- Check out Ron and Kim Plender's show quality '50 Chevy 3100 pickup! The couple made the 800 mile, 11 1/2 hr trip from Box Elder, South Dakota to Byron, Il., to compete in the 2nd Annual Glory Days 2020 Event at beautiful Byron Dragway! Upon first glance I noticed the rollbar exiting the rear window, so I assumed it was probably running a small or big block chevy. To my surprise it had the inline 6 cyl engine. This is no ordinary 6 but a 292 bored 60 over to 301c.i. with an aluminum 12 port head, and mechanical Hilborn fuel injection fed by alcohol. Ron transports the power via a Jerico 4 speed (3.19 first gear) to the ford 9" rearend with aluminum Moser carrier and 4.89 gears. Ron and Kim have owned the truck for 17 years while taking 6 years to build and have been racing it now for 11 years. The first 7 years it was ran on race gas and the last 4 on alcohol. Mike Kirby from Sissel Automotive in CA., built the engine plus provided invaluable assistance. The truck set the National Record ET/MPH record for C/Gas Inliner's International in '10 at Oahe Speedway with a 11.602@114.91mph. To date the personal best pass to date is a 10.94@119mph! #glorydays #sleeper #trucks

I love it when somebody takes a six banger and makes it fly!
That's the meanest naturally aspirated American inline 6-cylinder engine I have seen.

Badass!!!
Great package, great engine great engineering, beautiful truck. Thanks for sharing. More power to you and this truck, keep posting!!!
Right on dude! My dad had a chevy coupe when I was young, straight six in it with a driveshaft offs truck for a sidepipe and, that car was stupid fast. Nice to see some people still know how to MAKE power, rather than buy it.
11.89’s in that big ol truck with a six, damn impressive
Actually, it didn't run it that day, but it's best et has been 10.94 @ 119 mph
Very Sweet Truck! Looks amazing and Fast!! Love it
Seen this at the first glory days.
Sounds wicked in person.
That is the coolest thing I've seen in years. He has something different and he has the only one.
So cool and quick!!
Thats awesome guys.
Hahaha... That little straight 6 is kicking ass ! Nice
Very impressive
Rons a great guy
Oh that is super cool
Love it ! Enjoyed. Inliner # 116. 👍👍👍👍
Big stovebolt i love it like my 53 belair
Impressive
Any advice on how to put fuel injection on a 292? Bought one foe my 53 chevy and wanted individual throttle bodies.
Looking to build a straight 6 myself. I was wondering what head you were using. And if possible, what mods you've done to it?
The guy is from south dakota used to watch him race at Sturgis dragway
I’m a Grand National owner and he’s awesome do to the fact he’s all natural the six cylinder gods are applauding
You my friend are AWESOME
Was that an old blashimi race
Back in the day Chevy 6s were killin' the V8s on a regular.....ya just have to work a little harder👍
Chevy truck. Looks cool, sounds wicked, hauls ass, any questions?🤨
Do you know how to get ahold of Mike Kirby ? The shop number is still actove but no answer
Injected 6 cylinder with a Jerico 4-speed and halibrand all the way around it doesn't get much better than that
Give me a hell ya.
what kinda oil pump and electronics u running
Just a high volume, high pressure oil pump and a MSD ignition. It runs about 60 psi when it's wound up.
@@farmtruck5021 do you know how to get ahold of Mike Kirby ? The shop number is still active as well as the website but he doesnt answer or reply to e emails I need another 12 port head for a project
Wonder where he got that head?
Probably custom made or something built by Clifford 6=8 who makes a bunch of go fast speed parts for inline 6s . This is neat as hell but I can tell you that he has way more money in this 6 than it would cost to build a solid V8 because 6s aren't cheap to make power with . I had wanted to build one at one time then looked into it further & it just didn't make sense to spend that kind of money on one when you could build a small block or big block that will make way more HP and torque for less money . There is a guy on here some place on CZcams who built a 71 Plymouth duster with a turbo slant 6 that I actually seen at a Mopars in the park car show just 2 years ago that supposedly runs 9 second ETs so when set up properly they can go like hell but it's not cheap to do it because most of the problems with most of the inline 6 are the heads don't breath very well even when done up & that kills power so this is one of the reasons this guy's 6 goes so good because it's a custom built head that's far from a stock type head from the factory & who knows what other mods done to the bottom end to lighten the rotating assembly so it revs harder ( custom crank rods & pistons ) .
Sissells Automotive out in CA
@@peteloomis8456 a complete sissel 12 port head is 3500 bucks & 6 cylinder heads breathe exceptionally well if you know what your doing with port work, do a you tube search for mighty 6 36 chevy truck another 292 chevy 6 in an all steel stock front straight axle rear leaf spring truck that runs 8.20's put that in your V8 pipe & smoke it
Also the 6 in the 50 is not all that trick to go fast, one thing you miss is the 292 chevy 6 makes big block torque & torque is what moves things and they will rev without alot of work they have 7 main bearings

Horse power?
When we converted it to alcohol it pushed it to just over 500hp
@@farmtruck5021 very good.
@@farmtruck5021 Wheel power or no motor?
@@farmtruck5021 If you start using nitrous oxide you will reach 800hp on the wheel or more. Congratulations on the project. Success.
if the truck drove past, i'd bet $100 that it was a v8
At low RPM, it sure as shit would fool me. And I'm the type of dude that can hear the difference between 4-into-1 and 4-into-2-into-1 headers on an inline 4, or X vs H pipe on a V8.
@@Drunken_Hamster I had a 1990 chevy short bed with a v6 5 speed, dual 2" flowmasters, people would ask if it was a v8. i could effortlessly get 2nd gear chirp
I don’t even know what to say besides wow. Drag racing as we know it is a lie
