To answer Ross’ question, no but also yes. I never wore a leash going everywhere, but my parents decided to get me on when it came to skiing. I was 8 or so and I was still having trouble learning how to turn so, they got me the leash and dad will pull me in a direction to get me to turn with him.

I was a spaz as a kid and ran all over. When I was very young we were going to Disney and my parents thought a leash would be a good idea. Right as the gates were opened for entry I ran forward and tripped a guy on crutches with the leash. I was never on a leash again 😂

I was a "leash kid", though it was because I almost got ran over when running across the street, which scared my parents. I hated that thing, though I has it in my closet until I moved houses after Hurricane Irma. I don't know why I kept it.
I almost was a lease kid. I live next to a highway and At about 3 I hosted a kitty parade across the highway and scared my mom. She threatened to get me those lease backpacks. I listened and never crossed the road again.

My mom tried to keep me on a leash as a kid. It shows because I often roam away from my family if we're ever in a store
I’ve literally never seen any kid with a lead but maybe that’s just because it isn’t a thing here. I have, however, had a lead clipped to my backpack as a teenager by my friend. She bought it at Pets at Home when we went out together with the intent to clip it to the rings of my “collar”(choker) because my friends are jerks 🙄😂
In the end I took the choker off before she could so the bag it was, I guess!

I would either space out bad looking at something and not move, so i would need to be tugged, or absolutely bolt off towards what ever seemed interesting. I had to wear one everywhere…sometimes either with my family or friends theres the often joke or two about how they should of brought a backpack leash… :D

Ok so my teacher has a friend and they used to go to Sunday School as a kid, and they were practicing writing. And for some reason.. the nuns were very strict on the kids using their right hands. Mr Teacher friend was a rebellious kid so he'd try to use his left hand, but the Nuns would always slap his hand with a ruler and force him on right. Continue this cycle for years and now Mr Teacher friend can write with both hands. 😂

Nono! I'm not sure if it's a American thing, but it's not as bad as it sounds! It's usually this backpack with a leash attached to it, it's usually only used on kids who wander off or have bad spacial awareness! But I get why it sounds off, I'd be concerned if I'd never heard of it too
Think of it more like a more free range version of holding their hand or pushing them in the shopping cart! It keeps them close but gives them enough space to walk around a bit!

@@manicmanix9432 Yeah, it honestly sounds like a really useful tool for kids who tend to wander a lot, so they still can move freely, just not too far from a parent. I always stuck to my parents, was scared of getting lost in stores, even though I lived in a small town, so getting lost in a store would have been really hard, but eh, kids aren't the most rational or the brightest obviously. But yeah, seems like not that bad of an idea, and I mean, if it's more common than I thought it's likely not too embarrassing for the kid either
