Russia Ready To “Halt” War As Putin Mocks Zelensky’s Legitimacy, Says Nuke Drills Not “Escalation”

- Russian President Putin said he is ready to halt the war in Ukraine with a negotiated ceasefire that recognises the current battlefield lines. Putin also questioned the legitimacy of Ukrainian President Zelensky following the expiry of his five-year term. Putin said expiry of Zelensky’ term as president would raise a legal obstacle if Russia and Ukraine were to hold peace talks. Reuters quoted three Russian who said Putin understood any dramatic new advances would require another nationwide mobilisation.
