A performance like this had been brewing for some time now. The signs were there in the last few games, starting very slow and going behind. The only thing I can say in their defence is there's been a lot of games in a short space of time and not enough rest in between, but I guess that's why they pay you the big bucks.

Uniteds biggest weakness of the past few seasons has been "entitlement". We see it week after week that the players (who are very talented btw) can expect things to come easily for them. It's why big stars were coming and going just for the paycheck.
Liverpool had fallen off a cliff and have dug deep and worked hard to bring their level to where it has been the past few seasons. United expected this to be an easy fixture, like they were entitled to an easy ride.
As a fan, I had started to see that entitlement fade. Yes United have the "chance" of more trophies, but they seemed willing to work hard an earn it. They were looking like a side who new that they needed to put the time and effort in to get results. This thrashing was a sign that they still have work to do.

As a Man United fan, I have to say I was never carried away by the last results. Leicester dominated us first half, Newcastle dominated us, we don't have the confidence and control of a big team, we win by resilience, discipline and when we manage to set traps on counter attacks. With Liverpool we were decent 45 minutes and I have to say Liverpool was magnificent and overconfident after 3-0& when you have Nunez, Salah and Gakpo anything can happen.
I was very carried away. I thought liverpool were there for the taking.
@PLayAshEFF72 Liverpool were absolutely there for the taking. ManU just had to do what everyone has done, defend in depth and take your chances when they cough them up (which they will).
I felt the same. That we were overachieving this season so far, we still need another 5-6 quality signings to get that depth in the squad where things like fatigue aren’t as much of a factor. I predicted 2-2 before the game, Liverpool had won 3 of their last 4 and you’re right, we haven’t been going in there and dominating teams, games have been quite edgy a lot of the time which shows we still have some improving to do

Criticism definitely deserved no doubt, but the main thing is, take the punishment and banter, learn from it and move forward in the correct manner. And the next time we play them remind yourselves, about what happened today, and use that us hunger. But credit to Liverpool (as much as I hate them) they deserve their plaudits. From a United point view, we need to use this as fire going forward. Be interesting to see what happens next...

Why did they put it in quotation marks as if someone actually said that, when they didn't. Keane basically said he always kept an eye on players to make sure the team didn't get carried away with results, and if we do that the circus could come creeping back in. Sky sports are horrible, knew exactly what they was doing with that mis-quotation.
I personally don’t think it’s a harsh comment. These players need to realise that there’s a dozen games to go, instead of thinking they’ve done enough with a league cup win. I’m sure they’ll bounce back, but today’s performance was an absolute disgrace regardless of recent improvements. You cannot do that.

Nice to see Liverpool win, and nice for everyone else to come back down to earth about Utd because ETH can't take a team who were sh*t and make them world beaters in half a season. Arsenal took many, many years with Arteta to become this consistent, and building a team and club culture which includes loyalty.
