn’t care less about, but as you said, the few vintage dealers they had were top notch. It was a real treat getting to meet you.

MIKE! Thanks so much for your kind words. It was great meeting you. I promise not confuse you with the other Mike next time.
Man, you bought a lot from Mitch. I only bought one card from him but you definitely scored. Nice stuff!!
Too much Pokemon. I hope to see you at a show soon, Mike.

It's funny, Eric. We have a lot of shows, but I would LOVE to go to a Midwest or east coast show cause I feel they have way more vintage than we do out here.

Great pickups for the set for less than 100! Sounds like a great show. Thanks for sharing the details. Hope all is well Rick! Enjoyed as always.

Nice pickups. That Rose looks nice.

The Rose was the best card of the lot. I should have paid a little more attention to the Drysdale and Yaz cards. I didn't catch small creases until I brought the cards home. My bad. It was still a fun show. Thanks for watching!

Hi Rick, this is Marc. I was the second person in line you spoke with. It was very nice to meet you. I liked the show, but there were some issues that should be easy to fix. I picked up some nice stuff that were not cards. I hope to see you the next time at a show.

Marc!! It was great meeting you at the show. I wish we could have spoken longer. The show has issues indeed like all the shows. If you ever go to the Burbank show in Anaheim or Ontario, those locales have more space and you're able to move around or just stand there and not get in the way.
What did you pick up? Autographs? I hope I see you soon at another show. Talk soon!

Rick, the one thing that I would like to see if possible . The biggest logjam is when both sport cards and Pokémon dealers were in the same aisle. I have been to the Burbank show in Ontario twice and the one at the Anaheim Convention Center. I picked up the following on Saturday. 1) some autographs and relics of the Giants. 2) 60 1969 Topps baseball cards from Mitch and a Shohei bobble head when he hit the cycle. 3) At another dealer I bought an April 18, 1955 Sports Illustrated magazine with the paper cards still inside, a. 1947 San Francisco Seals booklet, a 1951 Seattle Rainiers roster booklet, 1949 New York Giants program,, two 1977 scarab productions 33 1/3 RPM records of Willie Mays and Bobby Thomson and 3 baseball theme postcards from around 1911. 4) the last thing was a 2007 ALL-Star game program.

Even some of the sticker prices on those 1968s are attractive. I've been aware for ages that the Tigers team is a legendary toughie from that set. Best of luck in finishing it up! I love that cat at the end.

68 is an easy set to work on compared to other set, Michael that's for sure. Yeah, that Tigers card was very hard to find. Those are my babies, Lala and Sadie at the end!! Thanks for watching!

Great pickups for $100 Rick, that 68 Pete Rose looks really sharp! The Tiger team card was a great grab, thanks for sharing.

Thanks Steve. The Rose is seriously the best of the lot. Tigers card wasn't as easy to get, but I love it. If you still lived out, we could have met up! hahaha!

I’m a little behind in watching videos, so I’m a little tardy in checking in with you, but I wanted to say thanks for the kind words and the positive comments for my cards at the show. What can I say I really appreciate getting the word out for my table and contact info. Always helps to get exposure out to the hobby community at large. I always enjoy your videos and breakdown of the shows you attend. Good stuff! Thanks again.

@@RickAcostaDodgerCardCollector I’ll be in Sacramento July 13th and then Burbank Card Show in August. I know I’ll see you in Anaheim in August.

Hi Rick! Glad you had a nice time at the show and added some fantastic pickups.
You did phenomenal for $90. I appreciate your focus in completing these sets. I have never bought any outside of my complete sets but I have always liked team cards going back to when I was a kid. I wasn’t happy when Topps stopped doing them after 81. I like their orderly appearance. Especially, when they are all in white with the stirrups like the 68 Tigers. It is a rabbit hole I have avoided to date.
Thanks for sharing your pickups and experience.

Terry, I LOVE Team cards. I put the team that won the World Series on the spine of the binder, but like you said, after 81 Topps stopped making team cards so it was harder to pick a card for the spine. I have the 2001 set and thankfully they resumed the team photo cards, but they don't appear in today's sets. Oh well!
68 Tigers team card wasn't the easiest to get but I fell its the best picture, they won the World Series that year and for that I appreciate the card more than the other team cards, Thanks for watching, Terry!

  • @mikethesportshistorycollec1947

Hey there Rick, sounds like it was a pretty good show. Kind of scary that I have a doppelganger out there...hope he wasn't as much of a smart-ass. LOL Nice pickups of the 1968 cards.

Hi Rick i just found your channel. I see you love the dodgers. I will be 60 at the end of the month. I was wondering if you remembered the big rivalry between the dodgers vs reds in the 1970s ? Those were great games. Steve garvey ron cey the penguin. Lee Lacy. Ferguson behind home plate. Davey lopes. Then on the reds you had rose bench morgan perez. Those games were like playoff games. Have a great day.

I am several months behind you and YES! I do remember those Dodgers/Reds games. How I hated the Reds back then (Still do! HAHAHA). I got to see them play each other several times. IMO, it was the best era of baseball. Thanks for the reminder!
